Switching to a flashlight at the last second in the lobby gets you tunneled and facecamped
Comments
-
you so so wish queues were anything but instant for most people. i can't even do my bloodweb
2 -
So you wouldn’t facecamp and tunnel if the survivor pre-loaded a flashlight you won’t know about until the match is loading? Even though the result is the same as last second switching?
1 -
But its the intention like changing toolbox for keys.
0 -
You will evebtually

Imagine camping/tunneling a survivor cause they brought an item.
3 -
I think the better option is have everyone in your group play flashlights, then switch to toolboxes at the last second.
1 -
Yeah, the intention is to not show your hand. Just like any smart person would do for an advantage over an opponent. Particularly with flashlights, no point revealing them early when killers have a perk that literally 100% counters them and punishes you for trying to use them for their only function (save Hag, Wraith, Nurse, and Artist).
1 -
@hailxsatanxeveryxday my point is it's a ridiculous over reaction. It's basically throwing a tantrum.
2 -
Well and when i want to play casually as killer i won't deal with that tryhard mentality. They want to evade any counter measure (sucks for them i always use the lord and saviour Lightborn, remember i play for BP and relaxation not the win) and earn my ignorance. No interaction until i want my 4th bbq stack and back to ignoring, much less stress than tunneling or camping them and makes them sometimes even more salty.

No, if you want to see what throwing a tantrum actually looks like, I highly recommend you employ this strategy and then watch their reaction. You will learn the difference very quickly.
1 -
To be perfectly frank, the one perk that did justify a tunnel was pre-nerf OoO. Many players have not been gentle with their users.
Last second-switches, especially pre-nerf keys wasn't very much appreciated either.
That being said, there is no need for anyone to justify any tactic they use.
0 -
Really, how is it any different? In both cases it's someone throwing a fit because they don't like what their opponent did.
3 -
It's not any different. They play dirty, and they get a dirty response. What I don't understand is why you think I'm wrong for answering scummy game tactics with scummy game tactics.
I don't "so, so wish" anything. I play survivor, too, almost as much as killer, and I have to make sure I have Netflix up on my tablet for the lobby.
Sometimes the queue is instant (especially during the day), but other times I have to wait 10-20 minutes between matches. I'm not really a big fan of that.
Queues are almost always instant for killer, though, unless a new killer was just released the day before.
Pre-loaded a flashlight? What's that supposed to mean?
If someone switched to a flashlight with 40 seconds left, fine; I won't target them unless they're being obnoxious. I don't know what you mean by "pre-loaded a flashlight you won't know about". I'm really only going after someone if they switched to it in the last 5-10 seconds of the lobby and it looks like they were doing their best to catch me off-guard.
Enjoy your four-man slug. Chances are I switched to Franklin's, anyway.

My survivor queues are almost instant
2 -
My survivor queues are instant too. I figured with all the Killers leaving because of CoH, Decisive Strike, Borrowed Time, Boil Over, Medkits, Toolkits, Broken Keys that it would take forever to queue up.
0 -
You probably just want items removed from the game.
0 -
Jokes on you, I get camped and tunnelled regardless of what I bring or when I select it.
2 -
Perhaps killers aren't actually leaving like some people say here, but it's about times when people play who would've thought
1 -
I suggested earlier we go to the DbD Mobile format, where players cannot change their load out after they queue. Survivor or killer. So you would be put into a lobby, and assuming it finds all four survivors quickly, have five seconds to see their items before the loading screen. And you said you had no problem with the idea.
1 -
And now maybe with some context, please?
Region, platform, crossplay on/off, time of day you play?
Arguments like " but my queue time..." Without context are not comparable, useless and as empty as "Nuh uh, for me it's different because I say so".
At some point i am just tired of having to tell this again and again in every queue time discussion.
Edit: i forgot to add @hailxsatanxeveryxday since your argument is the same in this context.

To be fair I think it’s the making everybody wait the full minute to start the match because the survivor thinks they’re pulling a smooth trick by doing a last second switch to a flashlight or whatever that’s the annoying part.

Europe, steam with crossplay on, hours of play as survivor: 4-7pm

Thank you.

Hypothetically I guess the thinking is maybe some killers will swap in Lightborn if they see a flashlight and swapping in the flashlight at the last second doesn’t let them do it? 🤷♂️
It’s still super dumb. Flashlights aren’t good items in the first place, in my opinion anyway, and if a killer really like Lightborn they’ll probably just use it to begin with. Plus a lot of killers never use it outside of a gimmick build because it’s not even a very good perk in the first place.

Sounds like a win to me. I last second switch but it's not because I am some trolling ######### it's because I know killers fear the sight of one flashlight and will bring Lightborn/Franklin's over again 1 flashlight. I don't even save I just blind at every pallet cause I find it funny when they run into walls blind. Go ahead tunnel me....it's what I want you to do.
1 -
Well, then switch it to the DbD Mobile lobby. No one is waiting or last second switching. And solo queue survivors finally get some decent pre-game information about their teammates. Sounds like everyone wins to me!
1 -
I have no problems with that at all. Honestly other than the controls on DbD Mobile being tough to deal I like other things it does that I kind of wish the PC dev team would find a way to bring over.

It would also solve the issue of people being mismatched due to lobby dodging. In other words: don’t queue for a match if you’re not ready to play, and against people of your MMR.

If you read my comments, I did actually mention that survivor queues are much more reasonable for me during the day, but if you want me to be more specific, I play either on Stadia or PC (there's cross-progression between the two) with crossplay enabled, and I'm in Colorado.
Killer games are usually instant for me regardless of the time of day unless a new killer was just released in the past week, in which case queues can be insane. I do notice that there can be a two minute wait time sometimes during the day, but at night, I'm in a lobby in a matter of seconds.
Survivor games are still not as quick as killer games during daylight hours (which are a matter of seconds), but they're usually less than five minutes. After nightfall, they take much longer, and in the witching hours, I'd better be in the mood for a killer game, because it's not unusual for me to get through half an episode of Supernatural waiting for a survivor lobby.
While we're on the subject, I don't know why the hell I watch that show. I'm halfway into the second season, and I ######### hate the main characters, and the writing leaves much to be desired, but I'm hooked.
It's a date.
No.

Yeah but what about the two other bully buds that also brought in flashlights and the Leon with the Flashbang
0 -
@hailxsatanxeveryxday because I don't think putting on an item last second is scummy. There's no reason they should advertise what they're bringing. Tunneling and facecamping them over it just feels like a child throwing a tantrum.
2 -
As killer main, even 4 last second ninja flashlights don't phase me. After there are all manners of counters that don't depend on perks, starting by the fact that they will most likely flock to you the moment you down someone. Saves time finding them.
Now when you get 4 last second event toolboxes, that's when #### gets real.

where I am survivor not instant killer is tho.
also switch last sec is scummy but what bother me more is not the switching but tho who never ready up make us all wait and with my killer lobby being instant I wait till there 6 sec left then dodge, you like the lobby make so you have to wait longer now.

dang you're lucky mine are 5 minutes pretty much the whole day.
