Wiggling is a pseudo mechanic

This whole thing is a placebo for your mind to actually think that you're doing something but actually it does nothing and still get you hooked even if you get to 95-99% wiggle progression bar.

This cost you a controller because your left thumbstick is ######### rolled to ######### or finger condoms for your keyboard because you press 2 buttons at high speed and leave you with broken keys.

Why is this not been changed to just hold button. I got a brand new Xbox One remote and I'm not wiggling especially with the cost of the damn thing. And I'm not changing my layout because every time I do i ######### something else I don't find out from being down by the Killer

Wiggling is a legacy mechanic similar to the old second hook stage where you slammed the space bar repeatedly and probably has the same reasoning where the devs felt that frantically hitting buttons repeatedly "feels suspenseful". I agree that it's not actually all that engaging a mechanism, which is why I was glad they replaced it for second hook stage with the skill checks which at least require a little more mental attention. Hypothetically if wiggler's got skill checks while being carried that advanced or regressed their wiggle timer I'd be ok with that too, but really it's not a big deal to me either way. 🤷‍♂️

Obviously wiggling free in general is never meant to work most of the time, it's really just there as a stop gap to prevent a killer from, for instance, just carrying a survivor around all match without ever hooking them or always carrying every survivor to the basement or picking up and dropping survivors over and over with way to stop it, etc. It's not meant as a way for survivors to reliably get out a significant portion of the time, at least not without a lot of effort and/or some perks that make it easier to wiggle free.

Wiggling only exists so the Killer doesnt send everyone to the basement, its not there to give Survivors a real chance of not getting hooked unless a very dedicated build and teammates (and at a great cost even if pulled off perfectly).

And its perfect the way it is.

Wriggling is not supposed to let you get free without outside help (Survivors slowing the Killer down, or Sabo-ing nearby hooks).

In no way are you expected to wriggle free if a viable hook is anywhere nearby. It's only there to prevent the Killer from dragging everyone to the basement, and to prevent him from just carrying 1 Survivor all match while he hunts down the other 3.

    I have a solution.

    Don't wiggle.

As someone who uses agitation and sometimes mad grit I second this. Nothing better than super speed blender killer with a survivor who refuses to stop buffing me.

It really should just be a button to hold.

As much as I hate how the wiggling mechanic works it always makes me laugh when I'm playing with my SWF teammate because at start of being carried it's quiet but then as he gets closer to hook I can hear the thumbstick getting quickly slammed side to side as he tries to wiggle harder. 😂 He also doesn't say a word at all because he's concentrating on wiggling. 😂

If you on controller, just make slow circles with left thumbstick, it works and doesnt hurt controller life span

Wiggling should be automatic as it is currently an accessibility issue.

As someone who often doesn't wiggle because the repetitive motion wears on my thumb, I don't do it for you, but I usually hate my teammates anyway and would rather we all die than risk any of them escaping, so... you're welcome. Keep up the good murdering. 👍️

Get a cheap one - works fine and it is not so bad if it breakes down...

The waggle really should have an option to switch to shoulder buttons or something. Stick spinning sucks, it makes my thumbs go stiff if I have to do it for any length and am lucky I can hit a and d on computer.

One of the QoL we should really get.

even perked for best wiggle you still need someone to take a hit or two.

switch to your palm since you can't do anything else anyway

It exists to make it so the killer can't take every hook exactly where they want (like basement or right in the middle of a 3gen). Just like EGC exists just to put a hard cap on match duration, not to help anyone.

I do completely agree alternative ways to wiggle like hold-to-wiggle or even toggle-to-wiggle would be good though, not like you have to mash at inhuman speed to wiggle optimally anyway. But then again the same goes for any "hold/tap a button over and over again" things in the game.

My D key broke in half, so i understand what you mean

You do know wiggle is capped without breakout right? It takes 16 seconds to wiggle free just chill with the stick and buttons.

Ps wiggle is meant to force the killer hook you near where you were downed and not be able to carry you across map to basement every down without some perks anyway

I dont wiggle my sticks like a madman because I want it to go faster , I'm just tired of getting hooked at 99 wiggle because I didn't gain any progress for a millisecond

OP is your complaint wiggling requiring multiple inputs as fast as possible or is it that you think 16 seconds is too long/survivors should be able to wiggle free faster?

Just wiggle slowly doing it faster does nothing but destroy your controller. I agree though it feels hella useless 98% of the time

How the hell are people breaking their keyboards tapping A and D? Either stop buying the cheapest keyboards known to exist, or calm the hell down with your button taps. These are things that are meant to spend their entire lifetimes with keys being repeatedly and rapidly pressed (just count the number of repetitive letters in this sentence) ffs.

You're supposed to be pressing keys, not trying to drive them through the desk.

you don't have to press the keys so fast, just a steady bpm is enough
