How long are we expected to wait?
Whenever the problems with this update are brought up they already go unacknowledged 90% of the time. But somehow it’s even more frustrating when you do respond. Because the response is just “it’s being brought up with the team” or “we’re working on it.” Wasn’t the whole purpose of inventing this kill switch thing in the first place so that you could disable things that are objectively causing issues and completely breaking the game? What is the issue in this situation that is causing this hesitation. Did you intend for survivors to become invincible if they bring 3 anti slug perks, a map offering and boil over?

They are, should something need a kill switch, BO definitely needs to be changed, but it’s working just as intended, a drop from high enough gives 25% wiggle progress, now if it gave 50% or something, than I’d by all means have a different take on the subject.

The intended purpose in terms of what is written is being met. But as low as my expectations for BHVR are I very much doubt that invincible spots are intentional.

I don't advocate DC's unless absolutely necessary but I mean, if you see a survivor drop an RPD offering that's a big sign they wanna abuse in game mechanics. Nobody likes RPD. Beautiful map, but Terrible layout
Just leave if that happens and you don't want to deal with it right? Move on to a game where people don't abuse mechanics.

It’s not broken in terms of the perk doing exactly what it says it is going to do. But it is broken in terms of the perk creating impossible situations.

if you can’t make it to a hook and they got anti slug perks. Especially with exponential, you might as well be invincible. I genuinely want to hope that BHVR doesn’t expect you to bleed people out for 10 minutes and call it good balance.

You can’t hook them. And they’re gonna be up in a matter of seconds with an anti slug build. I don’t see boil over as holding the game hostage but I fail to see how it’s use on RPD could be the intended use of it.

If they have intentions to change it then why the delay. We’ve known the perk was gonna do exactly what it’s doing now since the PTB.

I doubt it’s intended but it also doesn’t impact kill rates significantly which is all the devs care about

This is a point I agree on.
They should have noticed it would be an issue, and, should have changed it.
But I’m sure the devs know what their doing, you don’t just get one of the most popular games on steam by accident.

The patch has been out a week and I've had 1 survivor try to abuse the RPD Boil Over thing, and I was still able to hook them right outside the library. All the other uses I've seen have been fair play, making Boil Over a useful perk but not OP by any means. This isn't a priority, it's an overreaction to a 1 time gimmick.

Boil Over is working as intended so I understand not using the killswitch on it.
The problem is RPD. Before the Boil Over buff it already had hook issues that should've been addressed, Boil Over buff has just made those issues worse. Ideally they should killswitch the map until they fix the hook issues. Unfortunately they've needed to disable that map multiple times since release - I think that mixed with it being a licensed map is why they are not using the killswitch even though they should. At the very least they should disable the offering so players can't send themselves to the map.

The frequency of unfair interactions should have no impact when discussing how balanced something is. And while I am curious how you managed to pull off a hook we also cannot make decisions based on the experience of only a handful of people.

I do agree it’s mostly are RPD issue. I don’t care too much what they have to end up disabling to get this thing in line. It’s the lack of ANYTHING that annoys me.

Went down the stairs, out to the lobby area and got the hook, it wasn't that far. It's also possible to drop the survivor from your shoulder to the ground below preventing the 25% loss, then go for the hook.

So run Iron Grasp and Agitation. Perks exist to counter your opponent/fill in for your weaknesses.

I’d assume the survivor had to mess up in some capacity to pull that off but still congrats. I might also test the dropping off ledges thing with some of my friends later.

I do most of the time, for reasons unrelated to boil over. But even tho it doesn’t affect me personally as much I’m still able to see the flaws and feel frustrated for the lack of action.

Bringing perks to counter other perks is a slippery slope.

I was using Deathslinger, so I was able to position them to allow a better route down, that also probably helped.

You aren't invincible, but you can stall out the game basically forever and force the killer to essentially not play the game and instead stare at slugs for ages.
That's the issue.
You can be as pedantic as you like about 'well, technically it's working as intended' or whatabout, but it's having an observable and highly negative effect on the game overall - and thus it needs to go.
It's not realistic to expect multiple map changes in a short period of time. It's easier to just disable the damn perk until you can change it to not be a huge griefing tool.

Its easier to revert / change boil over to do something else.
If we use the kill switch on this, it would open up a floodgate of people asking to kill switch stuff they don’t like

I do think most people who argue for the purpose of actually presenting opinions and not trolling are capable of seeing what sets Boil Over apart from other perks currently in the game. Maybe I think too much of the community tho.

It's not just countering perks. BT and DS have been nearly mandatory for a long time to counter tunneling. Tunneling is definitely not fun, but it's part of the game. Not saying that there aren't some pretty egregious maps though.

But generally, they don't change perks outside of the 6 week patches.
If BO remains as is for another 5 weeks, you are going to see an even faster mass exodus than you are right now. And many of those players just won't come back.
They've kill switched perks before when they caused crashes or issues - and I'd say forcing extremely annoying, unfun games is even worse as this wastes far more player time.

Yeah but like as an example let’s say Noed for example. Most ppl agree the perk is unhealthy even if it’s not OP. But when ppl bring it up others say “do bones” and when ppl bring up solo queue a common response is “well use small game” and I don’t want more situations like that to occur.

They aren’t going to kill switch it because although there are some issues with maps, from their perspective the mechanics are working as intended and they didn’t put in the work only to disable it right after launch.
I agree some maps are stupid and it can be annoying to put up with, but in most cases you can just slug them and carry on as normal.
I use Boil Over with no Mither so that won’t work on me, but most people don’t do that :x

While you are correct the amount of ppl purely using it for abuse is low. When ppl are using it for abuse they will typically build an entire build around it. So something like no mither, unbreakable, soul guard, boil over and another dude using exponential is not uncommon in these abuse situations specifically.

The issue isn't 'can it be countered?' (although RPD with further hook offerings - even Iron Grasp+Agitation do not counter this).
The issue is that players shouldn't be forced to dedicate literally half their perks to countering one thing that may or may not occur. This is why boon stacking was removed.

But - here's the difference.
Let's say NOED is totally broken and allows the killer to win easier. Okay.
BO allows survivors to basically trap the killer in the game.
One is imbalanced, one is a tool to allow griefing.
Imagine if killers had a perk that stopped survivors from leaving the exit gates unless they had Red Herring and Empathy equipped. That's basically the scenario you are talking about here.

i think you misunderstood the point I was making. When I say it’s a slippery slope I mean the exact same thing you just said in that if you continue down that path you’ll have 4 perks that only exist to counter the other perks people are using which will become stale quickly. And I brought up noed as an example of where this being X to counter Y mentality is already present. I don’t think the perks themselves are similar but the statement “use iron grasp agitation to counter boil over” is completely similar to “bring small game to counter noed”

No, I get your point.
I just don't think your analogy holds any water - at best, it's just whataboutism.
The differences are:
- There are multiple ways to counter NOED. Not all of these involve perks.
- NOED doesn't allow the killer to trap all the survivors in the game.
There isn't really an analogous killer perk to the new Boil Over. It's like...imagine No Way Out, but it lasted 10 minutes.
