The DC Penalty Needs a Rework
Last week I got disconnected due to bad internet and got banned for 24 hours because it kept happening. I took a break for about a week and it happened again. I got banned for 6 hours. This is extremely unfair and it needs to be fixed. It's one thing if I'm disconnecting intentionally, but being punished for getting kicked off is another. It's already punishment enough to be winning in a match and then get kicked off right at the end. Please fix this issue, it's very unfair.

That's when you stop playing because your internet is unstable, rather than screwing over 4 other people.
This is extremely unfair and it needs to be fixed.

Here's the sad fact: The game CANNOT, via any technology that currently exists, know WHY you disconnected. All it can see, all it can EVER see, is that you disappeared. It can't read intent or ping your offline modem to ask 'Yo! Internet issues or ragequit?' So it does not, and cannot, know what is a ragequit and what is a legit DC. It's, literally, impossible to differentiate.
Here's some more info: If your internet is THAT spotty; you are being selfish by inflicting repeated DCs on other players just so you can play. If it keeps happening, you need to fix it before trying again. Because if you drop again; you will get punished. That's how the system works. And it can't work any other way.

I'm being selfish because I have bad internet? I can't play a game that I enjoy because I get kicked off sometimes. What is wrong with this community? I spent money on this game. I should be able to PLAY IT! As I said, I'm not intentionally doing it. There are ways to fix this issue such as reducing the penalty times or something like that. There are ways to help instead of just degrading people who are getting wrongfully punished.

this seems to be brought up frequently and the only thing i can say is if your internet is that bad you should just not play, you are screwing over your teammates and im sure its not fun for you either, so until your internet is better, dont play, theres no possible way for the game to know why the DC happens, just that it happened, if you see that your internet keeps going down over and over again and you still keep playing knowing how that ruins the matches for the other people, you are being selfish for no reason cause you still cant play properly and neither can your mates :/

Well said @AngryKiller. Nailed it spot on.
@Innards638 unfortunately DBD is a game that seriously handicaps a team when someone leaves (for whatever reason). Intentional or unintentional, it’s not fair to the other team. For you to have reached 24 hours at one point, that means you have a serious unstable internet connection. If I was to lose connection on my next match, my penalty would be 5 mins. I imagine a lot of teams got screwed over last week.
‘You have to figure something out with your internet. I’m guessing you’re on Wi-fi, so look into getting a wi-fi extender or get a more powerful router. If that’s not doable, or you can’t improve your internet due to financial reasons, then unfortunately it is what it is. We can’t have the majority of the community punished due to the technical issues of the minority. It’s not fair to the other 3. By you continuing to log on and get booted, you’re ruining the experience of others- even if you’re not trying to.

I'm being selfish because I have bad internet?
Yes, because your bad internet is leaving 3 Survivors screwed out of a teammate.
I can't play a game that I enjoy because I get kicked off sometimes.
Again; it's a MULTI-PLAYER game, meaning your internet disconnects are RUINING IT FOR OTHER PEOPLE. How is that not selfish to you?
I spent money on this game. I should be able to PLAY IT!
So should the 4 other people in the match you leave behind when you drop. They paid for the game and should be able to play a full match without DCs.
As I said, I'm not intentionally doing it.
But you're intentionally logging in while knowing it could happen, and knowing this will screw over other players. Same thing.
There are ways to fix this issue such as reducing the penalty times or something like that
So reduce the penalty so people with internet problems who selfishly want to play and screw over teammates get punished less because they feel like they're a victim & can't think of the other players? Nah.
There are ways to help instead of just degrading people who are getting wrongfully punished.
And more proof you can't think of others. If your internet is BAD ENOUGH to give you 6-24 hour bans; you are not being WRONGFULLY punished. You are logging in KNOWING you could drop, and ruining the games of other players. At that point; you deserve the punishment.

- I'm a killer main
- My time is being ruined too. Especially when I get a penalty.
- My game's being ruined. I play killer. So whenever I have 2 people already out of the game with 3 gens left, I don't really think I'm ruining their experience.
- They get to move onto the next game while I get banned.
- People like you who probably have the best internet can't see my point of view either.
- You can't think of others either.

You are making the conscious decision to play despite shoddy internet. That is your decision that can negatively impact others' games.

I'm literally thinking about the people you're screwing over but sure, I can't think of others. Whatever gets the rage out, I guess.
I've had good and bad internet; when my net was bad, I did not play multiplayer games, because I thought of others. So shove that rage somewhere else. I'm not selfish because I pointed out how selfish you're being. Sorry.

Contact your internet provider. Demand they fix your internet. Cancel your service if they don't. That's your only solution. Or move to a place that doesn't allow a monopoly. The devs are not going to make it so you can DC over and over because of bad internet. I don't care if you DC'd due to being angry or due to internet troubles. Both ruin my games equally. Yeah, I'm sorry it sucks for you but asking 4 others to be cool with their games regularly being ruined because you live in an area that allows an ISP monopoly isn't really the solution

what is the point of playing a multiplayer online game if you know you are going to constantly get disconnected? its not the devs fault your internet is bad, if its a game where anyone can join midgame sure its not that big of a deal but thats not this game's case, unless they implement bots to take over the missing teammate which they have in mobile i dont know why they dont implement it in the main game, better to have a dumb IA meg than nothing, still gives the killer something to focus on...

As others pointed out, you need to get an upgrade for your potato internet.
And if you're getting a 6 hours ban, it means you've disconnected multiple times and got harsher and harsher penalties for it. If I played a game that my internet or pc couldn't handle, despite liking the game, know what i'd do? Upgrade my set up so I can enjoy the game, or play something else entirely until I can do the upgrade. Especially a multiplayer game.
But seeing your arguments that have been repeated over and over by others who disconnected on purpose, I'm going to say you're either A) really selfish and can't understand anything anyone else has said to you about it, literally no one's taking your side on this one, or B) disconnecting on purpose, and saying you have a bad internet as an excuse.. Either way, you disconnecting ruins the game for the 4 other players involved.

Even putting aside the need for better internet, being a Killer main doesn't make it any better if you're constantly DCing, even if you don't mean to do it. Survivor Qs are notoriously long now and all that does is waste upwards of 10-20 minutes of the survivor's time as well.
Just stick to non online games if you can't hold a connection stable enough to run multiplayer games. Sure it sucks but the consensus on this forum is pretty clear, internet problems shouldn't be the responsibility of the Devs, and the fact that you're getting 6-24h bans shows that you've been doing this knowing what the result will be.

How about fixing your internet? You even play accept that your mates are screwed if your internet goes down. Its totally fine to give you a punishment for this mentality.

I faced a Clan in DBD has a killer and they just DC after i catch 3 of them in bear traps...

next time before you spent money on something and wanna interact with it, read the minimum reqs

So you know the getting disconnected from the game gives you a penalty and you know your internet is disconnecting you from the game, yet you keep trying to play without fixing the issue causing you to disconnect.
You might want to solve your issue first before asking for the penalty to be changed to accommodate you.
