Why are stealth killers so loud?

Like, how are you supposed to be stealthy when your character has loud ambient noises associated with them, or using their power makes a very loud distinctive sound to telegraph it to the survivors.

Myers is super loud with his breathing, and any time you make a milestone with your stalk it makes a loud noise notifying all survivors that they're playing against Myers even if they're the most brain dead unobservant survivor. It'd make more sense if it was played when he swings his knife or moris in tier 3, or just his chase music while in tier 3.

Ghostface has the super loud cloth flapping noises with his outfit and it has a long trailing cloth that makes him easier to notice when he's trying to mind game or move around unnoticed.

Pig's ambush has a very loud verbal cue that announces very loudly that "I am about to attack, you should probably start holding W now." Her sneaking speed is so slow you can't even use it very effectively for actually getting around unnoticed. Her presence is also spoiled by the placement of Jigsaw boxes even before she's even put a trap on someone.

Sadako has a very loud distinct noise made when attacking or using her power, with no chance of it being mistaken as a sound coming from one of the TVs. This means any time she teleports, gets stunned, attacks, etc. she makes a very loud distinct noise that survivors can easily tell what Sadako's doing.

Wraith has a very loud woosh sound associated with using his power, beyond that of the very LOUD AND NOTICEABLE bell ringing. Again, these sounds are very distinct, so there's no chance that they can be mistaken for anything other than Wraith using his power.

to make them fair? Or you want to always have guaranteed hit or even grab all the time? Sneaking on survivor is not that hard especially if you go for a generator that is in some loop and does not allow survivor to see beyond 4m distance. That would not be fun to play. That would be free hit/grab.

Also especially meyers would become way too OP with certain iri addons

Isn't it because of the frustration of being stealth?

If you get a free first hit without chasing, a large segment of survivors will say, "That's not fair!"

What's even the point of having stealth if you can't get the drop on survivors?

Considering that most of the mentioned killers are exceptionally weak outside of very specific perk and addon combination, I think it's fair. An aware survivor won't get surprised even without sound cues, and an unaware survivor likely will be able to avoid being grabbed due to how lag compensation works with the grabs.

...because "stealth" in dbd does not mean being unnoticeable but simply that there is no terror radius.

Outside of Sadako, the main sound ques stealth killers have are really only heard when they are around striking range anyways. Stealth killers still have advantages on getting close to survivors without alerting them compared to killers who don't have any stealth abilities.

I mean it's unlikely you do get the drop on survivors even with a killer, and if the survivors are any decent I mean look at this video. Dredge isn't a stealth killer, but even then he struggles to actually get any hooks.

Stealth killers can still camp, because they avoid aura reading with undetectable.

But what you are outlining is a different issue imo.

not really. the stealth killers are some of the worst hook defending killers in the game. they're super easy to bodyblock and their major weakness is health-states. med-kits are hard counter to stealth killers. that is why stealth killer used to run anti-heal builds so that they could keep survivors injured, unfortunately one of the perks got some negative changes and sloppy butcher is not enough to keep survivors injured. there are no perks that stealth killers can reliable use to instant down to make plays with stealth. as otz states in the video, a lot of dbd gameplay trends on requiring brute-force anti-loop and stealth killer is like polar opposite of brute force anti-loop.

personally for dredge, I use stbfl on him because he has weak lethality options. Given his gameplay where he was slugging with dredge, he would had permanent 8 stacks with all the slugging he had to do. Surge in that game was doing nothing for him because all gens were completed. I am not even sure if third seal was doing anything either because it was likely a swf and blindness has zero impact for swf's. they were getting up very efficiently.
