Random Question: Why was the LEATHERFACE DLC different?
So most of us remember when he came out, and it being a weird surprise because he didn't come with his own map or survivor even though the possibility was there. So why was this the case?
Sudden and limited time rights?
Failed Map and relevant perk ideas?
Give us some light blessed divine McCote!

I'm not sure, but I think one could indeed argue that Leatherface came out to fix two major problems at that time:
Let's look at his perks:
Franklin's Demise came up when the flashlights went insane:
Insta 0,2s blinding time and a loooooot of DCs (in order to keep flashlights) made this a broken item with an insane inflationary amount of them.
BBQ: When the Lullaby DLC came out, survivors got WGLF that gave you up to 200% more bloodpoints per trial. Killer didn't had any BP multiplier perks until LF came out. Also, the balance back then was muuuuuch worse (double pallets, pallet vacuum). Those things combined resulted in many people switching to survivor (including many killer mains) simply because it was more easy, relaxed and gave you much more BPs. This led to insanely long waiting time on the survivor side (15min as solo, up to 50mins as a SWF) for the time between lullaby DLC and LF DLC.
*edit: Also, don't forget that back then Starbreeze still had the rights to DBD, which means that it might be possible that they also pushed the devs to release new content.4 -
Was that DLC released around the time they released Gas Heaven or Groaning Storehouse? That might explain the lack of a map.0

He was the first franchise killer I believe, though i may be wrong. So that could point to it being a new thing. The had released Bill as solo on the computer, so they were possibly considering the idea of doing more solo killers and survivors back in the day.
Also, Kate was designed around the time of leather face, and there is a lo of evidence pointing to the fact that she was gonna be the final girl of the remake of TCM (jessica biel), but they couldn't afford/get the rights to her character.

Considering he pretty much came out of nowhere with minimal tease, no map tied to him (Grim Pantry is part of the Hag's realm), no Survivor and a bunch of recycled add-ons i'd say he was without a doubt rushed out for the then upcoming Leatherface movie.

The amount of misinformation in this thread...
Alright, let me clear some things up:
LEATHERFACE was originally supposed to be a full Chapter. This was backed by several things.
1) LEATHERFACE internally was referred to as DLC6. Only Chapter DLCs have that designation followed by a number.
2) Back in those days, the devs also added the new Achievements we usually get for a Chapter about 1-2 months up front as hidden Achievements (I think that was some weird requirement by Steam at that time).
LEATHERFACE had 3 Achievements titled Ach_DLC6_Killer_(1-3) and 3 Achievements titled Ach_DLC6_Survivor(1-3). The Survivor ones were removed shortly before release.3) Kate Densons voice acting and associated files came into the game alongside Bubba's files and were also part of DLC6. She was originally supposed to be his Survivor, then got delayed until she was finally re-used a the Clown's Survivor almost a year later.
As for why LEATHERFACE suddenly became just a Paragraph? I've had a talk about this with a dev and he pointed some key things out: re-used Hillbilly Add-ons and the A Nightmare On Elm Street Chapter released just a month later.
LEATHERFACE suffered from time constraints. They didn't have enough time to create his own Add-ons (which was originally the plan) so all we got were the Chilli Add-ons and the Marks and the rest are Billy's Add-ons and due to the next Chapter with a much greater hype factor releasing just a month afterwards, they had to prioritise that over LEATHERFACE, robbing them of any time to finish it.
As for Grim Pantry. It was released alongside his crippled Chapter, but was never intended as HIS map. It was a long planned addition to the Backwater Swamp Realm of the Hag so that Granma's Cookbook wouldn't be a 100% chance for Pale Rose anymore.
Grim Pantry also was NEVER a part of the original Pale Rose. They are two distinct maps with completely different layouts and landmarks. They just got shrunk down in surface area by moving stuff closer together, a change that didn't happen until 2.3.0

Yeah they had another licensed killer come out fast and why feel freddy never got the proper treatment. Think they should of just ignored communitys want for killer and worked enough time in for leatherface and freddy. I denied freddy reveal cause knew time could dictate them having an original killer on back burner. But two licensed killers in that time frame was not wise choice if wanted quality release. Leatherface lacked content but got the character down well. While freddy had the content but lacked doing justice to character. Leatherface got to collect faces so he got something unique but it would of been enjoyable if he got his own chapter to pay homage to him.
They could just give him his own map, survivor, and addons in the future. I don't see why not beside the licensing

Not 100% sure on this, but I think it would be difficult to change or add more licenced content to an already existing DLC.
Also, Hillbilly is basically Leatherface... So you have some Maps, in theory.0 -

Haddonfield, Springwood and Gideon Meat Plant will probably stay singular because of licensing. But there's nothing stopping them from adding more Lery's Memorial Institute, Red Forest, Yamaoka Estate or Mt. Ormond maps.1 -

The fact that Kate Denson does have plenty and Bubbas unlockable masks do kinda indicate that. I would love to see him in the suit he wears at the end of the original once he gets his update.

That's what I was expecting, instead we got a an addition to the Nurse's map. There was so much potential for Clown's map and they didn't do it. I'm assuming they just didn't have enough time to make one

I don't give two damns what Cote says. Grim Pantry is not Bubba's map, it just got released alongside him because they had it on the back burner. Grim Pantry was in the game files long before anything relating to Bubba.

Her having a lot of cosmetics is no indication of anything related to Bubba. Bubba is a licenced Character, the cosmetic question with him is the exact same as with every other licenced Character: the devs have to ask the licence holders.

He was "solid" at release because no-one knew how to play against him, then the review bombs happened because of it then he got nerfed into oblivion then boom, worst Killer. Behaviour left no adapting time. If they did leave enough time then survivors would've learnt to counter him and he still would've been the worst killer, just not to the embarrassing degree he is now.

Naw, he'd have been mid tier, joint with Pig. The worst would be Bubba since Wraith is quite good right now.
