How to make the Trapper really fearful (and viable at high ranks)
There is a very simple way to make him much more fearful: increase the traps possessed and transportable, make its power really incisive. The Hag has 10 phantom traps, which automatically return to her black finger as soon as they are destroyed with the torch or triggered. Ten traps would definitely be unmanageable, as they immobilize the survivor, of course. But think of the Huntress, equipped with 5 hatchets, easily rechargeable with a few seconds of locker opening. Well, I propose to remove four traps scattered in the map and give them to the Trapper, for a standard equipment of 5 Bear Traps: he will still have to recover them, one by one, from the ground after use, and spend a lot of time to place them. This is a trivial change for programming, but really revolutionary to restore dignity to an even too mistreated killer.

Considering how easily traps can be countered, he should definitely spawn with more of them.
Low-key think some of his add-ons should be default too. Like the one that injuries when you disarm a trap. And the one that incapacitates you when you escape.0 -

The problem is how easily survivors can get rid of traps and that they can communicate their location via comms.
How can that be fixed? Idk really, maybe increase the base disarming time?A
Then their hitboxes are utterly broken, you will trap yourself but a survivor can pass easily.Also they really need to get rid of the RNG

He's viable at red ranks if the Trapper is good and doesn't always place traps in the obvious locations and depend on them. The sneaky Trappers are the ones that'll put some obvious ones out in the usual spots but then place some in not so obvious spots.

@powerbats Yes, the Trapper has to place his traps in hidden places, but keeping just 1 Bear Trap in his own backpack is a really poor power.

Let him throw traps on a rope. That'll put fear back into them. Honestly though, he needs to start with all his traps and the tar add ons need to be reworked heavily or actually make them darker. His add ons for setting them up quicker should be base as well. I personally believe trapper is worse than Freddy. At least Freddy's add ons let me see where everyone else is and mind game the survivors. Trapper just feels..weak and dull. Maybe I'm not using his traps right but when I play I get maybe one or two people trapped per match.

First fix his trap's hitbox so a survivor can't squeeze around anymore while Trapper can't in a lot of paths/loops.
Give him 2 traps to his base kit, change his bags addons accordingly so he can't have 5 traps by cumulating them.
Lower the % of chance of escaping from the traps so you can no longer insta-escape alone from it.

Buff the % of the recoils addons so it actually do something.Slightly darken the basic traps, no need to change the addons.
Maybe not enought to make him viable, but that would be some nice and logical changes for this poor dude.

@Peanits made some good points in another thread last year about Trapper starting with extra traps as base but I can't remember which thread that was in.

Trapper should spawn with all traps attached to him. No picking up and on top he can no longer step into his own traps. These two changes would make him a lot better. Not Billy like strong, but no longer bottom tier.
