My Least Favorite thing about Solo Q
Video by Killa Whale
he makes a lot of good points here. I wish the gen mechanics could be a lot more interactive then an occasional skillcheck.

I can understand when people dislike gens as the only objective for survivors. I think many people would be happy if survivors had a second objective. But I personally, and I think many people, would disagree with the severity of the problem.
Scott Jund made a video on why he actually enjoys being tunneled, because it means he is being chased all game and doesn't have to do gens which he finds boring. And that can be understandable. However most responses to that in the comment section always had the same point. It's a good mixture of both that most people find so enjoyable. Working on gens is the more chill and relaxing part. Just like doing other objectives such as healing or cleansing totems.
I also think you can not reduce these objectives, especially healing or cleansing totems, to just the holding M1 actions you do. When sitting on a gen for example, you are also hitting skill checks, and more importantly, are always keeping an eye out for killer to react when you need to. With totems, you also first have to find them before cleansing them. And you do that all while trying to evade the killer.
So personally, I very much enjoy survivors depsite gens and other actions forcing me to just hold a button. As long as there is enough variety going on. If I just do gens the entire game, of course that match was just a bit boring. But in general, I don't think it's that much of a big deal. I for one, and seemingly a lot of people, have a bigger problem with camping, tunneling, and Nurse.

I am the same as him, I quite literally will not play solo queue survivor. At least with friends I can talk while losing brain cells.

Pretty valid video. Makes me think that regression perks or ones that make gens hard to do are some of the worst games I've played on dbd. Skillcheck doctors are right up there with nurse sweats for me.

Doing gens is enjoyable to me because I'm not just sitting there holding a button. I'm sitting there looking around to see if the killer is coming and to see where I can run to if he does come. There's this constant suspense for me.
And it's a nice break from being chased because that makes my heart race every time and I need some time to calm down again.

here is the thing with Solo Q. SWF is the thing the game is balanced around. They perform much better because of the unfair advantages through coms, and unless they completely remove the swf option from online games (they could keep it in custom games) the game will always be balanced around them. Simple. I kind of find it ridiculous because the mindgame is a big part of the game and swf communication pretty much denies that, feels like cheating, it will never change, unless they restrict that to custom games. Until then Solo Q will have to deal with unfair balance, because simply buffing Solo in some way compared to SWF is not going to happen

Same. It is hide and seek after all and I really enjoy the situation at a gen, when you are in an exposed position, constantly checking onspine chill (when you run it), looking around and then a skillcheck comes out of nowhere. Rises the tention.

I agree, there is more to it. Also looking for clues like what perks are the killer using, add-ons, perks of survivor teammates etc.
But I can't argue that playing survivor is a lot of M1 and having friends to play with is 100000000000 times better than solo :)
