PTB features some flashlight changes to help with photosensitivity!

I'm curious if people will take issue with this change. I remember a thread some months ago where a large portion of people seemed to have the opinion no changes should be made and photosensitive people just shouldn't play.

Wish they would change the transition speed when Dredge's nightfall ends and the lights turn back on. That stuff is worse than flashlight beams. Especially on darker maps like Shelter Woods.
1 -
It's because macro clicking is a good mindgame to use against the killer!
4 -
There's bound to be people upset with this change, because "it's a nerf to flashlights" even though this kind of change shouldn't affect normal flashlight gameplay.
6 -
I feel like some dev got flashlight clicked

Yes, I am sure the devs were never clicked in the past 6 years. Until now.
15 -
those people should try staying quiet for once
13 -
At long last, this one has been a much needed feature for a long time.
2 -
Flashlights can dazzle the killer by continuing to shine.
Do I need to flash it on and off? Under what circumstances?
People who use it to insult you will hate this patch that no longer allows flashing.

Macro clickers btfo

Okay, so we’re ignoring that I made a joke and play the logic game.
Then why didn’t they add a cooldown for flashlights in the past 6 years huh? 🤡

It's genuinely hard to tell what is a joke here, sometimes.

True

Here we go again with game being tailored for a very small minority of its playerbase,,First time in my life i see a game being changed this way even though there's a ptotosensitivity/epilepsy warning ,,,meanwhile whole freaking game has flickering lights right and left,,,at least have the stomach to say macro clicking got some people triggered so we remove it
4 -
Oh it triggered something in people alright.
Triggered a seizure that could have landed them in the hospital or worse.
At least the username checks out.
10 -
they definitely work in health or life insurance.
3 -
Photosensitive people should consult with their doctors and find out if they can or shouldn't play video games,,changing game for a minority of people just doesn't make sense,,,and to be fair puttin a cooldown on beamers may also take away your ability to correct a flashlight save timing you started early
1 -
Pretext to tone down the so-called toxicity of flashlights.

So the username, it's kind of a roleplay thing?
4 -
Am I losing my mind or did that say something else entirely minutes ago?

Depends on how you perceive entitled :)

No,you missed the part where i was replying to someone else :)

If it helps with photosensitivity, good. There's really not a functional reason for flashlight macros or rapid clicking outside of trying to annoy someone. I just don't want to see flashlights get nerfed in a general sense. Well, locker flashlights can go. But other than that and macros, flashlights are fine.
5 -
it's a good change. i just hope the delay between the first and second click remains the same because sometimes you start a blind too early when going for a save so you need to delay it a bit to get the timing right

There was literally a thread months back about someone whose family member had a seizure as a result of flashlight macros. The entire thread was victim blaming garbage. So, I am not surprised people are complaining that said victims aren't going to keep receiving punishment.
Also the warnings given aren't sufficient. Most people who have photo sensitivity can play most games with no issue. Flashlights and the like just caused more issues than other sources, for people. There's no reason to leave it in, and it's probably a good idea for bhvr to cover itself from lawsuits, or intervention from governments.
3 -
I mean, if you're photosensitive playing video games... that's kinda a read flag already
1 -
Not really, since as stated, the vast majority of photo sensitive people can play games just fine. DBD was a specific issue. And still, not active reason is being given to keep it in, aside from cruelty.
2 -
Not to mention that the photosensitivity warning is a relatively new addition anyway. If memory serves, the Sadako release came with it. And even then, I only recall seeing it once in-game.
0 -
I have never seen this warning so if it happened then it happened once and never showed up again in game for me.
0 -
You can't be ignoring warnings about a condition you suffer and still be classified as "victim"
1 -
I mean, I don't know how DBD is a specific issue when there's flashing lights in hundreds of other games
1 -
ah yes the classic "disabled people shouldn't be allowed to have fun" comments have arrived.
hate it here
12 -
They can have fun but they should be fully aware of the risks involved,,, isnt this the same with every condition thst can potentially cause problems with certain triggers?
1 -
Fast clicking conferred zero actual tangible gameplay utility. Even a shred of potential downside justifies this change, and there was plenty.
I guess clickers will just have to teabag more to get their point across now? Tough times.
7 -
People really out here unironically complaining about removing a stupid gimmick for the sake of accessibility. And about needing to adjust the flashlight, you could just get the timing right the first time.
9 -
finally, a well-deserved nerf.

At least have the stomach to admit you’re mad you won’t be able to be a toxic clicky clicky and move on.
6 -
If you think macro clicks are toxic you probably are too soft to begin with,, cheeky bm sure, toxic not even close but whatever makes you cope 💁♂️
1 -
… that’s what BM is, bud. Toxic conduct/toxic behavior are actions that are considered bad manners lol
Also, if you’re not gonna admit it then I’d steer clear of asking the devs to “have the stomache “ for anything.
Come on bud, muster up the courage. You like to macro click at killers, it’s ok.
You won’t be able to much longer
7 -
Oooh sweet Jesus you're a precious one aren't ya😅😅i will miss my macro clicks for sure, just like you miss the difference between being sassy /cheeky vs being actually toxic
1 -
Things don't work like that. Not all flashing lights are the same. There's many varying reasons one set of flashing lights might cause more issues than another.
1 -
This is a fantastic change and I'm exceptionally glad that they're finally addressing this. There was no reason for macros to exist and they caused problem without bringing a shred of good to the game, so I'll be happy to see the last of them and their visual/audio distress. Well done, team!
3 -
I hope BHVR changes the timing on saves because you can't make quick adjustments anymore.

It's not cheeky, it's obnoxious. Clicking normally and teabagging are cheeky. The only reason to macro click is to intentionally be annoying and obnoxious (at the very least).
For some it's the light. For me it's the sound, like something is wrong with my headphones.
It adds nothing to the game unless you get off on annoying people.
4 -
It looks to me that the true reason behind this is to prevent macros. Photosensitive people don't play video games or at least shoudn't. Im pretty sure there are plenty other "triggers" in dbd that could cause seizures but at least its a start.

Remember the McCote Hag game?🤣

"Photosensitive people don't play video games"
lol, are you for real?
3 -
I said don't play or at least they shouldn't, don't cut and quote.. There is a huge seizure warning in most games and even in some that don't do it, people that suffer from this can get seizures. So If someone decide to ignore the warnings its not wise and they aren't caring about themselves.

Yeah I don't like the flashlight changes. The now screen flashing with Last Standing is alot more than clicking, and it can still be flashing even without the weird delay. Its kinda Dumb and removes even more acquired in-game skills like pallet fakes and beamer 360s. The took a whole lot of skill and autonomy away with majority of this PTB.

Finally, the idiots have one less option to demostrate they're idiots in this game.
