Flashlights are nerfed
Comments

For 2 and 3... click spin literally does nothing vs good players and its not like you use the full flashlight for saves anyway.

why are you defending number 3? they made it seems like it would only nerf the BM clicking but now its harder and uses more battery to go for flashlight saves
2 -
Forcing flashlights to stay on for an extended period of time after turning them off is completely asinine.
Imagine forcing the Killer into a full lunge attack on every single attempt just because they pressed the button or tapped their mouse.
I'm all for fixing the strobing issue but this was not it.
Some things they do make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

You already get like 6 flashlight saves without addons on a yellow flashlight. This doesnt change much at all.

As much as I am enjoying bathing in the tears of flashlight macro and rapid clicky enjoyers, the extra battery usage is pretty lame.
4 -
Also last but not least; the new sound effect is very obnoxious.

Oh no
now it takes proper timing and skill

Now you know the pain of deathslinger mains

Bro I literally have seen people get 10+ flashlight blinds with just a yellow flashlight and duration. Literally doesn't change much other than maybe you get 2 less blinds.

For those unaware the flashlight angle is bugged. It is listed on the notes that they are trying to resolve it.
4 -
i mean he is not wrong, they nerfed flashlights for no reason. the only thing they had to do was change the visuals and sound lol

Eh, unlike old Dead Hard, flashlights have always taken some skill. This is evidenced by the fact that like 90% of flashlight save attempts fail in laughable, hilarious fashion. Like utter futility the overwhelming majority of the time, which is why they are rightly considered to be little more than weak noisemakers in the hands of most survs.
I think my most common utterance while playing killer is (while laughing) "that's not how flashlights work, friend".
And as surv I'm always shocked when one of my team successfully saves me with one. The only time a blind is easy is at a pallet, because the killer is not just animation locked, but directionally locked (and to a lesser degree at locker grabs). A good flashlight save in the open is by no means easy against even a decent killer.
I'm all for limiting the amount of clicks per second to 1-2, but after releasing the button it should turn off immediately.
My very amateur suspicion is that it was just easier to slow down the on/off process than to code in delay intervals.

i think an easy change would to make a flashlight overheat if abused, after 4-5 clicks in a short time it stops letting you turn it on for a while, because right now it feels bad
3 -
The aiming is definitely too low, they need to fix that.
Battery time should only be consumed while pressing the flashlight button, not while the flashlight animation is playing.
Otherwise it’s fine, I guess…
5 -
I only use Flashbangs and blastmine so i really don't care

Yes "strobing" is no longer a thing... but they can't fine tune it (coding issues)
But I didn't know about the "aim" of flashlights are off (again)
Nor did I know about the usage
Thanks for bringing it up

These changes are idiotic, but not surprising. A lot of players predicted that this would be an unnecessary nerf and they were 100% correct.

Yes I agree fix the flashlight battery usage the rest of the flashlight changes seem fine to me

It does help sometimes. Can we have some fun tools as survivor instead of boring M1 gen simulation?
3 -
Might be just me but I hardly find click spinning in anyway entertaining because in 9 times out of 10 its on a killer that is clearly not all there or just new.
2 -
Same! I'm enjoying all the extra salt for my fries, but the extended battery is very annoying.
0 -
They can't... nice try
They use blueprints which yes makes coding easier but makes adjusting it hard (or impossible)
Cause if they do try they will bring back "strobing" or "clicky- clicky"

Not really seeing any problems other than the bug with the aim which has already been addressed.

>They hold it like a samurai now
Excuse me? Seriously?

Wow that's uh
yeah.
Unnecessary change BHVR

It has always been like this, #########

Ok, but others do.

I mean I guess good for them that they style on players that are so bad that they fall for click spins.

Fluidity of movement and animations is pretty important. I feel like the game is just getting clunkier and clunkier. The aim for flashlights changing is crazy. I have all my timings in muscle memory. PICK/GRUNT/CLICK now i need to start a 1/2 a second earlier to adjust my aim. The timing for a fl save is in the range of milliseconds as you need to hit it right between the animation changes, or even a new killer can just spin around or look up.
I'm all for shaking things up, but it kinda seems like we are regressing as far as movement goes.
2 -
I can for sure agree that the delay to shut off needs to go now. That's no good
1 -
It is so glitched, it's not just about the angle.
Actually if you are a bit far, you can literally aim the beam at his **** and get a blind lol.
1 -
Doesn't matter. They still removed aspects to enjoy the game. Imagine they remove the aspects YOU enjoy. You would be upset aswell.
3 -
Bold of you to assume DBD players actually enjoy DBD
1 -
they killed item because certain survivors could not use the item without annoying the killer with clicking sound. this is one of those things that might been better to remove flashlight clicking sound. I do not think it would make much of difference considering that flashlight is generally used when the killer is locked in place such as pick up, pallet break, window vault, locker grab etc. the killer that are affected by lightburn could have unique effect alerting them that flashlight is being used to compensate sound removal.
the flashlight sound is there for realism but its just that survivor use it to be annoying. it does more harm then good. rip flashlight 2022.
3 -
Personally, I'm glad it's gone. The sound of the clicky-click always triggered my tinnitus and caused a lot of pain to me, so the fact they've removed the micro-clicking is a godsend.
1 -
I agree that flashlights need some adjustments and compensations in regard to the collateral nerf.
2 -
People are just ignoring the fact that BHVR said the angle is messed up and they are working on it. Let's keep pointing out all the bad about the changes and ignore the reasons it was changes which is absolutely more important then your flashlight timing and was 100% successful.
Sorry went off a little .
2 -
The only change I really cared to see was removing the ability for survivors to clicky clicky at killers (plus macro) as it was used entirely to annoy killers/BM.
1 -
I love these forum posts. 90% of the "Flashlight nerf" forum posts are those who like to clicky clicky every match and are upset they can't do that.
I understand the OP's concerns but heres the thing.
1 - complaining about different angle. Well learn the new angle. It really is that simple.
2 - Complaining they can't click to 360 - Not once has this ever worked against me and its such a rare thing to see anyway this will only effect a very small percentage of players
3 - complaints about flashlight battery use. yeah i get it. clicking the flashlight now consumes more battery but it means you will have to learn to use the flashlight for its intended purpose. To "attempt" a flashlight save. The battery usage is no different when getting a save as they haven't change that part so the only reason your battery will go down faster is if your clicking when unneeded (or your trying this 360 spin that don't work)
So yeah I'm a killer main btw and the one thing I hated about flashlights is the obnoxious clicking that survivors tend to do or the macroing 100 clicks a second.
This is a great change to the game and one that was needed for a long time. Survivors will have to actually learn the angles and get good at flashlight saves from now on.
P.S any killer mains out there just run franklins if there are 2+ flashlights. Trust me survivors HATE that XD
4 -
-"when you click you are forced to hold out your beam for a long time even after letting go of m2 meaning you can no longer use flashlights to help with 360s nor can you readjust your timing with a reclick."
Frame skipping is unfair when it makes your hitbox move in unusual ways. If the hitbox was actually fully on the survivor it might be different.
