How long of a ban do players receive for holding the game hostage?
Does anyone know how long of a ban this behaviour normally results in? 5 gens left after a DC and he decided to then slug me out and just before I bled out, forced me up.
He found a corner and dropped me there. I was tabbed out at the time so wasn't moving and so am now trapped, as you can see.
Basically, it's been 20 mins so far of this. Wondering how much longer I should wait this out before DCing to ensure he gets a big juicy ban for holding me hostage?
Maybe even a big enough ban to miss out on the Anniversary events?? That'd teach him a lesson :)

I would very much like to see this BHVR banned.
But its unlikely that it would happen. i would put a ban report in game and out of game
I have been stuck in a game for about an hour once (long time ago)

If you record the game, send a report in post game and a ticket with the footage, then this has already been confirmed multiple times to be 100% bannable.
As for the actual length of the punishment, I suppose they'd make a judgement call, but it's highly unlikely it's gonna be a perma for a 1st offense. However, I wanna hope it isn't a slap on the wrist either.

For reference Griefing (which includes holding the game hostage by bodyblocking someone to prevent the game from ever ending) is punishable by a temporary ban. Typically the first temporary ban is 24 hours, the second is 48 hours, the third is a week, and the fourth is a permanent ban. If you do something really egregious though they can decided to skip a step or two in that process.

This is great info. Thanks!

I am highly skeptical of the ban system. but good to know this BHVR has been banned in the past

If someone is showing signs of hostage holding. It would be better to DC and take the 5min penalty, than to wait 20min and still have to DC anyway

Yes. But this time I decided to record them and now they should receive a temp ban. Should discourage them from doing it again, so you are all welcome! 😀

Good luck, I've had people say they were going to report me only to have nothing happen

I've had great success reporting people, just had a progress cheater perma banned yesterday. Thanks.

I would guess it has an escalation, much like the forums
First ban probably 24 hrs then a month and then permanent or smth like that

That is really good to know. I had a legion literally block 3 people into a house room. We had hidden in there to heal together, he found us and just stood there. I disco'd but I should have thought to film him.

They can receive a temporary ban for doing this.
1st strike is typically 24h with escalating length
Also I hope OP updates if their ticket got a reply

It got "solved" with a generic thank you for the report message. That's all I know. Definitely didn't feel worth going through all the hassle of reporting. Although, it'd be nice to know how many minutes count as "holding the game hostage". That way if it happens again I can wait maybe 10 mins instead of an hour to report them.

All of my tickets are marked as "Solved" sooner or later. If I was you I'd reply to your own ticket because it looks like they missed it somehow.
If the player you reported is on steam by the way, you can check if they have a game ban on their profile. I've reported people telling me to "#########" before and they have been perma banned and although the devs didn't directly tell me this, I saw so by looking at their steam profile.
Unfortunately there is no way to know if a player was temp banned as BHVR don't tell you.
