A way to make boons more interesting

TLDR: the boons location will now be shown to the killer for a few seconds and the killer has a new interaction with boons that turn them into tactical nukes and make them do the opposite of what their suppose to (anti-boons)

So right now everyone thinks boons are overpowered yet they can't think of any good solutions in order to solve the issues with them.

Two issues which go for evey boon is the fact that killers will waste too much time trying to get rid of boons that they loses pressure and that the boons have multiple uses and can be spammed frequently.

My suggested changes are centered around these issues which boons create and would be simple to implement.

So you may be asking what are the changes? Well basically this is what I have came up with. make it so that when survivors boon a totem either a loud nosie notification would pop up or the aura of the boon will appear for a brief amount of time. This will give the killer a rough idea where the boon might be and give them the choice if they want to seek out the boon.

Then if a killer were to seek the boon out the killer will have two choices. Choice one they could snuff the boon which will destroy the totem and remove the boon. Choice two they could corrupt the boon making it the killers anti-boon (name is a work in progress) or if you don't like the anti-boon it could just restore the totem back to a hex if that boon replaced it.

A anti-boon would make the boon glow orange and have the same area of effect on the survivors like a boon but this time will an orange hue. Also when the survivors are close to the boon they can hear the entity making nosies weather it be whispering to the survivos or playing echoes of another trial. When in the anti-boon area of effect it will give the survivors debuffs depending on the type of boons that where corrupted. So for example let's say a survivor made a circle of healing boon and the killer corrupted it now instead of 75% increased healing it would be a negative 75% making healing slower. Or alternatively the boon could have an unique debuffs for that individual boon which would be listed at the bottom of the peri description which could be anything the devs so please.

So now in order to combat the op anti-boons the survivors will be able to purify the anti-boon to turn it once more back to a boon. (Or they could just destroy the totem and give me a stack of hex pentimento) the purify ability will only be available if you have a boon otherwise you will only be able to destroy the totem. Also purifying and destroying the anti-boon will be the same speed as cleansing a full totem

Finally a little note that I thought would be like a quality of life is if they just made it so you could get your hex back instead of corrupting the boon then they could make it so when a survivor boons a hex totem the perk icon for the related totem will glow and pulse blue to show the killer that the hex is now booned and must be snuffed out. This will also give the killer information on which hex totem is out of the count. Also for haunted ground just update it so the perk can only work once per match and will no long work if booned because technically the boon is just "locking the perk away".

Thanks for read until the end and share will big brained people that can analyze this and I tryed to make this readable but I'm bad at texting at 3:50 in the morning.

Even hexes cannot be shown by survivors but why boons though?

TLDR boons op and take too long to find as a killer especially on big maps like the swamp.

Because boons are really strong and force the killer into a lose lose situation where if they take the time to look for a boon instead of pressuring the gens they will lose gens left and right until they find it or they can ignore the boon and any survivor they don't commit in chase with will heal in 10 seconds negating any healing pressure.

So if the killer had a little sneak peak of the totem and had a short amount of time to look around to see where the boon was place it would make the boons not so hard for the killer making finding the totem a bit easier and allowing the killer to not lose too much pressure but also makes it so that the survivors still have a chance of the killer not noticing the fact you just placed down a boon because if the location will only be shown for like 4 seconds it could easily not noticed

"So right now everyone thinks boons are overpowered yet they can't think of any good solutions in order to solve the issues with them."

There were many propositions, like make strenght of a boon dependent on the distance, make them one use only, make circle of healing give either self care or healing speed buff.

TLDR: no the changes that were suggested are bad and don't fit the big picture of boons in general and the suggested changes are not for boons in general but are just focused on circle of healing.

Let talk about the changes you have just listed the first one being the boon being stronger depending on range. This idea is bad because the boons already have a limit to how far their affects can reach adding another limit on range would be a bad change when something more inventive could of been done instead.

The next idea is so that only one boon could be used at a time. Well this is also a bad idea because this would either mean one survivor can place three separate boons with each one having it's own effect or the survivor could only bring one boon in at one game which wouldn't change anything because the main issue is not the fact that the boons stack. But instead the fact that they are time wasters for the killer to deal with and that they remove killer pressure

The final suggested change for circle of healing only working either as a self care perk or to heal others. This is the worst idea yet since it only address circle of healing but not the other boons and the actual change it's self wouldn't affect the perk in the slightest all you will be doing is narrowing the way the survivors use the perk which in a way would make the perk even more busted because then survivors will be able to use in in an more optimal way. So for example lets say it only works for self care well then everyone who uses the perk will bring a green medkit and speed add-ons to have 10 second heals for themselves making them get back into the game faster. Now let's say you did the opposite and it only works when healing others then everyone could bring bontany and solidarity so when everyone gets injured they could do a healing party and have like 5 second heals even further destroying the killers pressure.

Also with all of that in mind it's just important to note that boons aren't just a one time thing and behavior plan on adding more of them if we focus too hard on the boon that is currently the strongest we will never get to the real issues of why the boons are a problem to begin with

Best way to deal with boons - delete them from the game entirely
