DBD Anniversary - the 6.0.0 update and the graphical settings
It's slightly sad and annoying for me to necessarily have to play the game with the graphics at the lowest settings (because of visibility reasons), and have to go into .ini files to change things that should be native to the game (like the FPS cap, the vertical sync and anti-aliasing).
DBD will likely gain a lot of players with the new update. But until then, you (developers) HAVE to do everything I'm going to say now. This is a to-do list.
- Add more options to the "Graphics" tab in the settings menu.
- Add individual options so that we can customize to our liking. Like texture quality, anti-aliasing quality, shadow quality, shader quality and so on. And also provide an option to disable anti-aliasing (and not just turn it to the lowest quality).
- Fix sg.ResolutionQuality and ScreenResolution being different when using the Low and Medium presets [ https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/r6e1lg/if_you_use_low_or_medium_graphic_setting_and_have/ ]. Basically, if someone adjusts the Screen Resolution setting, both values should be changed.
- Add an option to toggle vertical sync (why this isn't a thing yet?).
- Add an option to disable the FPS cap (why this isn't a thing yet?). At least we should be able to choose between 60 and 120 FPS.
- Fix the anti-aliasing. Use another anti-aliasing method rather than TAA, which just blurs the game. This is more noticeable on lower resolutions. More on that here: [ https://www.reddit.com/r/FuckTAA/comments/oi0v86/taa_on_vs_taa_off_comparisons_sharpness_texture/ ]. Try to implement MSAA, because as far as I know, this is one of the best anti-aliasing methods. More on that here: [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDo5TKr6pyc ]. It seems Unreal Engine 5.0 supports MSAA, as said here: https://docs.unrealengine.com/5.0/en-US/forward-shading-renderer-in-unreal-engine/
- One of the saddest things is the fact that, as I mentioned earlier, you have to play the game with the lowest settings for visibility reasons. I would honestly love to play the game on Ultra (I can run it without any problems), but the graphics are very dark and this is a big disadvantage. I really don't like having to play with the game all ugly, but it's the only way to play without having disadvantages.
That's all. Even if you don't do all of them, if you at least do the numbers 4 and 5 that would be an actually good thing. Thanks in advance.

Wait you have better visibility when you play on low quality? Woulnd that mean that they should choose one quality setting and force it on every one so we are all on the same page

there was also a long period of time in which you could see The Red Stain through walls on the lowest quality setting.

Do bushes and other stuff disappear when I play low res like in other games? That would be a Hugh advantage

If you play with the lowest quality graphics settings, some grasses and bushes have smaller tips and sizes.
The resolution you use does not affect this aspect.

This. The options menu being so dog$#!% is a giant turn off. It feels like a console game with 0 graphical options,I swear to god.

You are absolutely right!
