Hyperfocus - Feedback
Hyperfocus gives you tokens for each great skill check. A good skill check removes all your tokens. Each token increases the gen repair bonus but also increases the skill check speed.
I made a build around this perk.
- Hyperfocus
- No Mither
- This Is Not Happening
- Off the Record
I found that I had to run “Off the Record” because the killer would try to tunnel me out of the game when he noticed I had No Mither.
I played very carefully. I tried not to leave scratch marks, and was stealthy. It did mostly work as I escaped about half my games but it was very high risk with not as much reward.
Hyperfocus Review
With the increased great skill check size from “This Is Not Happening” I was able to hit the first two skill checks somewhat consistently.
Token Breakdown
- Brain dead easy
- Sometimes miss it
- Wow the difficulty just increased by 1000000%
- Impossible, lucky if I even get a normal skill check.
- Never got 5 tokens.
- Nope.
Maybe I suck at skill checks though. I didn’t really understand why there are 6 tokens. Given the amount of risk I was taking, it didn’t really feel like I was getting enough value out of Hyperfocus.
Thank you to all the survivors who took hits for me when the killer was trying to tunnel me out of the game. I think No Mither gives them rage or something.

It's almost mandatory to run stakeout with hyperfocus imo, the extra 1% from stakeout applies to hyperfocus. In addition to making the effect of hyperfocus stronger it also combos extremely well to your point in helping with those later skill checks. I would try your experiment again with stakeout swapped out for one of your other perks and see how you feel about it. Just with those perks alone you can make a solo gen take around 55ish seconds solo

Wow I forgot this perk existed. There’s just too many perks and no good way to filter them in game I guess.
I have to try this. Thank you!

Yeah I would be surprised if the devs are keeping a close eye on the Hyperfocus plus Stakeout combo. There’s a lot of buzz about it maybe being overpowered.

I just think the easiest nerf that would not kill this perk would be to just not have it work with toolboxes. that's it

That’s one possible change, the other is not have Stakeout count as Great checks for purposes of Hyperfocus.

I disagree with the last bit, because stake out by itself is not worth it, and it's nice to have new perk combos. taking that away would just make the perk essentially useless, and we're always talking about perk diversity.

It wouldn't make Hyperfocus useless, there are people who can hit Great skill checks with enough consistency to make it worth using for them.

I'm saying that it would make stake out useless since no one would have a reason to use that perk now.

Could be, if so then they can always buff Stakeout later. 🤷♂️

I don’t think removing perk combos is a good idea. It would just make the game stale. Half the fun of DBD is trying out different perk combos and seeing how it plays out.
removing that is akin to sucking the fun out of the game.
Now, if most players are running the same perks. That’s not healthy either. Most people still use dead hard at high MMR from my experience as killer. It’s just harder for them to use.
