Please Fix Gen-Tapping
It's immensely lame that Killers take 3 seconds to kick a gen for slow regression while Survivors can literally tap a gen in 1 frame of animation to halt this regression.
Because of this, barring a few perks; Gen Regressing is literally a waste of time for the Killer. It's worse than useless.
My fix:
Make it so, when Survivors are working on Regressing generator, the regression is PAUSED. This way, they get 100% of their repair progress, as is fair.
If they get a Skillcheck and hit a Great; Regression is removed. Killer will have to kick the gen again.
If they get a skillcheck and get a Normal; Regression will still re-apply if they leave the gen. 2 Normal skillchecks & Regression is removed, same as 1 Great.
If they miss their Skillchecks & leave the generator, or are chased off, or if they leave the generator, or are chased away BEFORE getting 1 Great or 2 Normal skillchecks: Regression resumes as normal.
This would make Kicking Generators actually useful, and stop this utterly BS 'flicker' gen tap that is in no way a danger in a chase. Gen tapping only requires 1 frame of animation. At 60 FPS, that's 1/60th of a second.
I repeat: Gen Tapping requires 1/60th of a second to undo a Killer's 3 seconds of work.
If you can't see why that's BS; I don't know what to tell you.
Edit: For typos.

Its crazy how this never been addressed. You can even make a lazy fix by giving default kick a 5-8% (whatever number, you get the idea) regression, so if a survivors tries to bruteforce the gen in your face you can kick it over and over to make it regress.
"Oh but it would stack with pop and make it regress gens by 30%, so OP!" just make it not stack, but if its too annoying to code that (idk im not a dev) just nerf pop by 5% and it would stack and go back to the 25% pop regression.
Can probably do this in one patch lol

Yeah. There are so many ways the devs could make kicking gens viable and they just don't.
The real joke comes from an old Q&A, where a dev says something like 'Gen tapping is a danger when being chased' when asked about gen tapping & Killer kicking. Sure; 1 frame of animation is going to give the Killer 0.006 of a second catchup on you.
REAL dangerous. 🙄

Not only it's extremely fast, there is 4 of survivors.
Pretty ridiculous I'd say.

Yes, the taps really could take longer. I like the skill check idea.

I'm gonna be honest my man i DO see the problem here but also you shouldn't even take the time to kick a gen without pop unless you know for certain they aren't gonna come back for ages and tap it, because otherwise its just not worth it in the slightest a complete waste of time

That's why I made this thread; With a few changes, base gen-kicking can be useful without being OP. It will rely on a mix of Survivor skill and Killers pressuring gens. Leave a Survivor alone too long and they've turned off the Regression through 1 or 2 Skillchecks (depending on if they hit a Great or Good).

I would rather it was a fixed thing you can control, instead of skillchecks. Like sometimes you might not get a skillcheck for 30+ seconds.
Like either it's a special skillcheck that will guarantee to spawn after x seconds or something else.

It has to be somewhat random, or Survivors will just have muscle memory for it and never risk missing.
Also, the random timer for skillchecks can help a Killer run towards a gen before the Survivor makes 1 or 2, which can mean the difference between starting a chase or kicking the gen again.

And if it's random then it can either be removed immediately OR not removed ever. Idk It just feels wrong to me?
There's no risk to RNG. There's no strategy to it. Not using the toolbox in general (Who even uses that add-on?) is a strategy, which you do anyways sometimes.

I really hope we as a community can continue to increase the demand to fix gen-tapping, and not try to defend it, as it is a core imbalance in this game against the Killer multiplied by 4. I have wondered why the devs haven't done anything to fix this in several actual years. The longer core imbalance stays, the worse the health of the game will stay. To top it off, this is easy to fix for the devs, they don't even have to add anything new, just use what they already have in the game.

I'd like survivors to repair the gen for 3 secs before the regression is halted, looking at blast mine and red herring for inspiration

Yeah its pretty unfortunate how kicking gens has been basically useless without perks for the games entire lifespan because of gen tapping. I guess to be fair it took them 5 years to give trapper an extra trap to start out with base kit so you know they miss a lot of obvious things for years at a time.
