Please don't add FOMO
FOMO = Fear of missing out
Limited time paid skins is a big no no. This is not a free to play game. This is a paid game on top of having battle pass, store with skins and paid DLCs for characters. Now we will add FOMO? Seriously? No, thanks.

I'm fine with it if:
The skins are available for purchase with shards (not just cash).
They won't be re-skinned.
The price is reasonable.

Unfortunately, people have been saying this ever since they first floated the idea and BHVR's marketing team hasn't given one single feck about it. They've already refactored the whole shop pipeline in preparation for it, and at this point, I have trouble believing they'd keep the kind, actual-business-sacrifice part of it and walk back the nasty, capitalistic one.
It's gross, it's predatory, and it's coming whether we want it or not.

If people buy it, they will keep doing it. And frankly, both outfits are really good. They’re purple (standard new outfit price).
Players are going to buy them.
If they did this at a discount. Eight-ish dollars worth of auric cells, I think they might actually get a rush to purchase.

I remember when in 2018 BHVR has given out hard earned event skins and PAX skins because "exclusivity is a nono", while simultaneously refusing to address legacy problem.
Now they return back to time limited skins, only now they are also in the shop instead of being earnable. Meh

I hate the idea too since I pretty much have to work, come home, sleep, repeat. I barely have time for games anymore since I just got my hours at work increased dramatically. Why waste money on a game I barely have time to play anymore though tbh. It's inconsiderate not thinking of people who have important things going on or work and they don't have time to play as much. Keep the skins in the store, what's the worse that can do? More choices for cosmetics? *GASP*

why am i even surprised at this point, if bhvr is willing to work with companies who have long histories of employee abuse and manipulating their playerbases of course they're gonna adopt their ######### predatory business tactics too.

Dead by Daylight is one of those rares GaaS that have a minimal FOMO compared to others, and I was wishing they would eventually address that one day. I was wrong, they are willing to becoming worse.

Money talks

True. That's why we should force a change by not spending our money.

Sadly I believe the community brought this on itself, the surveys they make? Im sure they analyzed the data and it showed big $$$ if they added FOMO stuff.
Whales gotta whale...

They will add it. Let's just hope they won't add it again.
Show them that you don't want it by not buying it. Because if people complain about it and buy it anyways they won't care how you feel and will keep doing it.

Are there so many children playing that it would have any significant impact?
(Then again, I fail to see the point of skins in general, except when they are a camouflage)
1 -
yeah as soon as I saw the FOMO tid bit I was disappointed
2 -
Its more of people not liking FOMO anyways as some people don’t want to spend money on video games
+ it can lead to a problem this game was supposed to solve by removing the exclusives, they quite literally took a step forward then took a step backwards

Yup. Don't support a product you can get literally thousands of hours of content out of for $20, or less if bought on sale. This is really simple. Do you like the game? Then support it if you can. Don't act like they're here putting a gun in your face demanding your money. You don't have to buy anything after the initial game purchase, and hell you often can play without even paying that.

Let's put it this way: I'm not spending another cent on this game if this becomes a thing, which it most likely will.

Yeah, I agree this whole limitation on certain outfits is ridiculous. I mean I was planning to spend some money during this event anyway. I was only going to buy Ghostface’s tomb. But now they are forcing people to buy these limited outfits. I mean l didn’t want to spend more on outfits.

Some always will so you barely ever succeed, right as you may be. Same with pay to win features on other games. Vote with your wallet as the saying goes.

Long as the skins are available next Halloween seems alright to me.
1 -
Did you really believe them? The only reason they gave away all those skins (at least imo) was to ruin the code sellers business. They were selling some skins for ridiculous prices. For example, I remember the Street Meg cosmetic was about $70. Some other skins were even much more expensive.
1 -
you refuse to purchase skins because you don't want skins with a limited time, i refuse to purchase skins because i don't care about skins generally speaking. We are not the same

And please, support a product that disrespects their clients by implementing scummy tactics that take advantage of people's insecurities, support a company that lies to save their asses and to put themselves in a better light with its community.

I'm not getting half of the skins because I have military training on the 22nd of October and won't be back until the 14th of November.
Needless to say... I'm screwed. 🤡

It doesn't bother me but then I don't have a fear of missing out. I don't play Dwight or Jane enough to get much use out of these, so I have no desire to buy them. If they were skins for survivors I do play often then I'd buy them if I liked them, no different to what I do now. If I open my wallet it's by my choice.

Well, it's definitely more important, wish you luck on that btw! I went through Navy boot camp back in 2017 and then quit right after to pursue college. Not my proudest moment, especially from my parents, but I definitely don't regret it lol it wasn't for me.

I don't, I just point out that BHVR is often lying about stuff.

I don't mind the FOMO content really as long as it's worth it, and can also be purchased with shards, but seeing as they're making cosmetics purchasable by shards 4 weeks after their release IDK if we will see this. It seems like another attempt at a money grab. I get that they've lost alot of players, but then they just need to fix their game.
