Eh.. that’s a pretty lengthy undetectable status just for getting a hook. But would be nice to have something other than indefinitely enabling camping just for standing still, like it does now.

Horrible idea. Literally would be used to camp and counter Kindred. Horrendous.

Yeah, it's used for that. And it's a horrendous perk idea. Thankfully it's also a really bad perk and so it's mostly used for throwing in the trash. Now imagine that it's still best to use it in that way, but it's a better perk now that also works for proxy camping. Doesn't sound healthy to me.

Current Insidious requires standing still for a couple seconds though. This would totally bypass Kindred the entire duration.

That's a bad idea and Insidious doesn't need any changes as it works fine as is.

Umm no. A hook state is 60 seconds. Also, what's the big deal with Kindred? You could still see other survivors for example. That is what makes Kindred good lol.

Yeah right. Gotta love a perk that rewards you for doing absolutely nothing.

Wow, didn't know that we're fine with the same 8 meta perks that everyone uses all the time. God forbid we get buffs for awful perks that nobody uses, that would be outrageous.

Sorry for any misunderstanding, I meant the entire Insidious duration.

As I said, you can still see other survivors with Kindred.

Yeah and it only works the first time after getting caught. If you all get hooked by an insidious killer then you really need to improve yourself.

It's not a bad concept, but 30 seconds is too long.

Definitely better than what we have now though.

I've seen one suggestion long ago that could work tbh (without the camping probability).

If you're atleast x meters (32? 24?) from the hook, you gain undetectable status effect as long as a survivor is hooked. This effect persists for 5 seconds after a survivor is rescued.

That is an insanely long undetectable status, it would be devastating on some killers. I don’t mind the triggering condition in this rework idea, but I would only allow up to 10 seconds once out of range to stealthily get away from the hook area.

Maybe an alternate version of Dark Devotion.

Activate it by standing still, once active you become Undetectable but your Terror Radius stays where it is for X/Y/Z seconds after you start moving again.

Gives you Undetectable but discourages camping as it doesn't work if your stay put like you do now

Insidious is one of the worst killer perks in the game. It’s only apparent use is for face camping Bubbas, and even then it’s not really necessary.

It does exactly what it is designed to do and does it quite well. Now what it is designed to do, isn't very interesting. Like this is a perk that done the same exact thing since day one when we used to slap it on mikey and just play hide and stab around corners.

So Insidious works just fine, it's that it isn't the most engaging. It's not Territorial Imperative which doesn't work well at all and even when it does the information it provides is useless. Or Monstrous shrine which does nothing and isn't even a meme perk like Insidious.

Not all these perks gotta be great, sometimes the meme is enough. Especially when it is a generic perk.

I'd hate for the current passive to go, but that's kinda cool

I respectfully disagree that Insidious is a good perk aside from very specific corner cases. I have yet to see any good use for it that isn't done better by any of the other Undetectable or Oblivious granting perks. Quite simply standing still for more than 5-10 seconds is a huge time investment for what is likely going to be only a modest payoff, if any. To put it in context, you can literally cross half a map in 10 seconds to get into a new chase. So unless standing in place for that long is going to result in the equivalent of chasing someone else off a gen it's a bad tactic.

I agree that "not all perks gotta be great". But they ought to be better than Insidious.

Description: “While others chase after their prey, you choose to wait for the perfect time to take them by surprise.”

At the beginning of the match, the killer is rendered Undetectable for 20/25/30 seconds.

When a survivor is unhooked, this perk regains 15 seconds.

The expenditure of this perk is paused while stationary.

Flavor-text: “’Watch your back, man! That monster could be anywhere right now!”

Insidious, at present, is only useful to trolls and basement campers. It isn’t a good perk and is only brought to bear by the most vile and toxic players of them all. We still want to reward people for playing sneaky, but this game is very fast paced and it seldom will reward a killer for a single ambush. However, few killers are considered ‘stealth killers’ that begin the match Undetectable. These killers are known to create an air of paranoia and uncertainty before they are discovered and their whereabouts made known. By making Insidious ‘the Lethal Pursuer of Stealth’ it can turn any killer into a ‘stealth killer’ at the beginning of the game, and yield the ambush benefits thereof. Giving 15 seconds of Undetectable during an unhook also sows seeds of insecurity in survivors, who are generally aware of the perk’s presence given the opening of the match. Not knowing where the killer may be coming from – while also rewarding the killer NOT to return to the hook, but finding a good place to hide for an ambush after the fact, this is the kind of gameplay that will scare survivor players and be dynamic without proving too difficult to handle. The numbers can be tweaked (10/8 seconds undetectable on unhook) to prevent snowballing, however – by incentivizing killers to set up ambushes as survivors begin to move makes it more important not to camp immediately after hooking someone, and greatly incentivizes killer players to venture out and find interesting ways to catch survivors off guard in the early game and the mid game alike.
