How is Spirit an S Tier Killer?
Comments

If she is still S tier and i dunno if she is thats only because of mother daughter ring and how fast it makes her.
Well im talking out of my arse, i dont know much about spirit other than surface knowledge.

I think it is more understandable on people with hearing issues. I am still trying to convince the devs to bring back Father’s Glasses and just completely rework Dried Cherry Blossom.

He said Pinhead is A teir
0 -
Then you never played Spirit in 2018.
0 -
I think being an S tier killer does not depend on the player. It is what the kit gives you, not what the player makes of it
0 -
It's an intended feature. All it does is prevent from spamming her power. It isn't that much of a hinderance otherwise.
0 -
Iron will nerf especially makes her a solid S tier killer.
0 -
She is definitely no long S tier killer. It is not that hard to realize how rare to encounter Spirit compared to Nurse and Blight. Her limit is very significant compared to those. Good Spirit equals MDR with Cherry Blossom (or Amulet) these days.

Not true look at nurse the best Killer in game. If you throw someone who's never played nurse before into a match they are most likely going to do bad. If you do the same with someone who is decent on nurse the results are completely different.
0 -
who are your top 5?
0 -
now that iron will is out of the picture she's out of control with almost no counter play gannman will agree she's a monster
0 -
I see her a lot now that they destroyed Iron Will. I think she's making a comeback.

Slightly off topic but... does anyone know if the below is a bug or intended?
I can never hear her directional phase until (it seems) a second(ish) after she's already phasing - meaning at short loops it's basically a big guess because by the time I hear where she's coming from, there's no time to react anymore.
I swear when her directional phase was first introduced I could instantly hear it as soon as she started phasing.

- Nurse
- Blight
- Artist
- Oni
- Spirit

It is there just the terror radius music kinda makes it hard to hear a little.

You made an assumption. I did play plenty of Spirit before her nerf and I have tried non-MDR/Cherry Blossom Spirit. The difference in my results was shocking, like going from 3ks to 1ks or no kills at all. My friend, who's clearly experienced with Spirit since she's all he wants to talk about when we talk about killer, has been livid over the nerf and how people have been saying, "Now Spirit is fair." No, she was fair before, because you had to actually mind game each other, the Spirit with her pathing, and the survivors with their sound.
There was SO MUCH survivors could do with sound that they didn't do: Pre-drop pallets from the wrong side, fast vault pallets/windows from the wrong side, slow vault, crouch to sound further away, double back, fake out the double back, use Iron Will, Quick & Quiet, Diversion, etc. But they just think, "Killer fast and invisible, therefore OP", the very same mindset that got Wraith nerfed!
More than anything, nobody has been able to answer my friend's question: "How is Spirit supposed to be played?" If you use you ability for distance or to catch someone, you're out of your ability and are 110% for like 15 seconds. That is so bad. And if you use your power in short bursts which is supposedly the uncountable strat, you still have to deal with the slow start-up animation and you'll still probably run out of power, all while needing to consistently track survivors to their exact position.
You can't always rely on grass/corn moving to show you where the survivors are either, even though you have to because survivors have almost no sound AND can hear exactly where you are, because there are plenty of maps with no grass or anything. The fact that survivors can hear how close you are means that they have more info on you than you have on them, plain and simple.
Sorry if I insulted you, but it's like me saying that Doctor or Pig are secretly S tier, and that I know the hidden potential they have that nobody else knows, so everyone else is crazy and not me. Even when in the face of undeniable proof that a killer was overnerfed, or that they were fine before, this community's survivors AND killers tend to have this survivor-centric view and this overly optimistic view towards killers, which makes them always promote or excuse the nerfing of killers. So forgive me for getting a little heated that fellow killers, who I know that they know how hard it is, just sit there and accept it like bumps on a log.

Excellent add-ons aka things that should be base. The add-ons that give a downside for an upside are a big telltale as usual. Don't want to use the charge up speed add-on? Deal with slow start-up animation the whole game. Want to use a stronger add-on that makes the killer viable? Lose the ability to see scratch marks the whole game. It's ridiculous.
0 -
In what way? She just goes straight to where the survivor is like Nurse does? No, she loses vision, has delayed scratch marks, can't see blood, and can barely hear survivors. Her speed only goes to make up for the fact that she'll be following dead-end trails all the time.

It's the same thing as when you and others put Freddy on the podium, say he's fine, say he was S tier before his nerf, and say that his original version was the best. I'm beyond words at this point. Where do y'all see the game breaking-ness of these killers, man?

Along the directional audio cue, the long recharge time, as well as the requirement to have a fully charged power bar before phasing. It happens really frequently that the survivor is so close.. I'd need less than ~20% of my power bar to catch up to him or her, but I can't.. I have to wait additional ten seconds (in case the power bar isn't fully depleted) and lose a distance.. And that's just one survivor, there are four.
When it comes to the directional audio cue, if there are no walls between you and the survivor, it becomes too easy to predict just where Rin is even though you can't see her. If there are walls, however, it's possible to trick the survivor into thinking that you're phasing to him or her, whereas you're on the other side of the building - That's quite crucial around buildings like the killer shack, main buildings in MacMillan Estate maps, etcetera.
Besides those three thnigs.. There's nothing else that I'd have to mention. The fact that she's even more add-on dependable doesn't really change her, does it? If so, you can add this one to the list of reasons aswell, but I wouldn't wanna jump into conclusions that fast, even though I could do that fairly easily - I mean, I've been playing with her and still am for years, ever since she got released..
Yeah, yeah.. You can try picking up perks like Lightweight or Off The Record to make it a nightmare for her.
Thing is, the overwhelming majority of survivors at low to mid MMR do refuse to play against her, because they can't see her. To them, this means that there's no counterplay. They're still stuck back in the old days when and where Rin and Sally have dominated the entire game.. But, those days are long gone.
Also STBFL isn't such a huge threat, unless the killer has six Tokens. You're obviously overreacting, which you have been doing for months when it comes to killer related threads.. I just don't get it.
How about you present a detailed review about her as to why you do believe that she's S tier?

If you have good headphones none of that matters, and scratch marks still act the same. Blood tracking does not matter since you can hear them anyway if they r injured. She is the 3rd best comp killer in the game for a reason, not to mention some of her addons being busted to.
0 -
Good headphones don't make you the best player. I'd argue that you don't even need them, if you can predict what the survivor's gonna do.. But that's debatable.
She may be in the top three, but that's only because she's the least realm and map dependable outta all of the killers in-game.. Well, minus Eyrie of Crows, of course.
0 -
Regardless she is still the top 3 with one of the best 1v1 powers in the entire game. Also yh good headphones don't make up for game sense and macro gameplay, you need both to really get value from her.
0 -
Right, but that still doesn't make her S tier, even if she were to use the best add-ons available. There's currently only one S tier available in the game - Sally, known as the nurse.
Blight, Hillbilly, Spirit.. All of them are B or A tiers, but they can't make it to S tiers even with their best add-ons. They just can't, because they're either too map dependable (Blight requires obstacles, he ain't gonna perform well in maps like Rotten Fields, Lampkin Lane, etcetera, and Billy is the exact opposite, but with a cooldown to his power in case you do overheat your chainsaw or bump into an object or two.
Would it be possible for you to explain, why do you believe that Spirit makes it to S tier? I have provided my thoughts, the reasons why I'm against the fact that she can make it to S tier.

Trying out killer again after more than 1 year of survivor only I do want to try out Spirit again, although I can't use headphones because of my bad tinnitus, which is a big minus sadly. But may I ask what your current build is? Too keep it on topic..your build that would make her S or A-Tier? 😀

Think of it that way:
You are in a school, and you wish to learn geography. You can talk to every single student if you want to, and they will have their own points to discuss, but the best approach is to talk to a geography teacher, because they are the ones who studied and dedicated themselves to the subject.
Me and Gann went far past the average killer player's process of learning how to play a certain character, and the same can be said about other Forum members and their mains (such as Karu and PH, for example).
To completely disregard the opinion of someone as dedicated as we are and call them "not real" is straight up disrespectful.

Again, then it is a B tier player, not a B tier killer. Or would you call a High Precision Oszilloscope or Bosch tools (or what ever top brand you know) bad if they are used by the wrong person?

- Amazing chasing power.
- Good mobility.
- Can put survivors under pressure pretty well.
- Great basekit.
- Great Add-Ons.
- Great perk synergy.
- Favored mindgames.

I love switching up my build a lot but lately I’ve been running Pentimento, Plaything, Shattered Hope, Call of Brine, Wakizashi Saya, Mother’s Glasses. I’ve really been wanting to get those 5 Pentimento stacks lately and I did actually get it recently. It’s fun and is a fairly strong build.

Spirit still has one of the best 1v1s in the entire game being able to get downs at most loops very quick, no other killer below her really compares to this 1v1 potential, plus mother daughter ring and cherry blossom are insane addons. The iron will nerf means an injured survivor cant really do anything to mind game super easily. To add to this ask any top comp player and they will tell you Spirit is the 3rd best comp killer.
Also blight is S tier because his map pressure is uncontested, no other killer can put out the kind of map pressure that he can and blighted crow + alch ring is insane and he is again another comp killer 2nd only to Nurse.

Account for the 1.5s charge time where she stands still. Here, let's do the math and hope I do it correctly:
Her 1.5s charge time + 5 second power duration is 6.5 seconds total. Let's see how many meters Spirit moves in 6.5s when regularly walking, vs. charging and Phasing
Phasing: 0m/s for 1.5 seconds + 7.04m/s for 5 seconds = 35.2 meters.
Regular Walking: 4.4m/s for 6.5s = 28.6 meters.
Simply put: In 6.5s, Spirit can cover 35.2 meters by using her power.
and, in 6.5s, Spirit can cover 28.6 meters by regularly walking.
Conclusion: Spirit travels 6.6 more meters while using her power. That saves Spirit 1.5 seconds of travel time, and incurs a 15-second cooldown on her power. Considering that cooldown, that is some pretty terrible mobility.

Wait What? Spirit can sneak up to players? I mean, technically you could if the survivor doesn't play with sound :)
1 -
Her 1 Vs. 1 isn't as strong as Bubba's 1 Vs. 1. Grab Bamboozle, Enduring, and you can pretty much win a chase if your prey gets to the killer shack with little to no effort. She downs fast only if survivors don't use headphones, are inexperienced, or you're using the best add-ons.
I am glad, you've mentioned those add-ons. Mother-Daughter has always been the #1st Top add-on of her, and as for Dried Cherry Blossom.. Just.. Ughhh.. This add-on is so disgusting! The player has to put zero skill into gameplay, as the game basically spots survivors in close range.
Just because she can finish one chase fast enough doesn't make her S tier. The cooldown is horrible.. One full usage of her power, and three generators are at ~25% each. That does no longer fit the S tier.
As for Blight, Hillbilly's mobility is unmatched; You're wrong. Hillbilly's mobility has always been the top one, unless we're taking in mind teleports, but that would no longer count as mobility, right? Regardless, he's too map dependable to be S tier..

Faster move speed + a 12 meter terror radius is not much different to Michael at tier 2.

What's your point?
0 -
She is S only with mother daughter ring,, otherwise her directional sound gives you decent time to react and position,, you can argue than in weak tiles/pallets that's not true and you would be correct but then again you'd still be dead even if she didn't phase there,, just survivors being mad over iron will nerf,, a perk that cucked spirit for free twice as much as it did with other killers

I think you miss the point with mobility on Spirit. It’s not mainly about “getting around the map super quickly” (which is why bigger maps can still be annoying) it’s bamboozling the survivors with the mobility and invisibility, even if you aren’t in an active chase with one. I’ve gotten many free hits and even some grabs just because I’m moving fast in the moment and I’m invisible initially, because the survivors probably weren’t expecting my arrival.
Although I do think they can buff her cooldown a little but managing your power gauge is a bit part in learning her.
0 -
I hardly ever see her :(

W Take

at that point it's just lethality from close-range invisibility and speed, which is her main strength anyway.
"mobility" typically refers to the ability of a killer to cut down travel time throughout the course of the match. naturally that's what i'm going to assume what ya mean my friend.

Well fair point.

Wait I just realized my comment was an unintended pun 😭
0 -
She addon reliant killer like wraith, too much skill for little reward, her power needs buff. Basekit spirit is awful to play as.
0 -
Because she is beautiful and is a queen.
Jokes aside she has awesome mind gaming potential and with the Iron Will nerf she is even better, and she has some of the most powerful add-ons in the game. Which is why she is S tier.
3 -
Literally your name and your comment are two of the most factual things that have ever been said on the forums. I love you for loving queen Rin 🥰
2 -
Another Spirit lover, that puts a smile on my face. There are so reasons why Spirit is the best girl in mankind. Can't change my mind.
2 -
It is so true. She’s absolutely beautiful 🥰

It's sad that artist is better than oni. I think oni should start with his power which would make him viable at higher mmr. I would like spirit to be 115% it's not good to be 110% while you wait to get your power back. Blight is 115% too so I don't see problem.
0 -
Because Oni can instadown where Blight can not.
