They are changing the meta perks so people will use other perks so it actually is more fun, due to the pattern of the same exact perks every game it just begins to feel the exact same every game which is not how dbd is advertised (Look at the back of a dbd game case for that one)
Basically it will encourage people to use more than 4 or 5 different perks, while possibly improving perks to become in line with the others

Yeah, I guess some people wanted only to nuke one side.
But it should be obvious that if you nuke the Survivor-Meta, the Killer-Meta cannot stay the same and vice-versa.
So I am excited what will happen. Especially since they mentioned base game-changes, so I guess they will add something which slows down Gens and nuke the Slowdown-Perks or Anti-camping or Anti-Tunneling measures.

It's going to be so ######### funny. I mean think about it. The people who thought original COH, buffed Boil Over were balanced perks are now going to "rebalance" the meta perks. It's going to be a complete shitshow for months on end. I'm grabbing my popcorn.

Eh. I tried ED - it has potential, but is also really janky and gets tedious fast due to a lack of variety. If it lasts, maybe in a year or two it'll be a great competitor.
I'm...oddly curious.
My only concern is losing the BP bonus from BBQ.

This is the best change they've ever announced. Perks should be small advantages. They should not decide the game more than player skill which is currently how it is. A lot of mediocre players are going to be exposed when this change goes through. Anyone who pretends like there aren't a ton of ridiculously OP perks on both sides is delusional. I think people are just mad that they won't be able to go into a game with an insanely OP build to get easy wins.

It’s impossible to buff weak perks enough that they have a real place in the meta without being overpowered and/or abusable. It happened with coh, it happened with boil over, and they both got nerfed twice.
Weak perks should get buffs, but you have to nerf the meta as well or it’s not going to change. This is something that needed to happen a long time ago.

I somewhat like the idea of nuking the meta, but the issue is that some perks are meta because they patch a flaw with game design - see BT preventing camping and tunneling from being a 100% guarantee, or Corrupt preventing the survivors from sitting down to work on 4 separate gens at the start of the game and allowing 3 gens to pop by the end of the first chase, or BBQ fixing the bloodpoints grind (which is at least getting addressed.) While some perks are overpowered at what they do, nerfing certain others without fixing the underlying issues that cause them to be meta isn't going to help anything.

This is not going to have the desired effect they think it will.
There is a reason why these perks are and have been META.
Just more band aid solutions that will end up doing absolutely nothing while the core problems persist.

It will never happen. Killer-mains will have aneurisms and survivors won't have anyone to go against because all the killer-mains are dead.
Can you image the uproar on these boards when 10 completely new survivor perks with the power of Dead Hard, Decisive Strike, Borrowed Time, Circle of Healing, etc etc. suddenly appear for survivors. It won't matter that 10 meta perks were nerfed for survivors, it will only matter than 10 new perks as powerful as the current Meta perks appear. The developers should understand that survivor-players cannot have good perks or Killer-mains will flip out.
The only perks that are allowed for survivors are bad perks.

Edit: Supposedly they are making “small baseline gameplay adjustments” to make up for nerfing these meta perks. I don’t know how small we’re talking, but methinks they will need to be large.

I think they need to focus more on changing the built-in meta if anything. By:
Adding Interactable maps
Better killer map pressure (especially M1 killers).
Adding other survivor mechanics that could be used as resources besides pallets.
Etc. Etc.
I am not saying build an entirely different game, but build upon the one they already have. DbD is about chase so make it more about the chase with "fresh" added features.

The only one I don't agree with is BBQ. Unlike the other perks it isn't op and in 9/10 cases it is used for its ability to earn more bp. It doesn't deserve a nerf

If you’re gonna change decisive strike, keep in mind that it doesn’t need a nerf. It needs a buff since killers like to tunnel for early 3v1.

How to nerf surv meta perks:
Dead hard: No distance gain or really really few you become intangible for 1 sec. Enought to avoid damage if u timed it.
DS: its okay
BT: Survivor who got BT recieved a spring burst and becomes intangible also have the commom endurance effect.
COH: No healing by yourself but ur pathners heals you faster.
Thats my opinion on surv perks

Are you guys aware that the reason DS and BT remain meta has to do with 2 common playstyles in-game? Camping and Tunneling.
I am not sure how you could change those perks without changing the reason why they get brought in constantly.

You cannot really make a better early game delay perk than corrupt unless you just make it last longer.
You cannot make a 'better pop' without getting to the levels of ridiculousness like removing half of a gen's progress
You cannot make an anti tunnel perk that competes with DS without being ridiculous
You cannot make a healing perk that compares with vanilla CoH without it having something absurd like 200% healing speed.
The meta on both sides is too strong. Perk's 'being really trash compared to the meta' is a result of that. If a perk existed that was 'press e to end the trial' you aren't going to make a better perk than that.

The only change they made to dead hard in 5 years was buffing it. So I don't have high hopes for the perk changes

There's a lot of perks in the game that aren't bad, they're just not going to consistently win games for you. Which is probably what perks should've been in the first place.

Ds needs buff if anything. It's probably best antitunnel perk and still it barely help's. When I tunnel as killer it's small delay and I can get the survivor out in less than 3 min in the game. Without ds I only need 2 mins. You can always wait it out too so the timer should be longer. And it does not even help bad players who need it the most because the difficult skill check. Bt is fine now unless they make it basekit I don't think it need changes. I have idea for new antitunnel perk that you can give one hook state for other survivor so that would mean you get instantly second hook if it's your first hook. Corrupt invertion should be basekit for killers to slow down game.

peanut comment is little bit disconnected from community. Most players just want to keep use their powerful perks on either side.
The dev get a chance to "shake-up" the meta on every update but none of the perks end up being effective for winning the game/practically useful. The survivor perks in particular haven't changed in 5-6 years. When they release a perk that is practically useful, it just ends up receiving subsequent negative changes.
The other aspect is the idea that player itself has a choice in their own perks. The choice is a complete illusion. Survivors run perks to not die instantly and their perks slow down the killer objective. The killer's run generator-oriented perks to counter-act the survivor perks that waste the killer's time by making the survivor waste time on their objective. In the end nobody really has any perks because killer perks and survivor perks cancel each other out.
