adult filter on chat makes no sense...
Well in my native dialect we say "Ge kunt" wich means "you can" at some point i do understand that the chat filter works as the english word is a whole different meaning.
But i just had a killer who facecamped me in the beginning and let me bleed out in the endgame. I wanted to say in endgame chat "Atleast we have youtube while playing waiting simulator" im really curious why the "We have youtube" is blurred out and in the chat filter?

You can't even type Yun gin in port game lobby,, madness

Any "[character] main" is censored
"Hope" is sometimes censored, even though 1- it's not offensive and 2- it's a PERK name
Sometimes you'll be trying to say a word and get ###-ed, whereas another player will write it without problem right after
It's completely chaotic

The Chat filter existing actually makes a lot of sense and I'm glad it was added. Some words just shouldn't ever be used.
The implementation of the filter is... Horrific, if I'm honest. It's incredibly draconic and blurs the most harmless of phrases while somehow still letting curse words through on occasion.

Quentin was censured the other day.

It's literally a lotery. Sometimes you can't even write "gg"

Getting blanked out while saying pretty mundane things is half the reason I don't try to communicate more often.

The chat filter is perhaps the greatest example of BHVR.
Excellent idea, good intentions but absolutely horrific execution.

Don’t forget the absolute insistence on keeping it the way it is for far too long.

I've seen several instances where people can't say Gg but others can. Really makes me scratch my head sometimes.

I don’t know why BHVR doesn’t just give us an option to enable/disable it so people who want to read less toxic stuff just keep it disabled.

I can say "What the hell" but I'll never know what this person wanted to tell me haha.

At least you all have a chat box. Console players like myself don't get one.

I can agree that having a filter in general is a good thing, but where it gets problematic IMO is when said filter is mandatory.
They should do the same Valve did with Team Fortress 2 when they added a profanity filter to it, and that is allowing every individual to manually turn it off in the options (I'm bringing that one up because TF2's chat filter is actually younger than DbD's, yet had this as a day 1 feature).
It's such an easy way to make everyone happy - people that support the filter can keep it, whereas people like me, who view it as unnecessary and annoying, can just turn it off and be done with it.

you can't say rancor, i really don't understand how you can even mess with the censoring

The prime hypocrisy of all this is that in game for mature audience, where people mutilated, sawed in half, eaten, dismembered and beaten to death, we afraid that someone OMG could see a bad word 😂

Idk some words ie slurs just shouldn't ever be said and if you're upset at those specific words being disallowed (again I am referring exclusively to slurs here) then I think it's time to look in a mirror.

The censor works pretty much at random. Sometimes words are censored and sometimes the same word is not. Here's some bizarre ones that I've had.
"ggswp" is ##### but "ggs wp" is fine
"ranch" is ##### but "18 naked cowboys" is fine
"I" is #. Yes, the letter i was censored once.
My username is sometimes censored, sometimes not.

I'm upset that, as always, censorship punish more decent normal people than malefactors. I live in a country with severe censorship and I see from first row how ruinous and disasterous it can be.
You can censor words, but you can't remove them from people minds.
I don't fret if I see something I don't like, I know these kids 100% wouldn't say anything such in my face. It's a cost of Internet's impunity. But better live in a free world and don't have "###########" when you wrote several lines discussing match with nice people, rather than bend to perpetrators. Because:
a) there is report button
b) there are tons of way to circumvent censor mechanism and say many nasty things anyway
Only decent people suffer.

2017 end-game chat was a bloodbath and a filter is needed.

Try using spanish words, you wont get a single sentence without censorship

The language filter was only put in place to push people to crossplay and make it so BHVR didn't have to police the racist and homophobic portion of the community. Like the guy above ^.

Hence why I specifically said slurs only. Decent, normal people aren't saying those words. That's kinds in the definition of "decent" and "normal"

I mean, the chat filter is kind of necessary because some people can't just be nice and can say very nasty things out of anger/hatred. But the way it was implemented wasn't very good and it needs a lot of adjustments.

i think that ######## and should be disabled because ######## ####### #######.
hope to be clear about it XD

I could not type "langweilig" in chat. That's german for "boring". I tried it in different ways, but it was always censored. I don't even know what bad word it is similar to. I also could not write "german", but somehow the salty teammate's "russian" was fine. Seems like this chat filter also thinks that being german is something bad, which is funny.

The funniest part is that this is a game where the idea is to murder people. Devs have absolutely no clue.
