I took almost a 2 year break and after 2 weeks I am amazed this game has even survived
I don't even know where to being. Well, I'm an OG, of sorts. I started this game on its second month on console and what a game it was then. But back in the good ole' days we still had our community battles, the same battles that are still being fought today. This game is 1v4. Do any of you know how difficult it is to maintain balance in a game like this? All in all I'd say the devs have done a pretty good job over the years in terms of making a solid, well rounded, and balanced game in terms of game play, all things considered. I think the devs biggest faults with this game are not listening to the community of daily players, using common sense, and blatantly neglecting simple quality of life changes. For example, they have not even come close to making an effort towards lightening up the bloodpoint grind, not just for new and potential players but for all. The minor gestures of codes, daily login rewards, 1.5X Bloodpoints(seriously? every game in the world hosts double XP regularly and for extended periods), and various and sundry other things that award extra bloodpoints don't even matter in the grand scheme of trying to level 30+ unique killers and/or survivors and are almost a slap in the face. It reminds me of a litter of kittens that only get enough food daily to feed half of them, leaving some to wonder which ones will starve on a semi-regular basis. I understand that changes take labor hours which doesn't earn them revenue and that's why the big extravagant reworks some popular content creators have presented in the past have never come to light. But some of the fixes are easy, and so common sense. For example, make all perks one tier or reduce the cost of color coded items in the bloodweb by 2,000 each so it starts at 1,000 for white items and ends at 5,000 for pink items. Either one or a combination of both would be a massive improvement to quality of life and reduce the stress of leveling. Now, on to matchmaking. News Flash, a method of fair and optimized matchmaking in a game like this doesn't exist. It's actually mathematically impossible so get over it. Either play the game or don't. Stop crying because you lose a few matches. Perk, you ask? Don't even get me started. Nothing but aura reading and generator blocking/slowing for killers, and the survivors meta has been the same since before update 2.0.0 and its never going to change. Lastly, the latest killers are so unfun to play against and the method by which they can all be beaten is so far from where the game came from. Anti-loop, guaranteed damage, lets just get as much distance as we can and pray that our teammates are doing gens instead of crouching in the corn or hiding in a locker because they hear the 32 meter terror radius on a map the size of a matchbook. At least we don't have a solo queued Claudette with a key in every lobby now. Man, I used to love this game and I'm ashamed of the state its in today. Maybe there is hope for the fog yet, but I think(at least for me) the sunshine of other games is going to come out and fade it away.

Are you trying to summarize the whole forum in one post?

I started playing DBD again and I was already getting pissed off before I got into a match. The blood web is actually dogshit and one of the worst progression systems in any game.
- Annoying as hell to level up
- Full of useless brown addons and offerings that I will never touch
- Can’t even get the perks I want at the level I want
- Prestige does absolutely nothing, but the game wants to remind me to prestige every time I open a level 50 bloodweb

I’m with you on most stuff but you missed the mark with matchmaking. It’s not “mathematically impossible” to have a decent system in place, and telling people with legitimate criticisms to “stop crying” and “get over it” isn't going to get them onboard with the highly flawed system we currently have.

It didn't deserve to. Not after everything they have done.

A fully optimized matchmaking system could never be. The skill gap between low level players and high level players is too big and when you need to match 4 equals from one side with an equal from the other, unless you want unreasonable queue times would never be consistant. I am an ash rank survivor. Today I played about 30 matches and was only placed with roughly 3 red rank survivors the entire time. The killers however were red rank in EVERY match. I did about 70% of all gen progression in those matches and died on first or second hook I'd say about a dozen or more times with ZERO escapes.

Maybe if you don't enjoy a game you should continue the 2 years hiatus and enjoy those other games.

Games seldom have (or need) a fully optimised matchmaking system, and DBD is no exception. Many people just want improvements to be made over time.
