Rework: Monstrous Shrine
Hello everyone,
today I finished an old tome challenge were I had to hook someone in the basement while another survivor was already there hanging out with the perk Monstrous Shrine equipped and I gave it some thought.
Monstrous Shrine is a base perk that "improves" the basement hooks be making it harder to Kobe from them and letting the sacrifice timer tick down faster.
Its quite the legacy perk, because in todays meta you will barely have room for anything with that mediocre an effect. Also it incentivises basement camping, a tactic that has become more and more a problem or undesired way of playing.
Well, I am always for applying the Carrot instead of the stick and to reward a desired action instead of publishing an undesired one, so I came up with the following:
The perk still makes it harder to escape and speeds up the sacrifice, but also has und following effect: when the Killer is further then 32m away from the basement hook, a survivor trying to unhook their college was to solve a skill check similar to a yellow rune. Starting the skill check will notify the killer with a noise notification.
I also like the idea that the basement hooks are automatically Scourge Hooks, if such a perk is selected in the loadout, lessening the impact of RNG on SH a little bit.
You could also award tokens for an unhooking event if the killer is far enough away that will further speed up the sacrifice by 2% per token, or something.

I think Monstrous Shrine should be turned into a Scourge Hook that makes basement hooks Scourge Hooks--the Undying of Scourge Hooks.
If you actually crunch the numbers, Monstrous Shrine does nothing.
It only makes it 15% harder to self-unhook.
That is .6 of 4 or .006 of 4%. Regardless of whether they calculate the 15% out of the percentage, or just the number 4, Survivors still have a 3.4% chance to unhook themselves AT BEST. Why would anyone equip a perk that negatively effects survivors by only .6%?
I had 4 of 6 survivors unhook themselves in the basement while I was running Monstrous Shrine. 3 of them escaped on first attempt.
Edit: Corrected typo

Basement Hooks should always be Scourge Hooks period.

The developers already said "NO". They do not want 8 scourge hooks in the game.
MS should be a scourge hook perk:
- Kobe is not possible on scourge hooks;
- Accelerates Sacrifice Progression by 3/6/9 %.
- Scourge hooks are always the ones in the basement.

If devs are a hard no on 8 Scourge Hooks in the game, then I'm a big fan of this proposed rework. I believe Scourge Hook: Gift of Pain's status effect appears the moment you are hooked, so Monstrous Shrine would let survivors know "hey, you can't unhook yourself so don't bother trying."

Sorry, maybe i do not explained well.
My proposal was not: You can try to unhook but you always fail
My proposal was: YOU CANNOT TRY TO UNHOOK
So you 100% know, when you are hooked:
MS is in play, the scourged hooks are the basement, i cannot unhook, i will die 9% faster.
But still way better than the actual MS.
You do not have to worry about kobe or deliverance, you can control 100% the spawn of scourge hooks in case you have other scourge hooks perks, you have scourge hooks that cannot be broken or bodyblocked and, as little bonus, the people on scourge hooks will die 9% faster.
