Oh interesting, I thought a woodpecker would have a longer beak than that. The lady at the birb store recommended that I get a Suet Feeder because it's a good winter food for birbs and woodpeckers especially love them.

Yesterday I adopted a couple kitties.
They're 5 months old. Pretty nervous/shy so currently hanging out in the bathroom until they warm up enough to not just hide in corner somewhere. I was surprised I was able to get them out to play a little even though they still kept distance from me.

Names? Are they siblings I assume? First kitties for you or are you an experienced kitty haver?

They're brothers, Darryl and Dante - names given by rescue, I liked the names so kept them. Not my first kitties, I had family cat for 13 years and then my own kitty for 17 year - he passed away in 2019 and it took me awhile to be ready to have kitties of my own again.
When the foster said they were 5 months I was like "they are huge for 5 months!" but vet put them at being born in May. They're going to be big boys once they're fully grown. 😂
These guys have been available for adoption since July but no one wanted them until us. Guess kitties being shy is a no go for alot of people.

Will do. 😁 Dante (one on bottom) is a bit smaller than Darryl, and way more shy. Foster said he had upper respiratory infection so wasn't eating much when he wasn't feeling well - also why he's more shy. Curious to see if he gets a growth spurt to catch up or if he'll always be little bit smaller.

The one thing I regret is not getting Roo (Holly's kitten) when I had the chance. So much easier to have two cats if they're already bonded rather than trying to introduce a second cat later on.

My last cat I got him when I was 14, my mom used my Dad as excuse to not get his brother and my Dad was like "if you'll take care of them go for it." Supposedly the kitten got adopted after I took home my kitty but I'm pretty sure my Mom was one that didn't want 2 cats. My cat was pretty happy though getting all my attention and I'm pretty sure having 1 cat made it easier for me to get an apartment after college.
My kitties are coming out to play a bit, seem like they're warming up to me already.

I'm... pretty confident that Holly is a happy single kitty but I'm always going to question that. I may still end up getting a 2nd based on everything I've read that says they're social animals and do better with another cat (especially as I'm returning to office two to three days a week).
If you just talked to me Holly, this would be way easier! I won't tell anyone you can talk, I promise!!! Just a Yes or No, do you want a second cat?

I was on the other end. They're definitely opening up and much faster than I expected based on the way the rescue talked about them. They still have a ways to go before they get run of the house but they've already made quite a bit of progress in 2 days.

Oh no! I have a new super adorable picture of Holly but now I'm having a crisis of posting...
Do I post it in here where the population is much lower so she doesn't get the eyeballs she deserves or do I wait for a BP code thread like I used to where she'll burn brighter but faster as those threads get way more eyes on them but rarely last more than one day...

Hey, my mum's chocolate lab had an unhealthy obsession with socks too!!!
...at least until they had to pay $2,000 to get his stomach pumped when he ate one of them 😅
Though that's....probably?...not an issue for a cat.

also my Chinchillas have an unhealthy obsession with socks as well, at least specific one. Recently started nibbling on mine.
