An idea
After reading Pulsar's....essay, I went to thinking about ways to buff solo. Most were tossed but this one we liked so we'll share it and see how we get bashed.
Base kit Kindred minus being able to see the killer and then buff Kindred so it does the following:
- See the killer if they're by the hook (as normal)
- Highlight things the other survivors are doing. If they're on a gen it gets highlighted, totems highlighted, if a survivor is in a locker highlight the locker. (We REALY want this one)
- Let the effects linger for a few seconds and if the killer is near the unhooked survivor (probably tunneling) then reveal the killer for the duration of the linger.
Thoughts? New ideas? Cookies? (Its late don't judge)

well that's good and all, but survivors get more aura reading, what do killers get? and honestly just a basekit kindred is more than enough
and aren't boons already highlighted?
lockers being highlighted would spark more trapping or throwing games
and highlighting gens being worked would help soloQ but would also push genrushing to the limit

Why do Killers necessarily need something?
This change would just help us get to a baseline. There's such a huge disparity between 4-man teams and Solo Q players right now that it's very hard to tell what's balanced and what isn't.
As a very broad example, Nurse. Nurse is fine and balanced when she goes up against a 4-man team. Nurse is not fine and balanced when she stomps a Solo Q squad.

I think the perk buffs look nice, but Kindred's strength is also to see if killer is camping.
If the hooked person is in a swf, their buddy knows and won't go for the unhook (unless excessive altruism). Any solo teammate, seeing no one go for the unhook through basekit Kindred, but not seeing killer camping, would probably go.
If the purpose of basekit Kindred is to bring info to solos to the level of swf, regarding what happens when someone is hooked, isnt it necessary to keep the killer aura reading as well ?
If the problem is with seeing where killer is heading without a perk slot, then simply making the survivor's aura pink instead of red if killer is near would give the info about camping without giving more information in other contexts where killer actually leaves.
(I am 100% not looking for an argument or snarky comebacks, it's a genuine question. The proposed basekit effect is already better than nothing.)

buff survivors = all other killers are that aren't nurse suffer and SWF gets even more buffed
buff killers = nurse exists
i think nurse has become the center of dbd at this point

Adding a base-kit Kindred doesn't buff SWF's.
They literally have this info for free. All it does is buff Solo Q.

They should just have defined mmr ranks and have the perk stats scale up per mmr rank.

i mean u have a point its not gonna effect the game much but what would kindred perk do by that point, and does kindred get countered by stealth ?

I was very much aware
Personally when im solo with kindred i tend to pay attention to all survivors. If 1 is sitting next to the hook but not doing anything, id assume the killer is either camping or theres some kinda grudge match between the 2. That outta the way, if the whole of kindred was added basekit then the perk is pritty much dead in the water and needs reworked again which im trying to avoid. The point of the proposed buffs was so kindred still has some worth as a perk by showing what the killer did/ is doing around the hook and the linger effect adds more value and info for the average solo (plus we REALY want to have hiding survivors aura's highlighted). If i missed the point i appoligize but i got a wicked head ach atm.
As stated, kindred gives everyone info on what the killer is doing around the hook since basekit wont have that.

The point is to lower the gap between solo and swf, swf can call out where the killer goes so basekit kindred should keep that. Does not have to be the same range however.

I agree with the sentiment, that soloQ needs some love, but as an avid user of Kindred+Open Handed, I know how utterly busted long-lasting aura reading abilities can be. When a survivor is hangig you easily win each and every mindgame with the killer, because there is no mindgame to play.
How about this: basekit kindred without the aura reading. The other survivors get the kindred icon on their HUD and it works like Spine Chill, but with the killers proximity to the hook. This way they would know if the killer is around, if the killer is facecamping etc. but they wouldn't have a constant visual confirmation; thats what you would need the full perk for,

I'd be happy with the auras of other survivors when someone is hooked. Anything beyond that is a bonus. The idea for basekit kindred came from wanting to boost solo up a bit closer to swfs. If a swf is on hook they can communicate and plan when one is going for the save so the others can stay on gens or take chase. Arguably, the person on hook can also tell his team mates if the killer is camping and where they are. But I'm okay with the latter remaining a perk exclusive.

If we buff Soloq survivors to SWF levels then we can really buff killers.

a ping system would do amazing but i certainly do not want survivors screaming in my eears or spamming use mic in pre lobby and just leaving when u refuse

Im not talking about voice comms.
Did you ever play Identity V? Something like those speech bubbles that also shows their general location. Or one idea that someone even made icons for where near the survivor it shows a little icon of what they're doing.
Small things like that give info that SWF already have, bringing them just a bit closer.

Yes I also believe that making a basekit Kindred would help Solo's and just be there for SWF
And Equipping Kindred would then need more... And I do like what was posted (OP)

that's a good idea, but i got the feeling BHVR will make it so the killer can see it too, just a feeling
