Freddy Re-Rework
I really enjoy playing as Freddy Krueger and his reworked power was fun to play, at least when it first came out. But now I don't think it's as fun as it used to be, actually I think his power died after the update after his rework release 😅. Point is does anyone think it might be time for another rework for Freddy? I would say the only fun and useful part of his power is to teleport to generators but that's it. Dream snares aren't as useful as they used to be and dream pallets are real easy to detect and avoid now. Any new ideas for Freddy or should we just send him to the void? 🤔

Freddy's rework should be reverted. His old version was fun and good.

Bring back old Freddy with some of New Freddy's mechanics (a la the teleport) and replace some of the old ones (like the constant aura reading) and see how he plays. If Sadako can find relative success being fun despite being a basic M1 killer then he might be able to too.

Power: Dream Demon
Pull survivors into the Dream World
-Survivors who are awake do not see The Nightmare.
-Once targeted by The Nightmare’s power, survivors enter the Dream Transition for 7 seconds.
-The Nightmare’s Movement Speed Penalty for putting a survivor into the Dream Transition lasts for 1 second.
-During the Dream Transition Survivors can see The Nightmare intermittently and they suffer from the Incapacitated status effect.
-When the Dream Transition Lapse, the Survivor is pulled into the Dream World.
Once in the Dream World:
-Survivor’s auras are revealed to The Nightmare when they are outside of his terror radius.
-Survivors suffer an action speed penalty of 40%.
-To exit the Dream World, Survivors can find non-sleeping Survivors to perform a wake up action.
-Failed Skill Checks can also wake up.
-Hooked Survivors wake up.
Special Ability: Dream Projection
-Teleport to a Generator in view. Releasing the button early will cancel the action.
-Survivors cannot interact with the targeted Generator.

fun? yes. good? hell no. Iif you were aganist casual/chill players you could have your part of fun but he was considered one of the weakest killer for a reason...

He was not that weak, i disagree with you here. He was best hit & run killer. CoH was not in game, so hit & run was viable. Freddy was mind-game killer. He was not for everyone but his mains loved him so much. I was one of them.
He needed some QoL changes and some buffs to his base-kit. Rework? I never wanted that honestly.

One of the few things in life you can always be sure of, is that no one knows that killer better than I do. I cannot deny the existence of weaknesses, nor the necessity to address them with small QoL improvements.
However, to say he was a contender for the weakest killer is simply...wrong. The strength was always there, but not everyone was willing to put in the effort to say it.
But anyway, the idea here is to bring him back with the QoL changes, so it doesn't really matter.

he had a counter so strong that he could did nothing: failing skillchecks. you heard me, failing a skill check prevented any hit done by him... so you wasted the entire game to put on sleep people (8 seconds of wait since it wasn't instant, during that time the survivors could act without worrying to being bodyblocked or hitted), hit them with some luck if they were out of position or if they didn't failed a skillcheck on purpose in order to WAKE UP INSTANTLY, search someone else (in case you did the hit and run tactic) did the same. once injured then what? if they had selfcare (which was popular in that time), it was sufficient to miss a skillcheck while healing in order to wake up instantly. How a killer like that, without antiloop power, could be even considered barely viable?

That's why i said he needed some QoL changes and buffs.
Sadako is unique and fun killer in game right now. She is at weak side, right? And she needs some buffs. But this buffs should make her powers better, this does not mean she needs rework. They had chance to make this for Old Freddy but they reworked him to very boring killer.

Honestly I want them to rework Freddy to be Freddy, old Freddy was the closest we had to Freddy actually having his powers, current Freddy is the opposite of how he was in the movies and honestly I feel like his rework only exists because they wanted to try and make freddy stronger, but honestly i’d argue that new freddy is worse than old freddy

It's just hard for me to swallow. It's not like Nemesis where he gives you a free sprint burst, but you did have to put survivors asleep before you could hit them, which they could reverse by failing a skill check, and you gave them a big heads up when you did put them to sleep. I'm not familiar with his old add-ons, but I doubt any of them changed this interaction.

BHVR has a bad track record of murdering killers kits because of having a strong part of their kit on release or a few strong addons.
April of last year they nerfed his basekit by a lot for no reason in weird ways
- Quality of Life: increased the brightness of the Dream World indicator on the HUD.
- Nerf: added a Movement Speed penalty while placing Dream Snares, slowing The Nightmare to 4.0 m/s or 100 %.
- Nerf: reduced the maximum number of placed Dream Snares from 8 to 5.
- Nerf: reduced the maximum number of placed Dream Pallets from 10 to 7.
- Nerf: Survivors using Alarm Clocks are granted full immunity from falling asleep for 30 seconds, including when The Nightmare attacks them.
- This is indicated on the HUD by a yellow sleep timer ticking down.
- Revisited some Add-ons.
The action penalty addon changes were justified, but they were changed to be completely useless like 99% of his addons. This was the same patch that made BT no longer based on terror radius btw so one of his few benefits was removed.

@GeneralV What were some of your favourite parts of old Freddy? I ask as a fellow old Freddy main.
Mine was throwing on double range addons and sweeping his projection left and right across the map. It would lock onto survivors even through walls, so nobody could ever hide from Freddy.
And the over 30m range meant that the 7 seconds was not a downside since they would be asleep when Freddy was close enough to hit them anyway.

There were block addons, which could massive reduce the transition time from 7 seconds to 3.5 seconds, giving them far less time to react. I always ran them, but I wasn't the best at killer so I don't know if I'd prefer some of his other ones now (like Class Photo, which increased the transition to 9 seconds but revealed all survivors when someone was in the transition).
Either way, I'd actually really like to see how Old Freddy™ would be in today's DBD.

Old Freddy didn't have anything good aside from seeing auras outside from his terror radius plus that you could use monitor to sneak on survivors
But it was somewhat scary
With all these new maps and other stuff this game is like a walk in the park. It's not scary
Old Freddy could be coutered very easy with self care gens med kits and other stuff because of skill checks
But now that self care is nerfed? But we have books so useless

Freddy wasn’t that bad. He wasn’t great, but he was really slept on. And if he was brought back I think he would be a lot better simply because the meta had shifted so much.
Old Freddy’s biggest weakness was that everyone was running Self-Care back then so everyone could wake up almost instantly. Playing as Freddy against a team of Self-Carers was awful, but against a team with zero Self-Care he was actually a threat as you had no way to wake up easily. I remember the old “de-pip squad” mentioning that Freddy was actually a bit of challenge because none of them ran Self-Care.
Now that Self-Care is basically dead I think old Freddy would actually be kind of viable.

True, but CoH would be no where near as bad as Self-Care was.
- CoH cannot be used mid chase (in most situations at least)
- They have to go to the Boon to heal. Depending on the distance they are better off just using a gen to wake up. Also, Freddy now knows where the Boon is and can sneak up on them or snuff it later.
- If Freddy snuffs the totem, they need to reset it and against a killer with built in slowdown, that is not always a good idea.
- If CoH is still a big issue, you can at least run Shattered Hope. No perk countered old Self Care.
Medkits would still be an issue, but at least by forcing them to fail skill check with it they are probably not going to get much healing from it. Add in Sloppy for haemorrhage and no one is going to be healing against Freddy with medkits.

There we are again. Another man who cares about Freddy in his current disgraceful state.
His "power" was his synergy to gen regression perks. Because he has only 1 addon in his kit, that was everything he could do.
But after the devs killed "his" perks Ruin, Tinkerer, Pop, Dead Mans Switch + he cannot use a lot of perks because he has no Terror-Radius + his antiloop is boring and mediocre at max, he has become a bottom 3 killer.
Now people say: but he has a Terror-Radius?
Yes, when survivors are awake... but your power is called DREAM DEMON, so his mechanics is to be around survivors are in a (useless) Filter called Dreamworld.
I prestiged him to 21, maybe I am the highest Prestige-Freddy in the entire game, but I feel so sorry for him right now.
I disagree with Otz putting him above Myers and Sadako. These two at least have decent or different builds to offer and some really fun addons.
Freddy = worst addons in the game, not many Perk-Synergy with his mechanics, because all gen-perks are got killed (except u want to run Eruption, Overcharge and Call of Brine... so 3 Perk Slots for kicking like a bot...) and no identity.

One thing: you should not get punished for hooking, so they should not wake up at the hook.

Bringing old freddy back would still be a terrible idea.
Survivors hated going against the action speed penalty and free aura reading freddy had back in the days, if he came back in today's dbd, he would be worse than ever and i guarantee you there will be just as many complaints about him as back then.
His inbuilt action speed penalty which could only be removed by failing a skill check + todays killer slowdown perks + the additional 10 seconds to gen repair time.
like imagine the absolute kill counts that would happen if gens suddenly took 180 seconds, double what they are now, think pain res is strong now? give it to old freddy, that 15%? yeah thats gonna be FAR more noticeable than ever before, 15% PLUS teleporting to the gen PLUS pop goes the weasel PLUS deadlock/DMS? you'd effectively bring back forever freddy.

If they rework him again then players who enjoy him now lose the killer they enjoy too

Oh, I am so sorry I missed this. The Forums being bugged right now is very annoying.
It is almost impossible to answer your question, to be honest. I loved every single damn aspect of that killer, more than anyone did and ever will. But if I had to mention something that stands out, I would mention the Spooky Freddy build.
Using RPB and M&A to have a 0 meters TR was always an amazing experience.
But we, as Old Freddy mains, lost him first.
This time it would be justified.

Why should anyone have to lose their version of Freddy at all? Why can't we have both? Personally, I think Freddy's power should be customizable with the use of add-ons kinda like how, right now, one ability can be changed from the Dream Snares to the Dream Pallets. Why not give him more unique abilities that can change his power and how he is used.
For example, Freddy's power would be like it is now. Dream Snares and Dream Projection are what you have by default. But with an add-on you could change his Dream Snares into Dream Pallets or his old ability to pull people into the dream world. While the 2nd ability, the Dream Projection, would have 2 other choices to use instead as well. One of which could be to allow Freddy to enter or Exit the Dream World at will and function kinda like Wraith or Sadako's does. While in the Dream World, it would function like it originally did...only this time the player has the option of exiting the dream world himself.
The idea might need some refinement, but I believe no one has to lose THEIR Freddy at all when it could be possible that we can have both.

The old freddy, the first freddy i mean, was unique and fun. AND WEAK! It should have been powered up and buffed, not reworked. Now it is the most boring killer to play, the most easy to bully and definitely the weakest if you play pallet freddy.
I would relaly like the oniric ray to come back and Freddy being now active part in making the survivor sleep.
