Those events only work if the players play along

i played 3 matches this morning and the maximum of gens we made was 2 because the survivors were searching their masks. The killers all ran absolute tryhard builds and played like that (hard tunneling, camping to second stage etc.). Bringing 5 cakes doesn't do much when you only get 10k BP.

I don't understand why people just can't chill at least a bit during the event. No one wants you to farm, but this amount of not giving a ######### about anyone makes it barely enjoayable. You don't have to 4k every game, you don't have to prove anything to us or to yourself, you can just have fun, chase, get 25k BP and be happy afterwards. When people bring cakes but end the match with 6k BP, they will meet up with their friends next time because "solo is unplayable" and then they gonna play toxic swf. And so, the cycle continues...

When I play killer, I can generally tell when I’m going up against a SWF or some solo’s who look problematic. Now I won’t get it right 100% of the time, but for a lot of my lobbies I judged well. I assume others can as well. Now based on that, whenever I smell trouble I use stronger builds, add ones , and offerings. When I think I’m vs. a chill team, I dial it down. Sometimes way down.

‘So why is it when I’m playing solo survivor, killers who SHOULD be facing the top 1%, still feel the need to bring the SWEATIEST of builds, with their best add-ons, for FOUR SOLOS?? And I know they know, especially when I’m first to load in and the other 3 don’t come in right behind each other. Cmon now. Some of these killers literally could have beat us perkless, but insist on tryharding every single match. You can just tell. Straight Overkill. I’m talking Pinhead with Eng. Fang and every F’n annoying killer perk there is (Plaything, Pain Resonance, PGTW, & Pentimento or Ruin), all on top of his stupid box that needs attention for what feels like every 60 seconds. Jeezus Christ I swear I’d pay to watch a 4 man bully Squad go against some of these tryhard killers.

‘But to add to OP’s point, yea this sucks when we can’t take advantage of the event when we barely get to play that match, getting stomped at 4/5 gens. 😐

Yesterday I played against Killers who had a hard time and ended up around 9k points.

I'm not sure but i think players who are trying their best to get a 4k along with a Mori, they want to get good amount of points at the end.

But most of the players are playing as usual and their builds have nothing to do with the event.

Do it as a killer, it's alot easier. Spam dead dog.

i tunnel people because im sick of my time being wasted at the exit gates. If people started leaving when they can i wouldn't be such a sole.

From the killer side of things, I went in with a 'let's have fun and make sure we all get some BP' mindset. Not farming, mind you - but fun builds, two hooking everyone, trying for long chases etc.

Within 10 games, I gave up on that - it was super sweaty SWF after super sweaty SWF, and by the time I realized that the 0 flan groups just wanted to split up perfectly, pound gens and get out, I was down 3 gens with 0 hooks, ending with 4 hooks total and being teabagged from the exit gates.

I can't play nice, because that means that I now lose out, and get mocked for my trouble. So I have to go hard from the start, get someone out ASAP and then I can maybe consider easing up.

See: I'd be happy for both of us to get some BP. But if you insist on making it a zero sum game, I'm playing to win.

Forgive me if I'm not feeling generous when Survivors would rather die than let me get an invitation.

I always find these events super unpleasant. People are so aggressive.

Any cakes ever put up ... even after events over ... games are super aggressive.

Teammates just leave you on the hook ... more than normal. Killers are super nasty.

The only way I can deal with it sanely is to suicided pretty much every game. Since we're left to die anyway on first hook nearly every game anyway... why bother making an effort? Then I move on to the next game an hope for better people.

It's so nasty and I absolutely refuse to go into the blood web and get any cakes.

It is what it is. So I just handle it this way to try to get at least some enjoyment from the game.

I go out of my way to try and 2 hook everyone and then slug them so they can leave through the gates.

Though with how many flans were used and how I only have 2 or 3 masks I'm starting to get the impression that either noncontributors jump in to grab the invite (of course they do) or there is some special requirement to make it appear because I threw a few games to look for them and couldn't find squat yet hear the jingle of the ghost of invites missed.

Honestly I play mostly killer now but my queue times in the day are long so I’ve been getting more survivor in and it’s been very rough. I’d say in 75% of games someone is being tunnelled out early and most killers are bringing the strongest add ons. I’ve even had two Michael’s with tombstone pieces lol. My games as killer last night where mostly fine, but I don’t dispute that a lot of killers are probably also having rough games against SWF who are desperate to do the gens and get out. But even with the bad games I’ve followed it up with games where I got over 200k BP and isn’t that what the event is meant to be about?

I know all this is anecdotal and will be different for anyone but I feel like this game has cultivated a massive feeling of disdain from either side towards the other and has developed an incredibly sweaty play-style amongst a large portion of players so that when events like this happen too many people can’t enjoy it.

TLDR: why can’t people just relax and have fun.

This is why my policy has become just playing as normal and just being okay with bad outcomes rather than ceding control of the match and expecting every team of survivors I face to fawn over me for it. If the match becomes a clear win, then I'll start considering whether I'm feeling merciful.

Last night I had a couple encounters where a particular survivor stuck out as amusing or impressive and those were the ones I hand-picked to get their invitation & hatch.

It's also worth noting that I unlocked four times more flan in an hour than I was able to spend in stockpiled cakes across the entirety of last weekend. Like, it's really easy for me to accept any match outcome from 4k to 1 hook and just move on to the next right now.

Overall I'm feeling like survivors & killers alike are letting the event warp their expectations of how their opponents should play, and are turning very nasty against people who don't conform to those expectations. It's not a very kind or sporting thing to be doing - drink and be merry! (My beverage of choice is survivors)

No. They can just leave but choose not to (because they want the killer to see them gloat). Imagine if every game killers just made all 4 survivors bleed out on the ground. That's what survivors are doing by sitting at the exit gate for no reason (wasting time instead of ending the game). The killer should not have to go out of their way to force you out especially considering you are at 0 risk of being hooked at that point. And let's be real, if a survivor wants to click and teabag, they will do so regardless of how the killer played.

So because you can't handle waiting a maximum of 2 minutes (4 if you slug/hook), you're going to make it extremely difficult for others to enjoy the event and earn their rewards?

Edit: Also, in this situation you presented, you're in control of whether or not they stay. If they're actually waiting it out, chances are you aren't trying to end the game.

I often stay at the game for a bit - not to make the kilter mad or gloat but in case (especially during an event) they need to find, or do something.

I also like to try to give them extra points like finding and closing the hatch and I'll knock a few pallets close to the exit so they can break a few for some extra points for them.

So how often do you think I have to wait in survs to leave, I’d say it’s over 70% of my games.

and tell me why should I have to force survs out who can leave? Standing at the gate with nothing to achieve just wastes my time. So I’m returning the favour.

Or they could just leave. Or is it only killers who have to behave in a certain way.

That's why I stopped caring and just play "toxic" on both sides. Too many scummy playstyles and players out there and it'll never change no matter how much crusading people want to do on the forums. Screw it, be as toxic as you can and make everyone you encounter miserable. Take advantage of every inch of BS in the game's design that you can find.

Why not just let them hook and kill you then? that gives more points than all of those things you mentioned.

  • MaybeShesCrazy
    MaybeShesCrazy Member Posts: 337

Usually I do that when the teammates have been toxic to the killer. Stay at the gate and let them do things, especially during an event since they might be looking for something,

Often times they get my death naturally as I'm just left to die by teammates so I just naturally die. so-to-speak.

    It is what it is.

I just play normally all the time. Event or not.
