I've never once seen a killer complain about the hatch not spawning during the match. Once the hatch got nerfed, all key/hatch complaints just stopped.

Hatch was not the issue, it was keys. They did not need to change the entire hatch, when they could have just changed keys. For example Allowing keys to only allow the one who used it too escape. Or another to perhaps instead of affecting the hatch at all, use it to automatically open one door when the gates are powered. Or maybe exclusively skeleton keys could allow one survivor to escape, which then would automatically start the end game collapse. Instead they rushed out a poorly conceived rework that made the item useless. Dull keys are actually inferior to broken keys, because the chance to use one is so slim, so the only real value they have is as aura reading, which broken keys are better for.

I think the hatch that us now is fine. It's the last chance for the last survivor.

Both killer and survivor have equal 50/50 chances of finding it first. And even if jiller found it before survivor and close it - he would go patroling exits. In this case key is guaranteed escape.

Due to this I also don't like idea of spawning hatch after 5 gens. Killer already has 2 exits to patrol. If hatch will spawn - he must check it too. And if it spawns in the opposite side of the map from exits - this would be just "leave for free" for surviving

Yeah, but the keys don't instantly open the Hatch anymore. There's a progress bar now that fills up as you open the Hatch with a key. Not a complaint, I prefer it this way, because it gives Killers a chance to stop the Survivors.

Also, it wouldn't spawn opened, and after the person with the key escapes it would close immediately afterwards.

All four? Not often. Two or three escapes in one hatch? Multiple times back when it was possible which is still too often for a single key use.
