Should Shattered Hope be base kit?
Given now powerful Boons are (Mostly CoH) is it fair that the only way a killer can permanently get rid of them is to bring a perk? Instead of just a regular game mechanic like ‘cleansing’
You could say the same thing about survivors bringing maps and totem perks for the off chance that the killer has a Hex perk, but even then they could use their map/ anti-totem perks for other builds such as ‘Inner Healing’ value or using maps to find Boon spots
Killers don’t have that luxury, if they bring ‘Shattered Hope’ and there are 0 Boons then it’s an entire perk slot wasted
So my question is should ‘Shattered Hope’ become base kit? Or at least a version of it anyway? Even if a killer has to snuff out a Boon twice before it becomes permanently destroyed. Anything’s better than the current system of unlimited Boons

I’d say no. Boons as a whole are pretty weak and 3/4 require killers to be close to even get value in the first place. This would make them way too situational to bother with

If im being honest..... No not really
Unless your going to buff all the other boon perks (not circle of healing) compensate then no

No, not at all.
Boons are designed (for the most part) around being continual slowdown from survivors who want to keep their buffs active, and that's a good enough idea that I think BHVR should be leaning into it instead of giving up on it and nuking boons from orbit like that.

It'd make it too easy to get value from Pentimento.

I think that the secondary effect could be basekit. However; it would be nice to have a mini Shattered Hope in base kit; like snuffing the same boon twice in a certain time frame should break it. That would be a welcome change.

I used to think they should, but not so much anymore. Survivors that do boons are not doing gens which helps out killers in general. Plus COH is the only strong boon normally used so is it really worth being able to destroy a totem for a single boon? Also not destroying totems can actually be advantageous to you. For example, you could remove a boon, down a player, hook them and then that same totem becomes a Plaything hex.

Of course not

Probably not, at least 100% not with that aura reading to it.

With pentimento being in the game and the fact that booning a totem is a time that survivor doesn't work on gen, the answer is probably no.
Personally i think adding a token system to boons would be a good solution to give boons some sort of counterplay as well as risk and reward kinda deal. Snuffing boons out would be worth it since survivor now let's say have only 2 more tokens to boon a totem, while survivors that are smart and set up boon in good location will not loose all tokens super quickly.

If every boon was CoH, yes.
CoH is fundamentally different to the other boon perks and is much more powerful for it. In some situations it gives killers a "damned if you do damned it you don't" scenario, much like endgame DS which is getting nerfed.
Perhaps this should be a drawback baked into CoH specifically?
"If a health state has been recovered by any survivor via Circle of Healing, when the killer snuffs out the totem it gets destroyed."

Considering that the only hex that is actually powerful any more is Devour Hope, and that requires you to use a SECOND perk slot on Undying so it doesn't vanish in the first 30 seconds of the game:
Yes. Snuffing boons should be default. If you want, go ahead and buff boon auras back up to 32m, like it was when they first released.
Team-wide powers that you only need one survivor to bring is not okay on an endless supply. And shrinking the already too-small killer perk options is the worst possible solution they could've come up with

Any killer using pentimento would be using something that creates hexes to be cleansed, like play thing. Being able to snuff totems as base kit wouldn't buff pentimento because if a survivor has made a boon, then they know where the pentimento hex will be.

IMO what they should do:
- nerf circle of healing again, make it so spam blessing COH isnt as good as it is right now. all other boons do not have this problem since their value is not as insane as COH/is situational
- buff shattered hope; give survivors exposed inside the boon radius for 30 seconds. make it worth something. 8 seconds of aura reading for 1 perk slot that you MIGHT use 0-5 times is horrible. bitter murmur is just a better perk since it guarentees aura reading 5 times
boons are not the problem, COH is. also shattered hope even against boons is kinda worthless
