Why is Artists not that offten played?

she's played quite often in higher mmr, she is quite strong. but personally, I don't think she is fun to play or play against. the birds seem clunky to use. I thought I was seeing a lot more of her because nurse is disabled. like she's strong, but not fun for either side

He gameplay boils down to survivors holding shift w and then you holding w then pressing m1. Occasionally you get cool plays with her but her kit is set up so that the only way for that to happen is for the survivors to let you do it and not start removing birds right away.

Same reason with Hag. Boring. Her power is just makes me sleep when i play her.
20 -
Because its not a fun killer to play or go againts.
0 -
Super boring on both sides. She's really clunky to use and needs to be in order to not be broken. The trade off is that it then becomes viable to pre-drop pallets and leave the tile when she goes to set up birds. It's really bland gameplay

She's just another range attack killer. This one just has the gimmick of firing birds at you.

Idk if I would consider her ranged I mean she does have the capability to be ranged but thats more up to the survivors or bad map rng.

Shes really not, 50 games iv seen her once and even then she got 5 hooks and that was with a DC.
But shes just not that fun, her gameplay is a little meh in all honesty you just place bird, walk etc
Before I get asked how I know I'm high mmr I have 82% escape rate over the last 50 games.

The slow down does feel really bad but at the same time necessary other wise she would be able to set birds and then move right into a m1.
The problem is to get those cool bird shots you either need bad survivors who won't instantly repeal or a really weak tile they have to leave then vault or drop a pallet.
I played her for about a day then went back to huntress because I have more control over them sick shots.

I feel like you just didn't go against a good artist. Pain resonance + dead man's switch and she just shoots birds at every gen across the map whenever she isn't in chase. It's extremely hard to deal with if you're not in a swf
0 -
I don't understand this. Unless you want to give her the M1 hit, she is absolutely a range attack killer. Her biggest strength is being able to cut off loops by placing her birds around them and hitting you over pallets, windows etc.
0 -
Exactly. The long range snipes are pretty easily avoidable. Just hop in and out of a locker. Don't even need to spend the time doing the repel action in most cases.
0 -
Nah she wasnt that good but neither was the survivors so thats probably why I versed her. She did have some decent perks but that dont make the killer.
Dont get me wrong I'm not saying shes weak, shes just not fun to play and most killers dont get played. Iv versed about 6odd killers in those 50games lol

Let go of the gen before she hooks and then wait for her to shot the birds. She has like a 19 second cooldown after firing all 3 after that there is maybe 15-20 seconds of DMS if she shoots birds at your gen.

The other day I hit a shot from like half way across the map and couldn't believe it. The Jake didn't try to repeal at all and ran in a straight line. If he would of done anything but that I wouldn't of got him.

Nailed it on the fact that she's not fun to play, which is probably the primary reason

Not interesting, not scary, not game-changing.
what more needs to be said?

Me personally, I love artist, mostly win with her, love her cueball in the corner pocket style, but she feels like a killer you have to wrap your mind around before playing, despite being 114%. She just plays differently, and I notice when I switch to another range killer or even nemisis, I throw myself off because my brain is stuck between predicting movement between tiles and getting off quick shots and corner hits.
I feel like she's different enough from the other anti-loops that you really need to play into her to get her down. The idea is amazing tho, a trap killer with angled set up shots! She's the kind of killer you can have fun losing with because it's just fun to get skill shots with her power.

Her counterplay just makes her more boring to play as
1 -
Because there are better choices for Killer

She's a boring, overpowered, unfun killer. She also looks stupid. If she was chasing me through a darken forest with her stupid chicken-neck walking, I might just slap her silly.
3 -
I guess it's because a lot of survivors realized that pre dropping pallets and leaving loops is the way to play against her, which results in incredibly boring and dull gameplay for both sides
0 -
Because there’s nothing fun about her
0 -
Right I don’t play against her anymore #########??
0 -
She’s too weak. People talk about how survivors don’t like playing against her as if that’s ever stopped killers.
She has far too much counterplay. Lockers. Long cooldowns. Slowdowns galor when trying to deal with W gamers.
She can quickly change into not having a power. It surprises me when players say she’s an S tier killer. She’s too weak.
0 -
I actually like playing her but I get why people don’t enjoy her.
Since the time I started playing this game though (which was around the midchapter between twins and trickster), artist was the only new killer that I didn’t see a lot of when she came out. I think I went against 2 total in the first week. She dropped off fast.
0 -
Way too clunky feeling and for the average player you will not get many downs.
0 -
I feel it's very strange when people say something like "not fun for both side", like how can opponent's fun be a reason to not use a killer.
3 -
I don’t know her play stats but keep in mind there are 27 killers (including Sadako) so the average killer pick rate is 1/27. Basically if you play one game a night you’ll only see a given killer once a month on average. Some are more popular than average, some less, but on the whole that’ll be the rate. Personally for instance I just play the killer I have a daily mission for each night if Ii have one, so I don’t end up playing any given killer more than a few times a month, if that, and a bunch of killers don’t get played in a given month.

She's played quite a lot, but I don't play her because she's boring to play as imo.
1 -
I'd just rather play Twins. I don't mean that in a bad way, by-the-by--I like playing Twins.

I personaly really enjoy playing her but atm I am prestiging and using up puddings on other killers so ye but once i am done I will play her alot more.
But I feel like ppl are too lazy to understand how you play her properly, get a very early poor first impression and think shes an anit loop killer and then drop her immidiatly, sadly this happens ALOT of to new Killer.

I really like Artist (have said this more than a few times) but her gameplay makes killer even more boring than it already is. I find her a bit more fun to play against (assuming no DMS in play) but her birds are only as useful as survivors allow them to be.....and no offense that is ######### lame.
0 -
I don't like to play nor verse her. Now that I got her perks unlocked don't really see myself using her anymore.
0 -
Only half of that fact is enough to answer the question. You aren't supposed to focus on the commentary part.
1 -
Because she is difficult to learn. And some find her boring to play.
0 -
1 - Difficult to learn
2 - Unfun to learn
Same reason as twins. Except artist is an actual good killer.

Last time I played The Artist, her Brutality gain was still broken, meaning she earns fewer Bloodpoints than she should. As far as I know, that hasn't been fixed. It bugs me, so I'll probably continue to not play her until the devs address it. I only bring her out for Dailies.
0 -
Shes boring. No real chases, shutting down loops, easy downs even against experienced survivors because theres nothing they can do.
Not a challenging killer.
0 -
Play her and find out
0 -
I do and she is very fun to me. I also like to play VS her but she is quite rare to be found.
1 -
She's only A tier. You need to be S tier as killer, or accept that certain matches will be unwinnable.
0 -
It's not hard in a swf.
1 -
I'm a solo.

I would say very poor add-ons for a killer. The requirement of needing two hits, 1 for repel and follow-up shot makes her a killer who has somewhat poor snowball capacity.
Cast-time for placing birds is pretty slow and makes her feel clunky to play. it takes 8 seconds to for survivor to repel crows, but she has 5 second cooldown for firing a single crow with 1 second cast time. It means you have a lot of pressure to land the consecutive hit. Stressful power much?
I play her on occasion but I think she would benefit a lot from faster gameplay and add-on pass. non-scaling cooldown per bird use, lower cast time to place crows and more useful add-ons would make her get played more. Her slow-paced gameplay leads her to be boring for some players.

She also take about a second to place birds. 5 seconds after the first bird then 1 second to place and 1 second firing animation giving you a whole second to get that shot off before they repeal the birds and you have to start over. She really counts on survivor not instantly repealing.
Most the time the game ends in a w vs w match and that's the most boring gameplay.

"She also take about a second to place birds."
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. All her actions could use speeding-up. Too clunky to play, Not very fluid.
She is relatively new killer so I wouldn't expect any add-on reworks/base-kit improvements.
W vs W play happens with nearly every killer. I would say she is suppose use her ranged capacity to mitigate its effectiveness but her ranged capacity is a bit lackluster.

not a fan of the noises she makes
