How to make The Thing work agains SWF

So one of the biggest issues the community seems to have with the Thing as the killer is that it would be impossible to hide among the survivors if their a SWF. One way that could counter this is by Infecting the survivors similar to Plague and once a survivor is infected the Thing can activate its power to take control of any infected survivor for a short duration (Same duration as Legion's Feral Frenzy). This allows even a SWF to never be sure when the Thing will pop up and attack them.
