The new Boil Over is insane!

So I was messing around with Boil Over again and by chance we got Ironworks Of Misery. We were going against Pinhead and he only hooked me once. Every time I got into a chase with him I would run to the top floor of the Ironworks and let him down me there.

Every time he would pick me up, I would wiggle out of his grasp. Then at the end of the game it was only me and this Mikaela left. He downed Mikaela and kept going after me.

I kept hiding in a locker on the top floor of the Ironworks and he kept grabbing me out of it and trying to find a way to hook me. I wiggled out of his grasp 8 TIMES before he decided to slug me and hook the Mikaela. He left me slugged on the top floor and refused to pick me up after that.

I ended up bleeding out as he shook his head at me, which I don't blame him for. The extra 25% wiggle progress combined with extra wiggle speed from great skill checks make this perk a pain to deal with on maps like these.

And yet it's not going to get kill switched, nor will be the maps it can be abused with

Yeah and because of that the survivors who abuse the perk will complain about being slugged.

I had a Claudette try this on the third floor of rpd library. I just left her up there every time. Killed all her teammates and decided to let her bleed out since i couldnt bother to find her after checking the library again.

She then DCs and leaves a horrid message on my steam profile.

People like that are the reason why my Steam profile is private. It's always the ones who abuse bugs/bad game mechanics who give you ######### on your profile (or complain about my profile being private, in my case).. as if I care what someone I played a game against one time thinks.

...Of course it's not? It's strong, it's not crashing the game or experiencing an unintended bug. The killswitch isn't just for anything that's annoying.

To the original thread, though- I only played against it on the PTB but it definitely feels strong. I think a good move would be to lower the amount of instant progression you get on a drop down to somewhere around 15%, that feels like it would be a lot less abusable while still being useful.

Remove the penalty to killers for dropping from a great height, keep the struggle power at 100%, but remove hook aura entirely.

This is more or less exactly how I’ve been saying Boil Over should work for years now.

14m hook aura blocking was always unremarkable and the bump up to 16m will be just as useless.

Boil used to be one of my guilty pleasures until they changed hook spawns. Now there’s 3-4 hooks practically side by side map wide… for the most part (odd rng).

Boil over is now a perk worth using. Its been nothing more than a dust collector since the day I got Kate. For most players its not going to be a huge game breaker but rather an opportunity to have a little better chance of escaping a down. Anyone who plays this game for even a little while knows that wiggling free from the killer simply doesn't happen that often. I've seen hooks sabo'd and it mean nothing when another one was right around the corner. Kate's perks have been largely useless for a long time. I never use them and hardly ever saw them used by other players. Its nice to see a buff to one of her perks and see it being used now.

Dance with me just needs a little love and Kate is all set for the rodeo. Windows got exactly the change it needed. I toss it in a perk slot whenever I feel rusty. It can undeniably improve a decent/experienced runners pathing, especially without comms or while solo. The slight heads up that a pallet has been used or where a window is during the heat of the moment sometimes makes or breaks a chase. It also really helps less advanced players understand tiles faster so once you’re more confident you can swap the perk out or keep it in if you like it.

I haven't nor will I use boil over (mai ly because I don't have Kate and don't plan on getting her).

But I did manage to escape twice with these new skill check thing today.
