It's 2022 and enough is enough
For the love of entity can killers please get the ability to swap characters in the pre-game lobby back. MMR has been tweaked since this change was implemented and I don't see the need to keep this archaic restraint on killers anymore.

No,they should just make it,the same for survivors.

Then everyone loses in the end. I'm fine with last-second swaps and all that as long as Killers can do it as well. Though i'm sure if survivors had this same restriction it would not last long before complaints flooded the forums.

Uhm… when you’re in a lobby the match has already been made. MMR has already been used. If you then change the killer’s character then the matchmaking goes all sorts of wrong.

But survivors are only skins. Or do you mean that survivors have to lock their perks and items before clicking on search?

This was a feature long ago and it worked perfectly fine. I just had a game as a level 1 cenobite with 1 perk equipped and still get matched with Red ranks, so matchmaking is already all sorts of wrong to begin with.

Nothing hurts more then seeing a survivor named "morimedaddymyers" and not playing myers

Id love to be able to swap my killer before match starts just like survivors do the last second item swaps. I had a survivor who had ghostface i love you or something name and i was so sad i wasnt GF at that round 😣

My condolences, I feel your pain :(

MMR is killer dependent. When I play clown my lobbies are harder than with legion. You could abuse this if you could switch mid lobby

Enough is enough!
I have had it with this ############# changes on this ############# game!
Everybody ready up!
About to kill some ####### survivors.

Is it though? I feel like game is just throwing you to whoever has waited the longest. I've had tournament squads against a killer im playing the first time and potatoes against my main, so im not so sure it works anymore

At this point MMR is a placebo but the system is still technically there so killer specific MMR is still a thing

In my own experience that sounds good on paper but in practice it seems to be only smoke and mirrors. I just bought Cenobyte and played him at level 1 with 1 perk equipped. When I get matched it is automatically with Red rank, a silver, and bronzes. I do not play killer as much these days so I'm in way lower ranks than these guys, but it seems no different who i'm matched with if i'm playing a level 1 Cenobite or a p3 lvl 50 Piggy.

MMR works fine as long as there are enough Killers to go around, or no one is dodging lobbies. Soon as either condition is met though, MMR goes out the window, and sanity with it. Have fun with your Killer who you haven't touched in months but just got a Daily for. Those 3 yellow Perks are going to work fantastic against a full-meta SWF Death Squad from Hell that had a Killer bail from the lobby, or might have waited "too long".

MMR was supposed to be killer specific. That was the whole purpose of the killer not being able to switch in lobby. This is not how it works though since all your killers are around the same MMR. So no need for it.

That‘s because Queue times are messed up right now so survivors are waiting long periods of time for matches. This leads to MMR brackets expanding and low MMR killers meeting high MMR survivors

I believe they have the means to make this system work in a way both sides can swap, regardless of the need for a patch to re-enable/disable the swapping feature. As it stands, we have a long about way for a faulty system to give killers the short end of the stick... What is even more irritating is that we had this feature for a very long time and such a rudimentary thing was seemingly not taken into account when making the system.

Last second MMR switching should be possible, indeed. Sigh.

It was, back when we didn't have MMR. We currently do (unfortunately) have MMR.
Also grades =/= skill.

No it's the samething survivors run specific builds for different killer's this why it was changed.Think about it what was the reason killers were locked in.Its because they knew who the were going against and killers would change to counter a specific group and that's the same thing survivors do when they enter a killer's lobby it's because they have a specific build against that killer.Ive seen videos and a streamer,I use to go to also told me this true and she knows ,who she gets in lobby with and who the killer is.
What would be the reason a survivor would complain about a killer who switched? Because they have something to let them know who's the killer?

You misunderstood my post. I am saying if survivors were locked out of swapping characters in the pre-game lobby then I'm sure the forums would be flooded with complaints and it would be changed rather quickly. I'd also be one of them 😂.

@GoodBoyKaru From my understanding even during the period they were "fine-tuning" MMR and turned it off they still kept this feature. It mainly just seems like a flaw in its design. I don't know much about coding, but you'd think that all these assets could be built differently into the system to accommodate such a rudimentary feature without sacrificing MM quality.

Its 2022 and we have per-killer mmr. Switching killers is not feasible when you could queue with a low mmr killer and switch to a high mmr killer.
0 -
Maybe that's because killers are being driven away with how pathetic and unthreatening they are?

The MMR is still a flawed and unsustainable solution to the much larger problem that they still haven't figured out since p2p era... Whether they base it on the killer or the matches there needs to be a better system in place. It fundamentally does not make sense design-wise to have the game set up in a way that allows survivors to change in lobby but not killers. As previously mentioned that should have been something taken into account before rolling out the changes years ago. it's as confusing as the way some animations are prioritized in-game.

So this is about survivors changing in lobby. Did you have one too many last second switch to flashlights?
0 -
In any of my responses when did I say that? I don't mind last-second switches as I do that playing survivor, so it doesn't bother me the few times I get on to play killer. I just stated what many others have before me, which is it's mind-boggling that killers got the short end of the stick and can't do something you would think would be as simple due to the flawed design of MMR. I would also say it's interesting how survivors are coded in such a way as skins and that they couldn't be as easily limited even if the devs wanted to. It's a mess.

Technically no because Survivors have the same gameplay as all survivors. Only thing they won't be able to do is quick switch.

Survivors don’t have powers, they’re literally just skins.

I hate when people are so insistent on throwing out the baby with the bath water. I'll agree that match making isn't perfect, but I very much like MMR being unique for every killer. I have insanely high MMR on my blight and do not want those same survivors when playing other killers.

I think the issue is they put a cap on MMR, and MMR is based entirely on kills and escapes. So bully squads can sandbag their own MMR to get into queues with newer killers.
