Boil Over is so...
Garbage now with the great nerf Aura Hooks should not show between 24-32m then it would be somewhat more viable its bed enough there is hooks like 5 steps away from the next hook

Boil Over joins many other things in this game in the "Terrible vs PC killers but godlike vs Console ones" category.

Tbh all I can hear is "this perk isn't an unbeatable situation anymore so it's bad". It's still good for the 100% wiggle sway.
14 -
Do you really want to get slugged entire game.
1 -
Really shows the general survivor attitude. When something isn't completely broken or guarantees multiple extra health states, it's "garbage."
11 -
I don't blame them, meta perks of survivors are pretty much that.
DH is one free health state, BT is one free health state, DS is one free health state, of course something that doesn't give free health state would be trash.
7 -
I get by just fine with enjoyable perks that aren't that crutchy. Something isn't trash just because it doesn't brainlessly fix all your mistakes for you.

Boil Over was being abused on certain maps, to the point where killers had to slug to get any kills. So yes, it needed a change. It's still good for the 100% wiggle sway.
0 -
And yet, I still see Boil Over builds being used.
3 -
And people get to high ground for some reason, LOL
2 -
I had two survivors disconnect in a match today because I slugged them. They were running builds to avoid being hooked, but apparently countering that by doing the one thing available to me was unacceptable.
I do not think most survivors really want what they're asking for, here.

The thing is for console player the new Boil Over is a nightmare. I have seen a different between Console Killers Vs PC Killers when Boil Over is used. PC Killers can easily adjust and move for the sway but Console can't for some odd reason. So it is garbage to console players.
3 -
DH is free health state.
BT is gives chance to run next loop against camper and tunneller killers.
DS is gives chance to run away from tunneller killers.
And no, Boil Over garbage perk but we have some good perks does not give you "free health state": Iron Will, Built to Last, Spine Chill, Sprint Burst etc. I would use more fun perks but sadly we need to use DS & BT because without them, you have nothing against camp & tunnel.
2 -
Thats not true at all! What are you trying to say about console players? Thats bs, sorry!
Im a console player and i have 0 issues with Boil Over users, i kill the majority of them actually! When i use Boil Over as survivor i give killers heck so it depoends on the build and player and has nothing to do with console at all!
On a side note: Just slug em! If they go to a high place ignore them and get them later! Only thing you gotta be careful about with Boil Over players is the Boil Over/Soul Guard/Unbreakable combo. THATS really annoying! haha

Ty for having common sense.

BO is so much better now than what it used to be. It went from completely useless to something I can actually justify using occasionally and that's really all I wanted. I've even managed to get some good use out of it in solo queue.
An artist downed a survivor as they were trying to leave the exit gate so I baited her into knocking me down too which led to her picking me up instead. The cluttered exit gate areas in Silent Hill had her getting caught on the terrain and allowed me more than enough time to wiggle free (Didn't help her that a solo Yui was running up to take a protection hit along with Break Out just before I broke free). Effecting aura reading a little more would be nice but I don't think it's necessary.

DH is free health state, BT is free health state until whatever seconds after unhook, DS is basically free hook state that last 60 seconds.
Basically same thing.
0 -
Depends.
You tunnelled survivor, they had BT & DS. So yeah on this case, you are giving them free health state. You had chance to run another survivor but you wanted tunnel and you created this case. If you would not tunnel, they would never get value from BT & DS.
But DH is different. It does not matter what you did or how you played. Survivor has 3rd health state.
2 -
I mean, tunneling is just inevitable if you want to win as killer. Against sweaty survivors you are usually gonna lose almost 2 gens for your first hook unless you are playing a top tier character. That's completely unsustainable and the game is on track to be over in 4-5 minutes. I don't know why people still think you can get 12 hooks in that timeframe while swapping targets and moving to new areas of the map with fresh pallets.
Maybe as Nurse. As someone like Clown? It's not happening and your only viable strategy is to tunnel someone into the ground ASAP.
Also it's easier to just negate DH by playing 1 shot characters. I don't hate mindbreaker on killers who are ambushing survivors at generators either.
0 -
I did not say anything about tunnelling is wrong or anything. Ofcourse killers needs tunnel and sometimes proxy camp. This is good tactic for try win. But survivors have not any game mechanic to fight against this. So they need BT & DS. I would blame game itself for being design for both sides.
2 -
Boil Over Was never good to begin with. The buff made it abuseable, but not good. The nerf made it less abuseable but didn't make it worse
2 -
It doesn't matter if you tunnel or not, some survivors bodyblock with BT because it's free health state.
"You can play around it to negate it" doesn't mean "this perk doesn't grant free health state", what it does IS giving free health state to survivors for limited amount of time, hell, name of the perk itself is "borrowed time".
we don't even need to talk about DH as it's literal broken perk.
0 -
Eh, I still feel that the perk is quite strong. I definitely run it, especially when I duo. One body block and breakout saves you from mostly anything but the corniest of hook set ups.

And noed is free kills
1 -
What I'm saying is terrible controller settings combined with bad optimisations makes for a hellish experience when playing with a controller of any kind, however console players have it worst. 9 times out of 10 getting through a single doorway is a struggle let alone making it anywhere.
Source: I own DBD on Switch and a PS4 DualShock, so tested both on my PC and the Switch. Switch had major issues, PS4 controller had major issues, M&K was minorly inconvenienced.
2 -
Noed is free health state but for killers.
0 -
Sorry but don’t agree because I really don’t like perks that penalise new/inexperienced players while has little affect on good ones.
0 -
As a Clown main I'm gonna disagree with that completely, unless something has changed in my month break, I won most of my games without tunneling anyone out and it was rarely a sweat fest either, games being done in 4-5 minutes has always been an extremely rare occurrence for me.
0 -
It entirely depends on time you play and region you play, the nightmare where only sweatiest survivors live, certainly does exists.
And survivors don't need any 200IQ chase capability or anything to make it happen, just a some amount of "sticking with generator whenever possible" mentality and game will end in 5 minutes unless killer does something great.
0 -
Tell me you abused boilover without telling me you abused boilover
0 -
I'll add on to this as I play on series x
Narrow areas with clutter around it is hellish to the point where I drop them and use them as bait
2 -
Typical telling of a killer who cant understand how stupid it is to play perks that are extremely situational and completely in the hands of the opponent.
0 -
Thanks, but my standard build is Bond, Detective's Hunch, Borrowed Time and Iron Will. I've played thousands of hours of solo survivor as well as SWF and killer.
0 -
A person who plays both sides?
That's umpossible
On a serious note I find it funny how often they scream killer main when you have a killer pfp and call out a fellow survivors bs lol
It's not like we like the to play both sides and we put a killer as a pfp as we love the way they Play lol
Edit to add my survivor perks I'm currently using just in case I get the prove it comment
Iron will, prove thyself, self aware and spine chill
1 -
Exactly, and I think it's because I play killer that I don't want to bring the generic survivor perks that everyone and their dog runs and makes playing the game dull from the other side.
I only run BT to not be a burden to my team because it's others who suffer when I don't, and Iron Will just opens up options that aren't available without it. If anything I still think IW should be nerfed, but I'll use it as long as it gives me a chance to escape killers who rely on headphones more than me.
Edit: Cultured Pig pfps unite.
1 -
Yep and I wouldn't want to run clearly broken perks like pre nerf boilover
Like if I want to troll the killer I bring a friend, map offerings plus diversion and hide and throw rocks as it's funny especially if one of you makes it out via hatch lol
0 -
I have a anti-tunnel build revolved around Boil Over what do you guys think?
Boil Over/ Breakdown/ Soul Guard/ Unbreakable with Alex's toolbox and the add-on that doesnt notify the killer when Sabotaging with a toolbox and the brown or yellow extra charges add-on
If the killer wants to get me out the game fast bc no one rescued me with BT and he or she thinks or assumes that i dont have DS (which i dont lol) or doesnt care about DS (big mistake sometimes bc you can lose whole games bc of this) or is willing to eat a DS then they'll get so frustrated and just leave me! lol Thats the idea
0 -
Boil Over was not intended to guarantee free escapes but situational escape.
This perk doesn't need a buff against the Killer's main objective while they are so many second chances perks.
0 -
If you want to "abuse" Boil Over still, go to RPD with it. Killers will struggle to carry you to hooks in all the hallways because of the extra wiggle sway. I even missed a hook once on Dead Dawg because the wiggle sway just pulled me all the way to the left, catching me off guard. Plus, the wiggle bonus from drops is still fair. Granted you have to wiggle a bit before the killer drops or use Flip Flop for example, but that's called "working for it". Now you actually have to work for it instead of just getting free value because the killer dropped 1 foot while carrying you.
