About Pictures.
So would it be possible if Behavior entrusted certain users who are obviously legal age and willing to verify if a picture is ya know distasteful and if it's not verify it for posting since clearly the mods don't have the time there are people who spend a ton of time on here or is this something the forums want to shy away from? is this outta the question?
What I mean by that is you would submit the picture and they'd have to select if it is allowed on the forums or not if you guys feel what I'm saying.
EDIT So basically I'm asking for a Database at which certain trusted users who do have the time that most of the Mods likely don't due to various things anyway those Users would be able to see the Images that have been submitted on a post they would be able to Verify if said Image is ya know or if it's forums friendly Obviously they'd have to be legal age obviously there would have to be a application process but could this be a potential solution there's probably a lot of people who lurk or even are on here a ton that would be down to do it. Also to make it clear I'm not talking about myself as I have bans on my account so don't really want to be involved in it just incase someone thinks otherwise. Just tossing out an idea that could help ease the Dev's/Mod frustration with weirdos posting ya know and Forums users being annoyed they can't post Images.

Imo they should just add spoiler tags to every picture so you cant see them unless you click it to reveal it. Ive seen other forums do that when its pictures posted of like the ending of the game
0 -
Yeah but that makes the risk worse though because you could click into surprise ya know. Having trusted people verify would be a lot better imo vs a system no system can 100% pick that stuff up.

Its like a half messure

I've got a solution that may work have it to where you have to be active on the forums for a good while like a month to gain the ability to post image that way it will significantly if not get rid of the trolls who post gore
2 -
There's already mods that take care of these kinds of thing. I think a much better solution would be a picture database that users can submit images to for moderation, although I don't know if that would be feasible, it would definitely get rid of the edge posting.
0 -
maybe images should only be allowed to be posted by users with a certain amount of comments/discussions.
8 -
That's exactly what I'm asking for but have trusted people verifying the images. Obviously you'd have to make people apply but I'm sure with how many people lurk here there would be some who care about keeping this place clean.
0 -
Then trolls will wait a month, we need a solution that doesn't just stop 99% of trolls, we need one that stops all of that activity.
1 -
That's a good idea but then that completely hurts those who are new to the forums and aren't actually ya know.
0 -
maybe, but i imagine if the reasoning was made clear they'd understand.
1 -
Exactly that's why I think the database with trusted users who are chosen could be solid because you'd have people making sure each image isn't ya know and on top of it if the image is bad you just click a button and off to a mod it's sent and it's never verified so no one else see it and bye bye that persons account.
0 -
I'm sure you would have people infiltrating that system, we're talking about people who have nothing else to do other than to upset others, they will do whatever it takes to have the opportunity to disturb others.
0 -
Yeah but if you make it the same way as applying for Mod that's gonna be really hard. Many trolls probably applied for Mod and look how many didn't get it haven't seen a troll Mod so far.
0 -
That's why I said active so they can't just wait a month and depending on their posts you can get them before they are able to gain the ability to
0 -
that isn't really feasible, you give people any slight opportunity to be scummy they will take it. the only way to completely stop it is to permanently disable images which isn't a great idea.
0 -
I mean, getting mod for this site must be pretty difficult, just becoming a trusted user, even if it took hundreds of posts, couldn't be that difficult.
0 -
It's pretty hard been here ages I've seen many people come and go plus look how many Mods there are it's heavily gatekept and for good reason obviously too many people who just simply troll.
0 -
Or, we can go with the image database idea, it would be a really slow process, likely taking weeks for an image to be given the ok, but it would stop the problem dead in it's tracks. I stumbled upon one of the images and I can't imagine if instead of me it was a kid who saw that.
0 -
that would make posting an image way too much of a hassle for anyone but people trying to troll, that's not a reasonable solution
0 -
Another solution have the only images be posted via steam xbox etc links for in game pictures and for the others who use gifs or YouTube videos as responses have a gif button kinda like how Twitter and discord have it and only let videos embed if it's either from YouTube or from the former
0 -
Well that's pretty much the only way I can see this being stopped, if there was an easy solution to this then we wouldn't be having this discussion, there's two options here: The nuclear option, and the even more heavy nuclear option. Either have the criteria for image uploading be super strict, or no images, both would suck but I know which one I would pick.
0 -
Sadly there's ways to abuse this as well. It's been done I've seen it. People just made multiple Youtube accounts and uploaded ya know and set it to only those who view the link can see it and spammed it before youtube removed it sadly there's ways to abuse it. Same with GIF's you'd be shocked what all they can do with those.
0 -
i feel like my suggestion is a good one
0 -
some of it wasn't
0 -
I have yet to see them but I believe it as toxic trolls tend to spam two types of pictures porn or gore and they chose gore
0 -
That's definitely the easiest to implement (aside from removing all images), but will give many opportunities to abuse.
0 -
Was the other porn
0 -
Just old fake shock images, if you've been on the internet for a while, you'll instantly know it's fake.
0 -
how so?
there was porn but also actual gore
0 -
Imagine someone at night making low effort responses to jack up their posts, then during the day they post the disturbing images.
0 -
Depends if they want to post some illegal #### or not
Edit to shorten the # to the number of the censored word
0 -
that's more effort than most trolls would go to. ideally the number of comments/discussions would be fairly high, enough to keep most people away while still being reasonable.
0 -
There was also gore porn, this time around the images were really nasty, hopefully the mods can resolve this soon.
0 -
I get that you're coming from a perspective of practicality, but no matter how you implement that kind of system, things are gonna slip through the cracks, and when it comes to this kind of content, this is something that can seriously disturb people and thus needs to be handled very carefully.
0 -
That's the kind of silly stuff I wish these trolls would rather post.
4 -
there is no reasonable method to stop this completely. you would either not be able to post images at all or wait absurdly long amounts of time to post them. things will always slip through the cracks, if you take the nuclear option it is a significantly worse experience for everyone.

Same

Fair enough, I'm just trying to provide solutions other than just removing images entirely, because I'm pretty sure that's what the mods will do.
1 -
I'm trying to avoid that option, I implemented further measures tonight to keep this place safe, because NOBODY deserves to see those images, not the users on this forum and not the moderators either.
I'm looking for a longer term solution and working with the hosting company so that we can avoid this person coming back time and time again to do this.
Images are important here, for practical things such as bug reports, technical issues etc and because we love to see the animal posts and the screenshots when you want to explain something. But we have to consider safety of our users and our mods above everything right now. Please rest assured this is something we're taking very seriously.
16 -
Yeah, not being able to post pictures makes this forum kinda boring. I hope they solve this ASAP.

You might want to disable the <> (embed via link) button just incase

"Safety"?
Are people DYING?
2 -
Not everybody wants to look at mutilated bodies?
9 -
What happened?
0 -
Sure, but that's hardly a SAFETY issue.
0 -
I think you're being pedantic.
12 -
Modern corpo speak + you gotta remember BHVR is in Canada.
Are you truly "safe" if you can risk having your feelsies hurt?
1 -
I used safety in that context, re mental health safety.
it was also 5am for me
9 -
You kinda sound like that middle management person who does not consider the mental health of their subordinates a security concern.
Direct bodily harm to a person is not the only criteria for stating a situation is a security concern.
Also psychological effects may reflect physically on some people.
While I agree that the majority of mentally stable adults and adolescents would hardly be shaken by a picture and would just shrug it off, it can't be generalized that is the case for everyone.
Also the tough guy mentality is rarely constructive or helpful.
11 -
That is an extremely loose and broad attempt to use the word "safety".
OSHA is not gonna come in and cite a business for a "mental health safety violation".
