Stuck In MMR Hell
I dont really know how to put this, but Im stuck in a situation that is VERY difficult to get out of.
I recently got a PC and swapped from PS4 to PC (leaving stuff behind obviously), as a result, getting a new account (through Steam) basically has me at bedrock MMR, paired with brand new players that just hide the entire game.
Most matches result in me completing 3-4 generators and dying on first hook by either getting face-camped for running the killer too well (therefore teammates do not try to save me out of fear) or my teammates would rather continue hiding instead of going for the save.
Im stuck in a situations where I do everything yet never escape, and my teammates do nothing and also never escape.
In this example, my only decent teammate was the Yui, they lasted pretty long in chase and did generators. My two other teammates hid for the entire match and both were producing constant noise notifications from having 3 AFK crows on them.
Also, I had spectated a match that lasted until the servers closed due to a prolonged time limit... 2 people were hiding from the start of the match FOR THE FULL MATCH TIMER (basically taking the game hostage for the killer as well).

you might have to adapt to your...meta, as much as I hate to say it. It's not realistic to carry entire teams like that so your only realistic option is to be a Jake and crouch with Iron Will as your friends around you suffer a grisly demise.

That's the thing, I dont want to, sitting in a single spot and hiding all game is boring.
I just want to be able to do stuff and feel like what I am doing is worth my time. What is the point in taking chase when nobody will do generators? What is the point in doing generators if people only last 10 seconds in chase? Why hide all game when there are better ways of playing, even if it is meaningless no matter what I do? No matter what I do, I dont win, I cant win.

Try swf. Dbd discord has people wanting to play pretty sure

I get very anxious when forced to communicate online, ya know, using my voice. Ive had issues with anxiety for a long time.

Sole survivor bruh. Gets you out the exit gate AND gets you the MMR still. Unfortunately DBD isn't a game where you carry a bad team. Even if you are the best looper in the lobby, the killer can just ignore you and tunnel your teammates to death before you can hold M1 long enough to win.
Not to mention the DCs and suicides while playing solo Q. I always run sole survivor or left behind unless I am specifically going for points or running a meme build. Anytime I enter a match without either of those perks I accept I will die in circumstances beyond my control in many cases
Sole survivor is nice because you don't have to announce you are a hatch rat with a key. You can just run a medkit and blend in as a regular survivor until the time to strike (aka stab your team in the back) arrives.
3 survivors alive. Someone is on the hook, another survivor is being chased, with 2-3 gens left? Whoops, I didn't make it to the hook in time and now they are both dead. My bad. I will stop doing it when it stops working

Yeah I get it. You might be able to find some who don't require you to talk to them, just playing. You'd be able to maintain the solo playstyle whilst not worrying that your teammates are completely new.

I do not have the Halloween DLC on this account, and Im going to wait a bit before forking over more money since I dont want my bank account to be put on hold.

Which server are you playing on ? If you on EU, you can add me and chill...i don't play with voice comm either even when playing with a friend.

Im NAE unfortunately.

Rank resets tomorrow. So in the chance for a fresh start; dodge lobbies.

Oh yeah you're screwed. You know how I got out? Play with a 3-man who already have a really high MMR. Otherwise bye bye, hope you enjoy the 90% killrate!

Ranks/Grades and MMR are too separate things. Ranks/Grades do not contribute to matchmaking, it's just a monthly incentive to play the game for Bloodpoints. MMR is what calculates who you are paired with/against.
1 -
I'm aware but I was under the impression that MMR resets along with the Rank each month.

MMR does not reset, the only time it ever has was when it was first introduced since they used MMR data from prior tests but wanted a clean slate to start on.

My best advice is to SWF out, even if you don't want to. Just find a group and play with them for a few weeks.

Oh. I feel silly. lol
Anyways, it seems like a SWF is the only reasonable way to get out of that situation, but yea.. definitely hard without comms. When I played survivor more often I would just add anyone that did well in games, eventually I had a silent swf. But even if you find one or two others to play with you're going to increase your escape chance a lot

I'll be glad to swf with you and not use comms. I work at a place I have to talk all day so I also have massive anxiety over voice chat with random people. I'm super average at the game but I try to do the objective.

Honestly the situation isn't much different right now playing in the mid or high MMR.
I've been playing in pub trials with really high prestige players on my team that clearly have a lot of hours playing the game and they are so entitled. They feel they don't have to work on gens because "It's boring"

Sole Survivor, Left Behind/clairvoyance
Learn how to open the gate just enough so the first red light doesn't light up
When you play solo queue the most important skill to learn is to see when you need to play for hatch
Don't start doing it from the start of the match ofcourse but if you are seeing that your team isn't going to make it you need to learn to change tactics
Every escape via hatch is mmr you didn't lose and don't have to gain again. Escaping through the gate when you are last alive still bumbs you up.
Once you are out of mmr hell you can play more normally again but if you want out you need to adjust to your situation

I feel you! Just ask the good people after the game if you can add them to your friends list and if they want to play together even without voice. It's better to play with known good people without communication then seeing everyone urban evade around while you die on the hook.

This is the problem with MMR being based around escape/death and literally nothing else. It rewards nothing aside from going through that exit gate. Doesn't matter if you have any skill whatsoever. If you walk through the gate, you go up. If you don't you go down. So to get better teammates, you have to literally do nothing but escape. As Sonzaishinai said: Sole Survivor, Wake Up. Let them all die and then leave.
Or just get friends and SWF with people that aren't on par with lemmings.

This picture has to be the best representation of SoloQ I have seen. I described literally this exact scene a few days ago.

I may be getting this wrong but isn't there cross progression you can activate. Surely if you activate cross progression then your MMR will also move over.
However if it isnt an option trust me survivors don't get any better mid/top MMR. I'm a killer main and i believe my MMR hit the soft cap or is close to it. I constantly see lobbies where you get 1 survivor who knows what their doing and 3 that just have no clue or don't want to play properly.

there is no cross progression between ps4 and pc

It's unfortunate, but this game is balanced around SWF - as that's the only way to be fair to killers.

This is really frustrating and I feel for you. I don't think the devs have ever confirmed whether MMR placement matches take place on fresh accounts, but it's completely asinine if they don't. As another poster said, DbD isn't a carry game on the survivor side unless the killer makes terrible decisions. But the matchmaker seems to think it is to some degree, and you often see 2 relatively skilled survivors and 2 relatively weak survivors in the same lobby which often ends in a 4k. It's really frustrating.

What about seeing 3 people on the same gen on the other end of the map when you're about to hit stage 2 on your hook?😂
Frustrating in a different sort of way, team just deciding to turn you into a sacrificial lamb. Somehow I ended up making it to the end of the game after Bill saved me (we could do the last gen).
They're both frustrating, in the first case cause you don't stand a chance to ever get those gens done and in the second cause you won't really get to play much. If they're SWF and they're buddy gets hooked while you're on hook as well you know they're getting prioritized.

I don't know how often you play, but if you play daily for a couple of weeks you might just climb enough to get at least more "normal" players

Cross-progression only exists between Stadia and PC due to the Stadia Closure (aka Stadia is being shut down, so BHVR is forced to let people care over their progress to another account).
Cross-progression could be in the works for all we know, we do not have much information in regards to it though.

I play a very carefree, altruistic playstyle as a solo surv, and this has caused me to become careless, die a lot, and slide into MMR hell a few times even at 1k+ hours.
Unfortunately the way out is to play selfishly. It's not fun (tedious, really) and it feels scummy, but the alternative is staying in MMR hell, unless you do SWF, which I don't do.
