Please Change Back Flashlights
I get why you changed them but instead of making them 10x harder to use you could of simply changed the sound and visuals.
You killed an already weak item.

If it's done so that some players can actually play the game, I'm all for it. They just need to adjust flashlight aiming and it's really the same thing as before if you used it to blind the killer.

The aiming is a bug.

Thank goooodddnessss. That aiming was booboo juice.
1 -
if that was the only reason they would of just change the visuals and sound design.
they could of changed just those 2 things and kept everything else the same and it would of been perfect for everybody

Except they also got rid of all of the unintentional uses of flashlights that exploited ingame issues, like clicking to "warp" turning animations and the notorious clicky clicky. They did change the sound design and its one of the things that gets complained about constantly, and you can only do so much with the raw concept of luminosity.
The only people who miss anything about it (other than the currently bugged aiming, which has been bugged a dozen or so times in the past as well) are the ones who wanted to exploit it and had their exploits closed. sorry not sorry.

I don't care about the spinning thing that's whatever. but how clunky they feel is not OK.

Im sure you agree that Deathslinger's nerfs should be reverted then, right?
Edit: Actually, Billy's as well? His "clunkiness" was introduced before he even got reworked, and they decided to make him even more disorientating afterwards.

yes lol, I've talked about deathslinger many times. don't be trying to pull that crap in an argument
3 -
It's not "pulling crap," its trying to find consistency in an argument, and thus, common ground.

so you agree then? but then again apparently not "sorry not sorry" with the flashlight clunk

Not sure what's going on with aiming flashlights right now, it's just weird. But fix that and then maybe add an extra 2s of battery to every flashlight and really it should be fine. They are also removing some exploits which I think is perfectly fine. Other exploits are getting fixed as well, so why should this be any different?

They can remove exploits without making them feel clunky

How exactly would you fix it? I'm not sure simply removing the light and sound effect of flashlights would be a good idea. It would look stupid as hell for one and otherwise you'd need to think about what you want a flashlight to do while these effects don't occur. You shouldn't be able to blind the killer with an invisible light at least. Holding a flashlight until the light comes back would be just as stupid.

first of all I never said anything about removing light and sound. Change was my word of choice.
Changing how bright the light is for one. Delay the light beam by even a couple of milliseconds so clicking fast wont cause a light stream (should help with people who cant handle strobe effect) or better yet put these in accessibility settings.
making it so doing 3-4 clicks in a row overheats (similar to hillbilly) the flashlight for 10-15 seconds or even 20 seconds if you really want to punish it (punishing's for clicking)

The aiming got worse this patch but that has been a problem since before the patch.
it only effected male survivor before tho for some reason

They only need to fix the delay to shut off the flashlight. That's no good, otherwise no

while i dont think that is all they should change. that part uses up a ton of battery

Sorry, my bad. You're right. I should have read again.
I don't exactly know how sensitive these things are or how exactly you would need to change it so that it wouldn't be a problem anymore. But I know that what they added is very safe. I'm not even sure how much the brightness of a flashlight contributes to the issue. It's more about the strobing and contrast than the color and brightness, right? Although there might be differences depending on the individual as well. So we would need to change that to a point where you almost can't see the light anymore, wouldn't we? I might be wrong about that (pls tell me if I am) but this would need quite a bit of fine tuning so that the light doesn't become invisible but also can't cause seizures.

epileptic seizures in the case of DBD context would be the flashing of lights. (i say "in the case of..." because flashing lights is not the only reason outside of DBD)
I think that's why they had to change Sadako because her "flashing in and out" was so frequent that it potential gave off the same effect.
so by delaying the flashlight light beam by even a couple of milliseconds. it would make the spam clicks not give off a beam so no strobing.
by decreasing the brightness it would make the strobing effect even less likely to cause harm if someone it was activated (cheats maybe)
Doctor is another thing that could be looked at but they could put these options in accessibility to give people who don't need them the full experience. (though it might be harder because color blind modes are more of a filter from what I can tell)
I also think they need to change to pulsing that being blinded/Blast mine has. I think in general that's a crappy feeling.

Thanks for the info. If it really is as simple as simple as delaying the light by just a few milliseconds, then obviously I am not too against your suggested changes. However, I do trust BHVR on this one to work out the safest and (hopefully) most unimpactful change to the game there is.

ill probably get used to it if BHVR truly needs to keep it this way. just a shame

I want them back the way they were and I’m a killer main
1 -
not a wraith main thats for sure lol

I see no problem with the current flashlight changes (the sighting bug should be fixed).
However, I am a bit interested in this chainsaw overheat system idea.
In other words, the idea that if the flashlight had an overheat gauge like the chainsaw does?
How about a 40% overheat gauge for each use and a 2% gauge accumulation for each second of use time?
Like the chainsaw, as long as you keep using it, you can continue to use it even when it reaches 100%.
It can be used twice for a save, thus addressing the creme de la creme about timing.
We can deal with claimers who say that the fun they were using to greet the survivor has been taken away from them, as clicking will be possible 3 times.
But another issue of 3 clickables for BM.

No i can agree to disagree, I was just asserting that you were willing to make the same concession elsewhere.
Edit: like this:
They can remove exploits without making them feel clunky
Is something I absolutely agree with. I just do not personally think the flashlights are anywhere near as clunky as you do I suppose.

I use flashlights to blind the killer and they do their job. I click, I blind, turn off and move on. I don't know what can you find "clunky" about this except the aim which is a known issue that will be fixed eventually.

flaghlights felt fluid, but once again devs felt the need to restrict the game even more for survivors. because indeed we' cant have nice things in a "high competitive" (mfao) where everything needs to get restricted one way or the other. this flaghlight change is another example of their incompetence to make the game responsive and not clunky. a million ways to make it still fun to use but instead they choose the easiest and also the worst option. don't you guys see it, they keep restricting gameplay more and more... so many changes are made becaues of "balance" or "misbehavior". it's sad the game feels like its overregulating things. restricting more and more.
