Something needs to be done about farming.

The only time DCing is justified is if you are being held hostage in a game that cannot end.

Lucky. My MMR is pretty high, I tend to get very good killers, yet almost a couple farmers every day. Its BHVR's very weird mmr system giving me bipolar matchmaking. Honestly, dont mind pigs doing stuff like that too much either unless theyre sitting in front of a box. Pigs are pretty cute when they do stuff like that, but again its not nearly as consistent as farming so I dont mind much because its funny. Farming is straight up boring. I would get tired of pigs messing around like that if it happened a lot, but it doesnt.

Wrong. Any player can use the feature any time they want. Fun fact, it’s actually an added feature that never existed when the game was released!
0 -
Then it wouldn't be a feature. They would remove it. DCing is actually justified in a lot more situations than you explained.
Just to name a few:
Literally any of the ways people like to ruin a normal dbd match. Boom. Thats like 10 reasons in one right there.
Also, bad teammates (because mmr) in a game you are obviously going to lose. 5 gens. everyone is dead on hook, except you who hasnt been hooked once. No chance you live, no reason to draw out a game thats over.
Cheaters
Not all of these apply to survivors either. Killers can also have reasons to dc as well.
I get way more farmers than I do people who dc. Like, way way more farmers.
0 -
Lets go back to this:
If people can play how they want, then they can hack right? Or be extremely toxic? Be extremely rude in the end game chat? Right?
0 -
Yeah, matchmaking is borked. My MMR has to be really low, yet I don't see many AFK or farming killers.
I get way more farmers than I do people who dc. Like, way way more farmers.
Really? I definitely see disconnects more often than farmers. Even though the DC penalty has drastically lowered the number of disconnects, I still see people ragequit on their first down a few times a week, at least. On the bad nights I'll see a disconnect almost every match.
What region are you?
3 -
Really? As survivor I see almost nobody DC. I dont think i've seen anyone dc in the past couple of days. Killer is a different story, but I understand that because I play ruthlessly sometimes. And, I am on West Coast.
0 -
Really the only time I see people dc as survivor is mainly the killer dcing. Maybe I am getting lucky with teammates? I would imagine getting people who DC frequently is pretty annoying especially if its cause they got downed first or something.
0 -
There are some mod posted that say quite the contrary to this.
1 -
Mmm. So then they can do the same with farming if they see that enough people are annoyed by it (which they are) they just dont use the forums so they dont have a place to voice their frustration.
0 -
And either way, theyre still playing how they want. Which you said there is nothing wrong with, right? I'm just quoting you. And guess what? Most dont get banned for it. They either come back on an alternate account, or they go months without getting banned unless they make it blatantly obvious that theyre cheating, and even then they still go weeks unbanned. :P

That's so weird. For me, survivors disconnecting isn't uncommon, but it's really rare to see a killer disconnect. Which statistically speaking makes sense, since there are 4x as many survivors per match.
I'm not sure if I'm on the east coast or west coast server, but either way I'm surprised our experiences are so dissimilar. With the disconnect thing it may be MMR (low MMR is worse on survivors, high MMR is worse on killers), but I'm surprised you see so many farmers and I don't.
From my personal experience, yeah, you get super lucky with teammates. Solo queue is always hell for me. Like I said, the disconnect problem isn't as bad as it was before the penalties were implemented (dear lord it was so bad back then, the game was nearly unplayable), but it's never completely gone away. Not in my matches, anyway.

Was about to agree first but then i noticed you only talk about farming killers and not about farming survivors.
Once again its only one side and it really shows your bias.
6 -
Survivors only have the option to farm if the killer decides to. They can't make the killer farm, a killer trying to play legit will just kill them. What's my bias? That I don't like farming?
1 -
It's definitely something with bhvr's weird mmr system. I know that the longer you are queued, the broader it's making your mmr search because it's prioritizing putting you in a game over matching you with players at your skill lever. Which adds up with me being queued for a while, leading to a game with farmers. Honestly, I didn't see much people dcing before the penalty unless it was an iri head huntress or something. The only time i've noticed and gotten actually annoyed with disconnections is when they temporarily disable the dc penalty! Then it's literally EVERY GAME!! People cannot handle themselves when it comes off- I almost can't blame them but cmon. Usually when I wanna dc I just let the killer kill me haha
1 -
What if i play Survivor and the killer and the other survivors want to farm?
I dont that.
1 -
Is it usually like that or just a one off? You might have just had some bad luck with people trying to take advantage of double XP. I don't like farming and I rarely actually come across it thankfully. I also don't usually play on weekends because I find matchmaking to be all over the place, but I'm playing this weekend for the XP and my games are weird. Terrible team mates all around.

I would love to see the official quote on that, because the DC penalty is the built in ‘solution’ (if we can call it that) to leavers. Also, if it is ‘justified DC’ (i.e. cheaters), why is the DCing player receiving a penalty?
Never heard of anyone being perma banned for DCing, as there is already the accumulating time penalty in place.

Or...we fix the grind, removing the need to farm like that?
What does join date have to do with anything?
2 -
There is a report option for farming if I remember correctly.

EDIT: for the people that are saying you cant tell people how to play the game, they can play however they want. Go read the description of dead by daylight on steam, google, wherever, you will find that nowhere in the description does it tell you to farm or anything of the sort. Also, if you can play how you want, then why do hackers get banned? They're just playing how they want to play. And I guess that means I can go be as toxic as I want right? No, because being toxic is discouraged. Just like farming should be. You can do it, but why? Why ruin someone elses game?
Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer (4vs1) horror game where one player takes on the role of the savage Killer, and the other four players play as Survivors, trying to escape the Killer and avoid being caught and killed.
🤔 Where does it say I have to kill? Only says survivors need to avoid being killed. If the killer is farming they survive, no?
Are you really using hackers to strawman? When people say, "play how you want" they clearly mean within the confines of the game.
guess that means I can go be as toxic as I want right? No
Yes, you can be as toxic as you want to be or play ultra nice and not kill.
2 -
Farming is bannable in certain situations:
Going by what MandyTalk has said, it really only becomes an issue when the killer forces survivors to farm or punishes survivors for not farming. Then it's reportable under the category of "griefing."
0 -
They don't know. Which is why there shouldn't be a penalty. It's not their fault I guess, but I dont wanna have to sit there and suffer through that for the 2nd time in a row haha
0 -
Okay? Have you not read everything i've been saying. Also I can't even really tell what you're saying lmao " I don't that " ?
0 -
Fixing the grind is a great solution, but take way longer than just reducing the DC penalty which I feel like bhvr is way more likely to do.
And, the more recently someone joined the forum, the more likely it is that theyre newer. Not 100%.
0 -
Nope. People hacking is playing how they want. End of story. You're just trying to make excuses for playing in a very stupid way. If people can play how they want then I guess hacking is acceptable now. Being toxic is encouraged.
0 -
Most of the time when I get annoyed is when the killer forces everyone. If a match turns into that, I dont mind. But I go load in to see a doctor sitting there hitting a gen and shaking his head, its so hard to not DC on the spot.

Farmers
5 -
Anything is allowed as long as you use game rules, you can farm, gen rush, tunnel, camp, flashlight stun, pallet stun, vault, stab, mori, escape with key, as long as it's in the rules of the game, they can do whatever they want
0 -
Also you're only one out of 4 survivors...you can always do gens
0 -
Farming is griefing.
0 -
Or, you can just play the game how it's intended to be played bro. It's not hard and everyone has fun.
0 -
Holding M1 for 80 seconds FIVE times is just as boring as farming.
0 -
Almost right. Farming would explicitly fall under this line in the unsportsmanlike reporting category: “refusing to participate in normal gameplay.”
0 -
the hate on farming I don't get I mean farm game is like breath of fresh air because mostly it sweat on both side not fun but when I get farm game no matter if I play killer or survivor I always get 2 pips and it alway lot of fun I don't understand people.
but someone named P3ToxicLaurie sure they fun is running the game around getting the 4man out t bagging at the exit gates.
2 -
And griefing, too. Holding the game hostage as well.
0 -
You are very lucky to get farmers that much. I get maybe one in few months they are very rare and I would like to meet them more. Well when I play killer I play always few farm games it's nice change for once and not sweat for 3K-4K and easy way to do my rift challenges. Survivors also seem to like it I let them stun me with pallets do flashlight and pallets saves and hook everyone twice in ideal matche some want to be sacrifised but I carry them to exit gate and some still won't leave and die in endgame collapse I usually fail to force them out as collapse is usually nearly end as some just open the exit gates immediatelly. Some won't want to farm thought and just ran away even I show im friendly well I then just AFK and go to next match or sometimes start chase with them and maybe hook them once.
3 -
You clearly didn't read this whole thread-
First of all, I stated a WHILE ago my name was ironic, and not serious. Nothings wrong with getting a 4 man out, especially if we played good. I dont sit around and teabag or do anything of the sort, thats completely unnecessary. You're just making assumptions.
Second, the hate on farming is completely understandable, people want to have a fun experience looping killers and making plays, I like getting outplayed by a killer who made a better play than me. Thats how you get better. Farming is not a breath of fresh air? Playing incorrectly because you dont how people are playing seriously, is a YOU issue, regarding the fact that you dont find the gameplay experience enjoyable, because of "sweat" which is usually just a blanket statement meaning you dont want to try. Which means you should probably quit the game if it affects you that much that you have to play incorrectly and ruin everyone else game.
People are going to run good perks that give them an advantage because they are there to be used. Dont hate the player, hate the game.
You can go an run broken addons on killer, they will give you just as much as an advantage as 4 dead hards. Good players also bait dead hards. So much counters to stuff survivors use. If you dont want to get better, stop playing. Dont farm because you dont want to quit.
0 -
If you were dealing with farmers as much as I have for as long as I have, you would probably most definitely get annoyed by it. I understand you like it, thats okay and im glad you find it fun. But personally, I think the whole idea of being "friendly" is stupid, because your role is supposed to be a brutal killer who prevents survivors from doing their objective, while trying to hook them. Thats your objective. AFKing is also really stupid, and from what it seems you are part of the issue which I am currently addressing. It's not that hard to play the game as it was intended, or dont play at all. You think people would play dbd if everyone farmed? HELL no. It would be a dead game. All I can do is cringe when a killer is standing there trying to farm. If the survivors want to farm, thats fine. But if the survivors obviously dont want to farm, afking is stupid and bannable.
0 -
it a breath of fresh air for me because it don't happen much and as survivor or killer I don't try start a farm game but if it happen I let it
fun fact it hard trust a farming killer or survivor anyway you could up with nothing get f over.
also sorry about the username thing wasn't going to read the whole thread
people are way to sweaty take the game to seriously for a game with to much rng when comes to winning in this game
0 -
You made some good points, and im glad you have fun farming. Personally it just isnt it for me, or my friends I play with.
If people played the game normally, nobody would get screwed over. I feel like people who farm for challenges are forgetting one key thing: Theyre called challenges for a reason. You're supposed to be challenged during the process of getting them, not handed it for free. And most of them are pretty easy, too. And, if you play the game as youre supposed to, you'll get your challenges naturally+ the points from playing the game. Most people who farm for challenges on killer end the game with like 7k bloodpoints but they got their challenge done. If you played correctly, you would get like 20k-32k bloodpoints+ the bloodpoints from the challenge.
It may seem like people are sweating, but its more likely your MMR is just wacked and placing you against better players. Unless people are just demolishing gens; then I could understand the sweating complaint. I almost NEVER actually sweat as survivor, but advanced looping is super casual for me now (and others) because of how long i've been playing that its just become my natural playstyle, and people take it as sweating, when im just playing normally. I hardly actually ever do gens myself, I don't like having all gens completed in 5 mins. It's not fun. I like to have 10-15 minute games where it is going back and forth between survivors having pressure and the killer having pressure.

Literally just hopped on to play my first game of the day. Guess what? It's a ghostface just crouchwalking around the entire map. Ignoring all survivors. Get a life.
How hard is it to play the game right?
0 -
Literally gonna start recording my games, just to make a compilation of how bad of an issue people playing incorrectly is. SO boring.
0 -
Even then, no one told you you need to farm, you can leave whenever you want, there's the exit gate, just needs 5 complete gens
0 -
Yep, and that’s what I do.. snoozing all the way.
0 -
How is farming griefing?
What is stopping you from doing 5 gens and just walking out the door?
5 -
I’m confused you have so many people that complain about having “sweaty” games and want to chill, but complain about having a chill game of a killer just memeing around. What games do people want? And I remember Patrick saying “you can screw around” so I don’t get why farming would be a bannable offense
2 -
Thats not the issue. On top of that being unnecessary, and boring, the issue is how consistently ive been getting people who aren't playing right.
0 -
Get to a higher mmr where killers actually kill people? That would likely solve your problem, fam.
