Should Undying be a base mechanic?
Anytime you run Hexes Undying is pretty mandatory to keep your hex up for more than 30 seconds. If it was a base mechanic it would free up a spot for other stuff. It feels bad to have to run it to get value out of Hexes. Of course the aura reading wouldn't come with it. I don't think it would be broken.
Thoughts?

Remove hex altogether, balance things accordingly.

No

Why?

Because of totem spawns. Some of them are bad but on some maps they can be really hard to find and combine it with S tier killers, it would make them possibly way too strong in those situations while M1 killers would still only rely on RNG spawns.

noed, ruin, haunted grounds, devour hope….
Double the effect would make it way op.
Especially noed + blood warden

If anything, the aura should be base kit. The perk? Hell no.
2 -
You serious?

No the perk wouldn't stay the same it would obviously need a rework if your running DH or ruin your going to bring Undying anyway.

Yes, undying shouldnt be basekit

There's like 3 maps with crazy hidden totems.
0 -
But iv used X & undying and lost them in 16seconds...
The real issue is totems spawns and survivor spawns
0 -
So fix the totem spawns on other maps, especially autohaven where you can see them in the open from 30m away

They said in the last q&a that they don't want to change spawns because then you could eliminate that part of the map as not having a hex.

Totems have been this way since there release while they have gotten a little better I wouldn't count on them especially with boons.

nah

I'm not sure what you mean? I have watched every dev update since the launch of the game and I'm not sure what you're on about?

- we have a "WHAT IF (god tier perk) WAS BASEKIT" thread every day
- Negates the risk-reward aspect of totems that makes them balanced, no

The original design for Undying was perfect. They should revert the change.
0 -
No it shouldn’t be basekit.
However it should not warn survivors who go near dull totems.

It's not even a God tier perk. You wouldn't run Undying on it'd own. It's used to make hexes last more then 20 seconds on average.

"Not even a god tier perk"
->Used by every killer at all levels because of the astronomical difference it makes in the longevity of the strongest perks in the game
Sure bud, we believe you

Ok I was wrong it wasn't last q&a but they said that they don't want to make it impossible for survivors to spawn within a certain area of Hexes because once you know there's a hex you know that it's not in that area of the map.
Boons are also a problem because if you make them to hard for the survivors to find then they are less likely to use them. On the killer side if boons are hidden really well and the killer has to spend a lot of time finding it they can become unbalanced.

It's a secondary perk at best and completely useless on its own.

Hex perks are the strongest perks in the game?

NGL, if Undying were basekit, I might run ruin AND another slowdown/gen regression perk with the extra slot, at least on some killers. And that would be kinda OP. Corrupt + Ruin + Undying using only two slots? Or maybe Grim Embrace?
So no, it absolutely should not be basekit.
I would be on board with reverting it to its original state, though.

Just let killers reset their hex totems like you can boons.
2 -
Or just run Corrupt, PoP and Call of Brine for a far better outcome.
1 -
Ruin doesn't really mix well with other regression perks by design I'm sure. If your blocking gens it's not regressing.
1 -
Oh you're referencing the distance to your spawn point and yeah that makes sense but that's not the issue.
The issue is them spawning in the open, in sight when your camera rotates or in sight while working on a gen. None of these should happen tbh.

There is no perks that is strong enough for 30 seconds uptime, which is basically guaranteed in every decent match.

I agree but I feel like boons have added a new layer plus a new problem. They have been so hesitant to fix totems since hag came out I have little faith in it happening.
0 -
Then what would happen with the perk itself? Would it only give you Aura reading?
0 -
Another undying totem, why not.

I dont mind people booning my hexs as it takes way longer, but Im not a fan of boons in general. I wish totems was blocked for the first 60seconds

What am I reading? Undying basekit?
Weird.

No, but if you're assuming Ruin goes down at some point (even with Undying), it'd be nice insurance. As mad as it sounds, some people (not me) even run Pop and Ruin together, with the assumption that Ruin will go down at some point.
Or you wait you run something like Grim Embrace, hook three survs and avoid hooking the last until Ruin goes down. Just when you get free of Ruin, some new slowdown appears.
My entire point was that having Undying be basekit might make you consider risky/inefficient options that you might not have considered before you opened up that perk slot. Assuming anyone running one of the few powerful Hexes is almost always going to be running Undying regardless.
As a killer I'd love it, but it's too much.
