a blast mine nerf... really? A perk that does literally nothing

It will reset the perk to 0 if the mine times out on gen, from what i read
0 -
Yes they did, GillyBean :(

Blast Mine takes ages to charge, thus it was perfectly fine that you kept it after it timed out, if you didn't get it, you still had a chance somewhere else, but now it still takes ages to charge, but you no longer keep it and you need to charge it again. What a joke.
10 -
That nerf was unnecessary and you just ruined a fun perk that no one is going to use now.
please come to your senses and revert that stupid change.
5 -
Is it confirmed it's a nerf? I thought it was a bug. The idea that it was intentional is horrifying.
Bug or nerf, it's definitely a dead perk while it's in this state.
Edit: Damn, it's in the patch notes. What on earth were they thinking? Who thought Blast Mine was overpowered? This just makes the perk unusable. It's far too unreliable and you can't predict the killer's behavior - not to mention, 66% of a gen for a single charge that's unlikely to do anything is an insane cost.
Would seriously like to hear why they thought this was necessary.

As the days go I am convinced the devs want survivors main to be miserable
4 -
Why though? I mean did one of the devs kick a blast mined gen or something and wanted to just murder this poor perk? I don't get it. Blast mine was literally fine.
4 -
I don’t care that much about Blast Mine personally but I am curious why the last second change on it from the PTB. I wonder if there was an exploit or something breaking because of how it worked? 🤷♂️

Such a sad change. Guess they want wiretap to take it's place.
0 -
Yes, because of one perk nerf, as stupid as the nerf is. Why do people exaggerate so much on these forums lmao?
0 -
Revert it. Blast Mine is literally one of the perks I see the least that I think are the funniest when I play killer. And those survivors earned their blast mine, they shouldn't have to start it all over again.
10 -
And remember guys, for ages you could not use Blast Mine and Repressed Alliance together. I highly doubt they fixed that too.
Survivors are not allowed to have fun in this game anymore
4 -
I have never read a single complaint about Blast Mine.
9 -
Blast Mine is completely unusable in this state. You can't predict what the killer is going to do or if they're even prone to kicking gens, and 60 seconds on a gen is an insane requirement for a charge that's unlikely to do anything.
Who thought Blast Mine was overpowered, and can I speak with them?
11 -
Their crazy for making this change. Blast Mine was fine how it was, now it will take ages to activate, and you will most likely get LESS VALUE now. I swear it's like their opinions matter the most and that they don't care about how we feel, they didn't even tell us it was getting nerfed during the PTB they just straight up surprised us with it. One of the devs probably got ruined by Blast Mine and got it changed this patch, I 100% guarantee.

What the #########?????
5 -
It is true, all fun perks are getting destroyed. Head On might be next
5 -
Pointless change nobody asked for.
5 -
Just wow.. i didn't use it often, likely never at all now. Way to shake up the non-meta ha
4 -
I think this is due to the release of the Ada perk on auras. Abuse was afraid. I think since such a nerf they need to reduce the activation numbers to 40%
1 -
Well that came out of no where! Just when we thought the devs were doing great things. It appears that some Behaviour's don't change.
2 -
My conspiracy theory is that this is a bug from the PTB they couldn't fix, most likely due to shared code with Wiretap, and so they just made it a feature.
Because it wasn't announced as a perk change within the PTB, but it was present, and there's no rationale behind this change at all.
5 -
I think the change itself was fine, but they really should have reduced the charge up time to at least 50% to be in line with Flashbang.
0 -
No, Ada's perk doesnt change anything on Blast Mine
0 -
50% is still way too high for how unreliable Blast Mine is and how short it lasts. With this change, 20% would be fairer.
I use(d) Blast Mine a fair bit and I can't understate how unlikely it is to get value on any given placement.
6 -
I am SO bloody angry about this pointless change. All survivor perks basically suck. It already took a huge time sink to even GET Blast Mine. Now is just goes into the huge pile of survivor gutted and dead perks.
I actually USED this perk and now it's USELESS.
What the hell are the matter with these Devs? I'm so sick of everything beneficial in Solo Q being nerfed into the ground for no reason. WHo in their right mind would run this perk now?
8 -
I'm not exaggerating tho. You know what's an exaggeration? Nerfing a meme perk.
5 -
So was this a bug in the PTB and they didn't know how to fix it so they made it a feature? They never talked about updating this perk before the PTB. When I used Blast Mine in PTB I noticed it did this and others said it was a bug since BHVR never talked about that change. I can't help but think this is the reason for this needless change. Sad.
3 -
Agreed if this change stays, they need to drastically reduce the time to get blast mine. But I'd rather they just revert it back to how it was.
5 -
Seriously! Its a meme perk at best. NOBODY asked asked for this nerf. If ya'll gonna seriously nerf one of the funnest perks in the game then it needs to be 33% gen progress like wiretap to activate. 66% of a gen just to lose it if it times out makes a dead perk through and through. Thanks for ruining what would've been a fun combo with wiretap.
3 -
They pretty much murdered the only use it actually had which was to signal you were working on a gen, absolutely ridiculous change.
11 -
I used blast mine as solo survivor. One because it was fun to pair with parental guidance, but secondly, it let the other survivors know where I was and not run the killer in that direction. Why would they nerf a good info perk for Solo queue which already has a hard enough time with information?
8 -
it was a weak perk, but fun, and it was nerfed already because gens are longer, now its basically uselles
5 -
I'm now going to assume it's because BHVR wants everyone to spend $$$ buying the new #########. That's how they usually roll; "We're switchin' up the Meta! Fun! Edgy! Cool! We'll make every survivor perk useless, keep Killer meta the same, but look at these shiny new perks that don't suck as much you can buy now!".
4 -
I don't care how much posts discussing the change to Blast Mine shows up, we all want answers to why you developers even thought of giving it that nerf, do you even realize how weak it is now? If the killer didn't kick it when activated, that's another 66% of generator progress that the survivor has to do, Wiretap has a stronger effect in my opinion for a 33% repair progress for AURA reading. And no buff for it either.
The least you guys can do is at least give us a REASON why you did it instead of staying silent and moving all our discussions, because what you did to it was uncalled for.
5 -
it was a weak perk, but fun, and it was nerfed already because gens are longer, now its basically uselles, bring the old blast mine back pls
4 -
Blast Mine is in my regular go-to build. When you are using Blast Mine you don't expect it to be of much value, as in "it will help you win games", but its more in there for the fun and you giggling to yourself when you hear that distant low-pitch BOOM.
In most games I would maybe get two chances to use it, but this always depends on the killer to actually kick the gen, so you won't be throwing a mine on a gen with only the first cylinder moving, you just use it on a 65%+ gen if the killer drives you off and scares you away.
There was this one game were I had both meme resident evil perks, Blast Mine and Flashbang, equipped and blinded that poor Trickster 6 times! But that was a one of a kind, two trapped gens is the max you could hope for, as most games there just isn't enough gen time to generate more Blast Mines.
6 -
My meme build with parental guidance has been ruined..why bhvr?
1 -
Uh oh, sounds like a dev was blast mine'd too much and took it to heart
9 -
Probably because it was a bug in the PTB and they now made it a "feature" instead of fixing it. That's the only guess I can come up with. It was in the PTB but they never mentioned it as a perk rework. So you can only assume it was a bug in the PTB.
7 -
BHVR wants to shake the meta by nerfing no meta perks
Wow
2 -
Which is what Better Together does.
0 -
They merged my discussion/comment onto here, just shows they don't have an answer and that they can't handle criticism.
5 -
Tbh that's how I always thought it would work before seeing it was reusable if the killer didn't kick the gen. If they reduced the requirement to something like 30-40% I think it would still be an okay perk.
0 -
So disappointing to see non meta perks given the big old nerf bat
Even more so when it was one of the more "fun" perks
3 -
Cause I swear if they nerfed the easiest way for me to tell my teammates that I am working on a gen without having to use the nancy perk?
No like this isn’t a joke I actually used that perk alot just so I know where my gen was sometimes when I leave it, like a save point, and if I have to work on a gen forever just for a chance to have a killer kick it I will genuinely be heartbroken
3 -
This is a bad change. If an already weak perk is going to be nerfed so heavily, it at least needs to be buffed in another area to compensate. Either make it charge faster or make it stay on the generator longer (permanently) until triggered.
Regarding the yellow aura highlight of the perk, just remove it. Why do other survivors need to know there is a blast mine on a generator? It doesn't really impact anything, and it seems like this perk is being used as Better Together which might be the reason it is being nerfed to start with.
Personally, I would recommend reverting the nerf entirely and remove the yellow aura to prevent it from being used in unintended ways (Better Together).

Yes. Yes you did.
Happy Wesker Day :)

I'd say make it like 30 or 40%, BUT make it do what it says it does: repairing X% of a gen. Not necessarily by yourself, and if you have perks increasing gen repair speed, make it affect it. if you repair a gen with someone it shouldn't slow down your perk...
