The 5th Perk Slot Concept for Killers

As Dead by Daylight ages, the skill of the general community grows. More people are learning how to loop efficiently, how to exploit Killer weaknesses, and how to perform absurd "techs" every day.

I believe Killers should be a little bit stronger, but not without having earned it.

The idea is: Once a Killer has reached Prestige 3, a 5th perk slot opens up, allowing the Killer to bring one of their designated Teachable Perks unimpeded.

This may not improve the performance of ALL Killers, but it is a broad improvement, and may not be too difficult to code.

Perhaps BHVR can put it in as another Beta feature to decide its worth?

This change would also give players a valid reason to work to prestige their Killers, thus playing the game more.

Commenting to get this post situated since it was moved.

Readers, tell me your thoughts on how this concept could potentially be better.

I like this, and the limitation of only that killer's teachable perks is good, if limiting for some like Oni and Wraith, while necessary for some like Artist and Trickster.

Would be fun, but feels more or less band-aid-y.

I like that. I never understood why killer only have 4 perks because I don't have the feeling killer perks are that much stronger then survivor perks and they got 16 and since many perks affect other survs and not only you i think it's time to give killer at least one or maybe even two more slots but with some restrictions because I think slowdown builds would get way to strong so maybe just limit it to one of there own perks and one general perk

I didn't want to add the ability to bring Generic Perks because 9/10 players would just bring NOED every game lol

Yeah, sadly not all Killers' teachables are good 😅 but it can be really beneficial for most of the roster. It can also be a fun little game to try and figure out which of the 3 Teachable Perks the Killer brought.

I think if they go the route of additional perk slots, they'd have to add limitations to use of perk slots PLUS make certain perks take multiple slots up.

IE one tracking perk, one gen regression, one chase, one end game, etc.

No ones interested in playing against Blights and Nurses with five gen regression perks.

That's why I specifically said that the 5th perk can only be a Teachable Perk lol.

Clown could have Pop as his 5th for example, but he's still Clown.

Actually, I think super good survivors are interested in dealing with them... otherwise game will be too easy.

I don't think limiting to their teachables would be really broken especially since it would prevent my main concern (stacking 5 oppressive perks, stacking slowdowns) because let's be real, most perks are absolutely garbage (ie oni's, pigs, wraith) and a lot of perks don't really make sense for that specific killer's playstyle - ie iron maiden on legion, huntress lullaby. I don't think prestige should be the consideration, either. I have p3 killers and survivors that I don't even play just because I needed something to pour bps in at that time.

I think there should be something more to prestiging than some bloody outfit and a slight increase to rare items and whatever, but I'm not convinced an extra perk slot (especially as limiting to the killers own teachables) is sorta worth it

I don't think so personally, it doesn't necessarily make it harder or matches more interesting it just makes it boring, on both sides.

I like this, in theory, if it wasn't for the fact there are so many inbetween perks. IE Undying can be tracking perk + utility, rancor is both a tracking and EG perk,
