The Dredge: A Deadly and Delightful Demon Diligently Dishing out Death
Hello, it's me again, i like Dredge, i think he's fun, here's why
The Dredge is a 115% Killer that can travel to lockers using Reign of Darkness, holding down m2 will charge the teleport, darkening the screen and displaying all lockers on the map with a white aura while also leaving behind a Remnant, letting go of M2 will cancel the teleport outright, pressing m1 will teleport you to a locker you are facing, which will be highlighted in red, and pressing CTRL will teleport you back to the Remnant, it should be noted that when you teleport to the Remnant, you will face the direction you were facing when you began charging the teleport, and survivors can stop you from teleporting by simply touching the Remnant, you also move slower then Nurse while charging
Next there is Nightfall, as you injure survivors, a meter will start filling up on each of the survivor icons, once the metres are filled, Nightfall begins, the map will darken, they'll be highlighted in a white aura, you'll have no terror radius, you'll teleport to lockers a lot faster, you'll recharge your power faster, AND you'll see survivors that are near lockers with Killer Instinct
Finally, there are locks, Survivors can lock each locker on the map, making you take longer to exit them, you can break locks by simply m1ing them, and they stay destroyed permanently
Dredge's power is nothing short of fun to use, between zipping around the map, outplaying greedy survivors with a cheeky Remnant teleport hit, or just the sheer joy of scaring the ever-living daylights out of survivors with Nightfall teleports, there is rarely any time where i don't have fun using Dredge...BUT, he's map dependant beyond all reason, Lockers still spawn the same as they do for every other killer, meaning that on some maps, there are massive areas where your power is quite literally useless, Ormond and the Swamp being probably the worst offenders
However, on the flip side, Indoor maps are your friend, Lerys especially, to quote one of the survivors i played against while gathering my thoughts on Dredge, "That match was the first time this game made me scream out lol", and they weren't kidding, plenty of lockers, and Nightfall genuinely being threatening makes Lerys easily Dredge's best map in my opinion
Nightfall has a few problems, mainly how well it works on certain maps, as i said, on Indoor maps it is hilariously effective, but on maps like Coldwind...well, it's not as good, still helpful, but the fact that Coldwind is permanently bathed in the glow of a sunset makes it a lot less effective, and one consistent problem, the wailing, i made a post about this when Dredge first came out (and got subsequently laughed at for it because apparently not wanting to hear the sounds of distressed and probably dying people and infants every 5 minutes when so much as the slightest noise is enough to cause me to turn is cause for passive aggressive "just get over it lol" comments) but the wailing is LOUD AS HELL, I've grown mostly used to it by now but it can be a bit of a nightmare trying to tell the difference between survivors breathing and the wailing, especially nearing the end of Nightfall where the wails go from mild to obnoxiously loud, atmospherically it's fantastic, gameplay-wise though it has problems
Finally, there are his addons, they're alright, nothing particularly interesting or game-changing like Trickster's addons, my personal favourites are the Worry Stone, which reveals survivors' auras when they lock lockers, Haddie's Calendar, which decreases the time it takes to exit locked lockers by 1 second, Broken Doll, which makes Nightfall last longer, and Lavalier Microphone, which shows survivors auras across the map when using your final teleport charge, and all lockers near survivors auto open their doors, not very useful, but certainly funny
In my personal opinion, Dredge is top 3 in terms of how fun he is to play, he's versatile and can do just about everything, only thing he's missing is inherent slowdown (which he certainly does not need), he is, however, a little map dependant, sometimes you get Lerys and sometimes you get Ormond and just immediately lose, it is what it is
Here's what i would do to buff him
- Increase the number of lockers that spawn around the map when Dredge is the killer, there shouldn't be massive dead zones where your power is almost entirely useless
- Make Haddie's Calander basekit when in Nightfall
- Decrease the volume of the Nightfall Wailing, personal discomfort aside, it is super distracting and makes finding healthy survivors much harder
This is the build that i use, Lethal and BBQ together are really fun, so is Surge and Surveillance
g'night

Couldn't agree more. I just recently decided to start playing him now that I have him on pc, sadly my mmr is too low because no cross progression but boy is he a blast to play.
Really, he is so terribly map dependent. Certain maps he has a lot harder of a time applying pressure, shoot I'd say even his own map is kinda rough. If they can retouch those maps with empty areas, or possibly add more lockers in dead areas when it's the dredge, like 5 more added similar to Pig boxes; even if they spawned in those spots.
Haddies Calendar tho- this is for sure feeling like a Oni's knot type of addon. Very strong, almost feels needed since it cuts the time in HALF.
If not the full addon basekit during nightfall, then maybe 50% of it basekit period and change the addon from -1 second to -.5 seconds.
Also wanna add I can't get enough of Make your Choice on him.

One of BHVR's best original killers ever, no joke
Playing Dredge is a blast and facing a Dredge is one of my favourite things too. His power is strong but not extremely oppressive normally (He has nightfall for that jump in power) and the remnant is a unique form of anti-loop that isn't just lazy caveman "unga bunga survivor animation lock punish"
Amazing chase music
Unique sound design that changes depending on the skin the killer is using (Yeah they went the extra mile for this)
Also random fact, did you know Dredge is now the 2nd killer that has a unique animation when he's in a chase? (The first one was Ghostface!)

Hmmmm, D6D.

Dredge is unironically a new standard for BHVR's Killer Design
Hopefully any killers they release after Wesker will continue in Dredge's non-existent footsteps
