New Universal Killer Mechanic: Dark Dash
New Mechanic: Dark Dash
- While moving in any direction, press the Shift Button to activate Dark Dash.
- The Killer will suddenly move at a supernatural speed, moving at 20m/s for a total of 0.25 seconds.
- The Killer will also leave a trail of dark ash and an afterimage where they once were.
- Dark Dash has a cooldown of 15 seconds when used.
Additional Mechanic Notes
- Dark Dash's total distance is 5 meters.
- Dark Dash is an omnidirectional ability, meaning it can be used while moving backwards.
- Dark Dash cannot be used to move through walls or pallets unless a perk dictates so.
- Dark Dash can be cancelled into a basic attack, lunge attack or special attack.
- Dark Dash grants Killers that can use it the ability to freely roam while doing so.
- Dark Dash can be used while holding any Special Attack that can be charged and that you can freely move with, such as Vile Purge, The Redeemer, Showstopper or Tentacle Strike.
The Reason Behind the Mechanic
- This ability is meant to further lessen the gap between Killers by providing most of them with a mechanic that lets them be on par with the top several Killers in the game.
- As such, Killers such as The Nurse, The Blight and The Spirit will be unable to use this ability.
- The ability is also an ability that grants Killers who have less chase potential the ability to actively compete with those that do have better potential.
- The ability is also meant to replace the Bloodlust mechanic, since it is a proper chase ability that is mostly universal to all Killers and it grants them the ability to get a down on a Survivor faster.
- The ability would also provide a new avenue of fun, masterful and interesting plays that would make Killers seem a lot more fun and appealing to play as.
It can't hurt to try it.

you know what? this sounds like a idea that should be tryed atleast. it could work really well when bhvr takes the time to test it and how all the diffrent killer abilitys work with it.

I don't think they could do that, they probably shouldn't. Now a new killer having an ability like that, hopefully it functions a little different from nurse's, then that would be cool.

Ironically, the lunge attack is a Dead Hard.
So this would be Dead Hard 3.

Bloodlust is part of the game as a bandaid to fix RNG nonsense. Perfect example : last night I was playing against a dredge on Azarov's and in the "middle" there was a double L/T wall separated by another vault window in the middle. I ran that loop against the dredge forcing bloodlust three on both hits.
That run would have been over in ~30 seconds with Bambooble but instead my friends finished a gen.
Bloodlust needs to stay in the game until there is some kind of vault/pallet spacing or weighting mechanic where the game does not allow multiple pallets into vaults into more pallets/vaults.

I mean, Killers already have one that lasts about 0.5 seconds with a cooldown of 1.5 seconds. And it damages Survivors, too.
This is basically more like a significantly quicker-acting Lunge Attack, if anything. Quicker burst mobility option and with the added effect of still allowing for a lunge attack.

i am not sure if this is the direction we need to go into, especially after this killer sided update.
Also just because some killers are stronger than others is no reason to give everyone a demogorgon shred attack. Maybe just... nerf the strongest killers and buff the weakest ones?
Also there is absolutely nothing wrong with some killers being stronger than others. It is literally impossible to make every killer the same strength.

All you have to do is look at how terrible Coup de Gras is to see why your suggestion is nothing.

On a total tangent I wish Coup de Grace was just "Increase your lunge distance by +x%" with no restrictions or tokens or whatever. I'd gladly use that perk even with a smaller increase than it currently has if it was just something that was on all the time.

Nobody would've used Coup de Gras as it was originally, much less after it got nerfed. The whole design of "you have limited charges, you have no control over when you can get more charges, and you have extremely minor control over how you even use charges because any lunge of any sort burns one instead of just hitting a button like Dead Hard."
So dumb.
