[ Survivor | Perks ] Additional CoH Nerf possibilities. (Also boon drawback/general ideas.)
CoH's nerf was nice, but many people in the community feel like it's not enough. I'm here to propose a few changes that could possibly help.
Circle of Healing: "Reduces the Range of your boon's aura by X meters", or possibly "When snuffed, the dull totem you blessed is cleansed."
The former is a much smaller nerf, but could still help in the long run as it would take much more time to get to the healing zone, while also tipping off the killer to where it could be. Compounded with an possible -25% healing speed nerf (totaling 50%), this perk may be less annoying from killer side, while not being entirely useless.
Though the Ladder addresses a different, and much greater problem the community has with it. The fact that CoH can go up an unlimited number of times after you snuff it, essentially providing infinite heals, at a much faster rate. Totems breaking upon being cleansed would provide some kind of limit to that, so a player can't simply re-bless a totem repeatedly throughout a match.
There's also many other potential effects a boon could have as a drawback, such as "Booning takes X% longer each time yours was snuffed", or "The boon's aura becomes visible to the Killer"
Boons that affect the base properties that all boons share would be interesting too, such as a support 'boon' perk that increases the radius of the totem's aura while adding some kind of drawback, such as a much slower blessing speed. Though this kind of effect with the current circle of healing would be very frustrating to deal with, so until BHVR nerfs CoH in some significant capacity, it likely shouldn't be added as it would be very problematic.

They've already mentioned that they have no intentions of changing the boon mechanic. But they don't even need to, the only problematic boon is Circle of Healing.
Shadow Step, Exponential & Dark Theory all require the killer to interact with a survivor inside the boon radius. This provides the opportunity for the killer to deal with it in a few ways. They can either ignore it and commit to the chase, or quickly opt into snuffing it out as the survivor is needing to loop them close to it to get any value. The effects are strong, but a killer can be more attentive against SS and just not slug against Exponential. There's decent counter-play. (DT is trash.)
Circle of Healing is the only boon that doesn't require the killer to be in its radius for it to get any value. You want to set the boon up in a dead zone in a corner of the map, where the killer has no incentive to go and milk the healing. The killer is then put in a lose-lose situation. If they go and snuff it, they're not chasing any survivors or defending generators. If they ignore it, then the survivors are constantly healthy and the killer struggles to apply pressure. And even if they break it, the survivor can just put it back. Even if you put a cool down on the perk or have a totem break when the boon is snuffed out, there are still 5 totems to get through and 3 other survivors who can have the perk. If you're breaking COH up to 5 times, you've already lost.
It's fundamentally broken in design. You can choose to ignore the other 3 boons and not get screwed over by it. But no matter what you do against COH, you lose. Because it's a healing perk of this nature, it's either destined to be oppressive or garbage if you decide to nerf the numbers or change the entire perk.
Just remove it, imo. All the other healing perks in the game are far more interesting and promote altruism and fun gameplay. But they won't remove it because they're stubborn af.

Yes remove the only selling point of mikela. If they ever did I would want a refund

Lol they’re not gonna delete a perk.

CoH just needs a smaller range for the Self-Heal option, the 75% helth speed can stay in those 24m.
Boon's blue splashzone tint needs more blue.

I think if circle of healing (boons in general, but CoH is the only real issue), shouldn't show ALL survivors a permanent aura. The survivor that equipped it should have a permanent aura. The other teammates and killer should just get a noise notification and a short bubble location notification. That would help. One other idea I've thought of is Hex: Pentimento should allow you to break boons and rebuild them as Pentimento stacks... Then the survivor could bless it once more but if you broke it the second time it would remain broken (much like survivors breaking a Pentimento leaves it unusable).

People need to remember it's not as if survivors got boons and killers didn't get anything... I love the Scourge Hook mechanics. Not quite as strong as a hex but stronger than most standard perks. Plus it can't be permanently disabled early like a hex. I love the idea that it's activated by me, as killer by pushing chases towards those hooks instead of losing a perk from a survivor action.
