May not be the correct forum but: is there any update for a patch to the IP vulnerability for Steam?
Heard about it from a Youtube video posts on the 6th September. Seems like quite a worrying issue.

Well for the most part yes but I am sure there are some people who if they get angry on you they can go as far as for your IP and do some bad things. Like being salty because you played in some bad way for them or because of end game chat, etc.

No excuses it's pretty bad to leak the IP for many reasons. To begin with, you can geolocate the player.
But that's the minor of your concerns in case someone has bad intentions.

I have been ddosed 5 times yesterday and had to stop playing because I had like a 20 minute penalty...

I'm glad I finished the rift before the issue came to light, that's for sure. Taking a nice break from the game again until it's fixed. Immortal Empires in WH3 is certainly enough of a game to keep me happy in the meantime...I know the odds of me being targeted are low but I work from home and am not risking a salty child keeping me from doing my job.

I did a little too much trolling

I quit. I didn't know about this until now. No wonder I kept dc'ing. They didn't even mention this when I was reporting connection issues. W t f?
This is blatantly wreckless for them to keep selling stuff in their game while neglecting this issue. W t f?

It's been like this since last November? Wow.

I'm not as scared since my ip seems to place me in a whole different state so I'm good on this front. I'm just taking a break because this game has been hurting my soul.

I don't have the rift done yet, so what is the best thing to do? Get a VPN and play through that (and take the lag for granted)?

Fear mongering... lmfao what??? My guy no player in a video game should be able to IP trace somebody without consequence, it doesn't matter if they actually wind up doing it to one specific person or not

I guess the devs will only notice the issue after the playerbase drops hard enough, on its own or after players getting tired of being repeatedly DDoS'ed to 72-hour matchmaking bans. I mean, they only noticed issues with DS and DH after the playerbase started going to the rock bottom. Right now they are too busy coming up with new cosmetics and insane archive challenges.

This is a horrible mentality when crazy people exist. This game has an anonymous mode now, you can get ddosed for winning the game and you'll have no idea who did it. Don't be a jerk about it.

Ah, I see we've reached our yearly IP leak in DbD. Good stuff.

This game started out as peer to peer with everybody connecting to the killer's system. It's funny how NOW we are worried about our IPs being leaked.

Do any of you nuts realize the IP's of everyone were readily available the ENTIRE time when the Peer to Peer System was used for NEARLY FOUR YEARS????????
Think about that for a second.

I've gotten hit off, at this point, probably over 50 times in my DBD career.
When I was well enough to attend college (gosh that was a while ago), I actually missed an exam because they took my internet offline for 12 hours.

This became irrelevant the second they switched to dedicated servers because now there's no more excuse for that information to be easily accessible for people to be targeted without consequence. This isn't something new either that started this week, its just been getting progressively worse and its weird that you guys are trying to justify it only because the game used be P2P

Its not justifing to point out something true. The system was p2p and there are other games you may play that still are.

That's ridiculous that you were targeted 50 times because someone got salty over a videogame.
Hope it doesn't happen that often anymore though :)
