Google Stadia is shutting down on 1/18/23.
At that point there will literally be no way to play DbD on Linux unless BHVR decides to support Steam Deck through Proton.

+1 This needs to come. The SDK takes less than 30min to implement from the normal implementation of the previous version.

According to the KDE devs, valve has shipped over a million units, that's a lot of potential DBD players. And the backorder queue will be empty this week or next week. Sales are only gonna increase when you can have one shipping within a few days of ordering.

In all seriousness, Stadia was the only platform with real cross-progression with Steam. Stadia was the only platform that runs on Linux. With Stadia going, so goes everything I put into DbD unless you kindly update EAC to work with Proton on Steam.
Please do so so I don't lose everything I've done.

I once read a comment about the reason as to why BHVR has not emphasized allowing DBD on the steam deck and in all honesty I think they might have been right.
It all comes down to money. Think about it. People that own the game on steam will not need to purchase it for the Steam Deck thus not generating any new income for the company.
Its sad but I legit think this is their way of thinking. How can they make more money instead of, how can they allow people to play and have better gaming experiences.
Its not like there's not already tons of cheaters in the game already for them to be so worried and not do anything about EAC for Linux.

if that's true then that's very sad, given the popularity of both DbD and the Steam Deck. a million units sold, just launched in Japan. ppl who can't play won't spend money when they otherwise would have, when the update is reasonably simple to make. it should take them a weekend, a week at most, and i'm being very generous to their time.

I got my steam deck recently and ive just stopped playing dbd at this point. Not being able to play in the console of my choice is just disappointing. Its been ONE YEAR. let that sink in.
Been playing other games like Apex who fixed their EAC right of the gate and it works amazing on it. Even overwatch 2 works without the need for Windows, granted, with some minor fidgeting.

I have to stay with 2 operating systems windows and steam OS, and why? I keep windows on steam deck just so I can play dead by daylight, PLEASE BHVR do it..

Just for the money comment. I will never have windows on a machine in my household again. That's 4 customers you're losing. I will not buy another product and certainly no DLC from this company until this is fixed.
The SDK exists. It would take minimal effort, heck you can hire me for a day and I'll implement it into the code.

Same. I've decided to not spend any money on cosmetics or dlcs anymore, if I cant play a game in a console of MY choice.
It's sad we just get with statements like "we are working on it indefinitely or no estimated time for release". NO TIMEFRAME? . When you have no release date for something, it just means it will be sitting in a backburner with no intention of working on it.
How long as it been since these were announced and nothing has been spoken of?

I still put money into the game because I love it, I have 5500h, I have to stay with windows on the steam deck at home, I can play dead by daylight, please BHVR, give us support for the steam deck..I would love to be able to play it on steam deck without windows

I'm happy to bump this. I think DBD in bed or on the go could be fun. (DBD mobile stinky, no Deathslinger.) My deck is awesome but the game I've been playing a lot lately isn't on it so I don't use the thing.

I installed Windows just to test dbd on the steam deck. The experience is very unpleasant specially when trying to play docked on the TV. Audio running through the deck and not the TV. Image losing quality and frames.
If this was my first time playing the game I would have gotten such a bad first impression cause its a pain in the butt.
1 million steam decks sold would create a profit if 100k of those became new dbd players buying rifts skins etc. Take a page from skyrim theres a reason why that game is still selling well

Guys, you need to calm down. As I said before, the DbD devs actually enabled the game for the Deck it just doesn't work because of a bug in Easyanticheat, which needs to be fixed by Epic. As soon as that's fixed, you can play the game, but you need to still be a bit patient.

Does it actually though? I want to get a Steam Deck mainly for DBD on the go (it runs too horrible on Switch). Can anyone else confirm DBD runs bad with Windows on the Steam Deck please? Don't want to just throw away £450.

IF there was such a bug then NO program would work. So that's not it. The SDK has been released. Where is the bug? List it?

Dbd through Windows on the Steam Deck, if you're planning on just doing handheld is OK as it runs 720p 60fps more or less.
Problem comes when trying to dock it and play on your TV etc. Its too glitchy.
Windows doesn't feel as superior at all compared to when you run games on steam OS. Its an alternative but it should not be the primary way of playing dbd on the deck. Its underwelming.
SteamDeck is VERY solid and is worth every penny. You will love it.
Updates for the status of dbd on steam OS would help us know if they are actively looking into it. I wonder how Apex Legends got their EAC working quite soon though.

Yeah i won't be using it on TV, my main account is on my PS5 so it would be primarly handheld for me. I think it would just be cool to have DBD on the go, playing during breaks, on the train etc. Aslong as it runs SMOOTH unlike the Switch, i will be happy to buy it and install Windows on an SD card until BHVR have sorted it out.

The Linux module of EAC crashes, when DbD loads EAC. You can see that when the game is loading, it will hard hang / crash.

That doesn't mean that there's an eac bug. Other developers haven't struggled this badly to add support.

Fallguys doesn't even use legacy EAC but uses EOS EAC and Apex uses a different kind of apiset....

So what you're saying is 'switch to using EOS, please behavior'. If so, other developers have done the same thing much quicker in exactly the same time period.

There's no bug, the game fails to get EAC proton binaries meaning that devs haven't turned on proton support.

What's sad is that there has been no official update about this situation on their website or social media. Where's the communication?
Like can they actually tell us exactly what is the issue, intention to work on it and timeframe?
Saying something will come and just forgetting about it or making no mention for months or years is just disappointing.

Well, with the removal of the game from Stadia in 2023, I will no longer be able to play this game, due to EAC not being enabled, and all alternative options being removed. I will not dual boot just to play DBD.
