Am I right??
Recently I was thinking about why the meta in dead by daylight never really changes, even with about 100 different perks on both sides.
My conclusion is: There is just one strategy that is seriously viable; Camping, Slugging and Tunneling (aka the unfun way of playing). Everything else can only work if the survivors are making blatant mistakes.
The strongest perks and addons survivors have are all related to hook denial, and the strongest killer perks and addons are all insta downs (or info things to end and start chases faster, which kinda does the same thing).
There is only one way of playing, that's why every new perk is rated meh, or just not worth running compared to the current never ending meta.
There is a massive lack of depth to the core gameplay of dead by daylight, and that's why perks are getting stronger and stronger to ridiculous extends, just to make them work in the meta.
Perks should be a great tool to shift the meta and shift the playstyle for either side, but not if there is only one single way of playing.
Tunneling has been the most efficient way of playing killer since forever, granted there are things like DS in the game, but they only put a band aid on the core issue.
This never ending meta and playstyle is by far the most complaint about thing in this game.
The only reason you can see different types of gameplay and strategies work sometimes, is because either side hasn't been playing as well as they could have in that particular match.
Now, this seems generally like an inevitable issue of any game, BUT in this game it's the worst aspect of the game and reduces gameplay and complexity to a clown fiesta of who brings the most busted perks / addons and avoids confrontation with the other side as much as possible.
I think that this is the biggest problem of dead by daylight and the main cause of a lot of other issues.
It took me longer to write this post than actually coming up with this stuff, so tell me why I'm wrong please!

Strongest perks on killers are usually slowdowns I think?
But it's in same principle, only way of playing as survivor is pretty much staying in gen.

I don't think slow downs are that great since they only ever do anything IF you apply pressure but do nothing on their own.

i get what you mean, id be interested to play a few matches where no one had a loadout, no perks, no add ons, just player skill.

You can do some pressure with tunneling.

Wait, what? What do you think are the best killer perks?

Or maybe it is because 90% of perks aren't viable, that could be it too, especially when people beg them to nerf bad perks. Perhaps that is the bigger issue, here. I do not know, I am not Sherlock Holmes.

Depending on the killer of course, insta downs and info perks

So you think something like Starstruck is better than Ruin / Pop / Corrupt?

Yes, being able to down multiple survivors with one hit is better than having regular chases to slow down gens.

Info perks is good, but killers who can utilize instadowns are generally bad killers.

Blight can use instadowns with iri tag, nurse uses a basic attack so she can insta down exposed survivors, Bubba can win the game with one use of his power, assuming no unbreakable (I know that bubba has huge limitations against the top players and relies heavily on survivor mistakes, but he showcases the sheer power he has.

Sure, and my point is that 90% of the perks aren't viable BECAUSE the core game is heavily flawed.
