Can we hide Prestige until endgame?
I'm tired of waiting in a lobby forever because of people dodging due to seeing a really high prestige and associating that with skill

Showing prestige in the pregame lobby is just a terrible idea in general. It encourages lobby shopping - killers don't like seeing high prestige survivors, survivors don't like getting P0 default survivors as teammates - and it can also tell the killer who the weakest link is in those same circumstances.

Agreed, they removed ranks because they knew people would judge other's because of it, yet they then go and implement Prestiges

I agree. Prestige should never have been shown in pre-game lobbies.
It should be in post game lobbies and custom matches only.

Just the other day I was in a lobby with someone who was prestige 100 and literally ever killer that joined would immediately leave
1 -
I honestly can't understand this. Why would they do this again?
3 -
One of the highest prestige'd survivors I ever got matched with used an RPD offering and then let go on first hook at 5 gens to leave the rest of us to deal with an iridescent Lament Configuration Pinhead. I definitely don't judge based on prestige lol.
It's a bit silly anyway, because I put my bp into mainly one survivor, so me having a higher prestige on her doesn't mean I have the same experience and skill as someone who has put the time into getting like 5+ survivors to that same level - which you can't tell in lobby anyway. So lobby dodging is a bit silly imo

*Can we hide Prestige?*
I don't see any reason for people to see it.

Wonder if they assumed they were a cheater? Not all are obviously but they might have wanted to err on the side of caution
1 -
LOGIC obviously
0 -
I was able to check their profile and see they had 8500+ hours in DBD so fairly confident they were legit, but obviously most people play on Console so they can't check
0 -
No, I like being able to dodge baby survivors when I'm playing survivor/killer. I shouldn't be getting put with them anyways.
0 -
Agreed. Should only be in postgame.
0 -
I agree, there is no reason to show this to other players, in my opinion killers shouldn't see survs or their items until the match starts
2 -
Case in point. Low Prestige does not mean baby Survivor. This mentality is why Prestige should not be shown in lobby.
4 -
A P0 Ada or Zarina doesn't mean anything, but a P0 Dwight or Bill is not a good sign, teammate-wise. There's always exceptions, but I'd say the pre-match profiling ends up being right more often than not.

That's a really dumb assumption. I have most survivors P10, and lots of the newer ones P1. All of them have the same perks now.
Sometimes I even play the P1s/ P0s on purpose to look less threatening in a lobby
1 -
Default survivors. I'm not talking about newer characters or any DLC characters period, I'm talking about the ones that come with the game.
If you don't even have Bill's or Meg's perks unlocked, you're probably brand new and I don't want to take the risk of having you on my team.
1 -
the only reason prestige goes past 9 now is to show off time put into a character, hiding it altogether defeats that and makes it pointless
1 -
Yeah, they should only really show it at the end of the match
1 -
This is why they should keep it as it is. I will dodge players that are playing a P0 character like Claudette, David, Laurie Bill etc. If BHVR is not matching me up with players equal to my skill level, at least I have the option of dodging the lobby. I shouldn't be playing with those players.
I also like how you can show off your prestige in pre-game lobby and I do like seeing other players dedication to a character, so would like it to stay regardless.

The only thing that comes out of seeing it in a pre-game lobby are assumptions, and everyone knows the saying about that.
I have all survivor perks available on every one of my survivors. I'm not playing any differently with my Prestige 20+ Meg wearing a fancy cosmetic than I am with my Prestige 3 Tapp in his default. But the perception of what I might be capable of -- whether by my potential teammates in solo queue or by a killer viewing the lobby -- might be vastly different depending which one they see standing there.
For people who want it to be shown off, there's an endgame screen that does that quite nicely.

I sorta get the various reasonings for the dodging, but since it borks up the matchmaking it ends up not being worth it.
How can we moan & groan about the matchmaking while knowingly making it worse with all the dodging?

yes please remove it!

This has been the main reason I've put off prestiging my favorite characters because I know that people dodge scary big numbers. I've played against prestige 60-70 people and just because that number is high doesn't mean they're going to play great. I won't say they're bad but I've absolutely flattened prestige 60+ survivors. The number just means they've put a lot of bloodpoints into that character and nothing else.
Every time I play survivor and a high prestige survivor is in my lobby it takes forever to get the game to start because the lobby will cycle through like 5-6 killers before there's a killer who actually realizes prestige doesn't = skill.

The only thing it can be associated with is cheating or playing too much.

It helps to spot cheaters.

What is the difference between me getting on me Prestige 22 Survivor, and then swapping over to a Prestige 0 character because I have a daily using them?
0 -
I'm neutral on this one. Although I noticed lobby shopping too. This is why I always go into lobbies with my main now and change later. As killer I know that P0 or P40 just show how dedicated you are to that character.
Sure, there are P30s and 40s who dodge lobbies with P20s or lower in, but I don't really care. If they think they are better just because their prestige is higher, be my guest. My P26 Jeff could be somewhere in P40s by now if I didn't spend all the BP fror Wesker (P9), Rebecca and Ada (both P6). And I will probably rotate BP between Jeff and Wesker.
If a cheater is so dumb to swap between multiple P100 characters in the lobby.......they deserve the ban.
I realised this quite soon. Especially after a youtube video of a guy who farmed BP en mass to get to P100 quickly. It just shows what character you like. Nothing more.
Even these default survivors without prestige can be on a person who has a decent amount of playtime. Some people didn't bother to waste any BP in characters they don't play. Therefore they stopped at Lvl40 and never bought any cosmetic for them. But they have a P60 whoever anywere and just have to do a daily with a "default" claudette. This happened to me yesterday with a default P0 Nea who had 6k hrs. I asked who their main were and they said Feng, but they had a daily to escape with Nea.
But you need to be careful with these survivors. True.

It absolutely should be. Does that mean they are a baby survivor? No, but I'd say that's the case more often than not. This is why I dodge those people to begin with (from experience).

Read my reply to Ghoste.

I think thats a good idea.

I'd even go further and say lobbies should just be invisible behind the scenes and when you hit Ready it just eventually starts the match up. There's really no need for players to see each other prior the match starting.
1 -
I don't know why people act like there is no correlation between experience and skill. There absolutely is and I know this for a fact after playing this game for 3000 hours. There are certainly exceptions but more often than not the more experienced player is better. 9.5/10 times the prestige 40 is better than the prestige 2. Same with the 3000 hour survivor vs the 200 hour survivor.
2 -
Dude, I wish. Imagine how much time we would save not waiting in lobby for everyone to ready up again. This would eliminate dodging too. Omg that is a lot of time saved.
2 -
Yes but it shouldn't be made that easy. If prestige were hidden and you see a default cosmetic Dwight, Meg, Claudette or Jake you can either be up against a noob or a smurf. If you see their prestige, you can peg them every time. P0 default Dwight = almost always a noob while P10 default Dwight is a dead giveaway you have an 1K+ hour player trying to disguise it.
No one is suggesting here that it be hidden altogether. It would still be shown on the post-game tally screen. "Damn that Dwight was good, oh tish he's P69!" rather than an easy pre-game dodge.

Imagine having an argument so weak and so lazy you have to redirect someone to a different post you made and put the onus of finding it on them.
0 -
Not hard to find, lol. Weak and lazy? No. It's short and to the point. I want to dodge people that are most likely new to the game. Why should I play with new players that aren't gonna touch a gen and leave me to die on first hook? Same on the killer side. Why should I go against new players as killer and make their game miserable? This is a good thing.
Edit- Again, not all non-prestige characters are new players but a lot of them are. I'm not dealing with that.
0 -
It's not about hard to find. It's about making someone else go through the effort of finding YOUR post. You literally gave enough of a crap to reply, but not enough to state an argument? That's like watching a TV show because you can't be bothered to get up and walk the 5 feet to get the remote.

Oh, sure, there's exceptions. I remember once getting a P0 Dwight and a P0 Jake and thinking 'this match is gonna suck', only for them to be on-point gamers who knew exactly what they were supposed to be doing at all times.
It's just that eighty percent of the time, that P0 Blendette is exactly what she looks like, and when I'm riding a 6-game death steak, I don't feel like taking the gamble on her. I imagine it's the same reason people dodge P100s; there's a chance it's not a cheater, but people don't want to take the risk.
I do think it would be healthier for the game to remove the option to shop and only show prestiges in endgame. What I'm saying is that the behavior I'm exhibiting is exactly why it never should have been a feature.
