Nurse Nerf When?
Maybe looking at the title could create a bit of controversy over nurse defenders and others, but to point it out:
Nurse is not the hardest killer anymore. (Hillbilly is IMO)
Only counterplay to her is when she makes a mistake.
Blink Attacks counting as Basic Attacks is BS. (because of perks that apply exposed and other things, for example: "Jolt" "Sloppy Butcher")
She is still S-tier for past 6 years. (I actually don't bother that)
I don't know if it's true but she's the second most picked killer in the game. (behind huntress)
If BHVR could take a notice at this (probably won't), maybe she would be balanced out, if there were some proper suggestions for her changes.
What are your thoughts?

So it begins

I still think they should just gut her and then see what might happen when you remove the highest potential from one side but never touch it on the other.
1 -
I guess that would be same as usuall as the feedback from 6.1.0 perk reworks. Some people would be greatful for it and other half would be melting about it and probably leave the game.

When pigs fly.

What i mean is, if they nerf nurse aka the killer with the highest potential but leave swf alone, the survivor tool for the highest potential, (which we will probably never see), then i am curious to see how the community might explode again.
And if the devs then would manage to balance for that and if it would be fast enough or be a glacial pace like Mori/nerf mistimed changes.
5 -
According to the data she is fine.
Sarcastic i know. But let me ask you a real question then.
Do you think the game should be balanced around top level players, or the average player?
5 -
Not soon enough. Which was way before killer buff. Too late I'm over it is how I will feel when nurse is being looked at because by the time that happens there will be a slew of other things that have been left unchecked and overused in matches disregarded by bhvr because there was a DC in the match and/or still no consistent way for the community to relay it's feedback about said issues.

Top. Doesnt have to be the very top but still high.
If people arent doing gens, mess about and cant do great chases why should they win?
Issue is we usually balance for casual survivors not casual killers, any slight change made to help casual killers gets instantly shut down by the majority. It's why weak killers are left weak, killers like billy, slinger, freddy, wraith... did they need to be nerfed so much? No.
4 -
We all know the answer here: remove double range, double recharge and make blink attacks special attacks and she will be fine. Sure in the hands of the few who are genuinely good with her she is still going to be the top killer but at least we can remove the utter BS aspects of her.
4 -
I agree, but i want to know what OP thinks.
1 -
Both, but I think it should be leaning a bit on casual side, because from looking at that the majority of players, (which are the casual players) going against a strong killer that just destroy them, they just don't want to play. They give up or just DC and it hurts me to look at it.
I'm not insanely a comp player, but a skilled one, who just wants to play the game and still win.
0 -
Ok, if it leans casual side. Then the data is clear.
Nurse is by far the worst killer in the game in the hands of the average player. If we balance the game around the average player. We need to buff her.
If you want to balance based around the highest level players, then SWF needs to be dealt with and basically every other killer needs a buff.
4 -
Good suggestion ^^ This would make nurse more balanced imo. Imo nurse isn't OP in the hands of most players, she has an extremely high skill ceiling. I consider myself an average to good killer. Not amazing but definitely competent. I can't use nurse for #########, against a pubby team of bad players I'll get a 4k. But any team with decent players i have no chance. I only ever use her if I'm forced to by a daily ritual/rift challenge.
Being on console makes her harder to use and i struggle to hit blinks. But someone who is good with nurse can utterly shred a team. And counterplay options are limited.
Much as I'd love to see her nerfed. I don't think she's as big an issue as people say. I hardly ever see nurses, and 60% of the ones I do see are pretty bad. And the good nurses feel impossible to play against but that doesn't happen enough to cause me major issues with the game.
1 -
Do you not see the contradiction in what you just said? You’re a casual but skilled and want to win. You can’t have it both way. If skill is what you care about, the game needs to be balanced around sweaty players. If you’re just casual, losing shouldn’t matter.
1 -
And this is the problem about balancing the game for those two roles. In one day you feel like casual and play chill, but in other day you will feel more competitive. That's why most of the games are only one-role specified, but dbd isn't, since bhvr did BT Basekit for casual players to make them relieved and still dbd is doing tournaments, like bhvr can't decide: is dbd casual or comp game? It still conflicts between itself.

Inb4 someone tries to find a pig launch glitch for a joke

To be fair losing would matter to casuals if the game didn't last that long and basically meant you were searching longer than the found match lasted

Never

I could into detail like always why her Blink isn't absolute, or how making her guess is alot stronger as many think....but always those who are so adamant about gutting her (not nerfing) will ignore them and continue to argue for gutting her like Freddy.
But to making all her blinks special I partly agree, I think any blink after the first should be a special keeping the first blink normal. In my games against her it's not the first blink that hits me but the second or third. That way it will allow her to get 1 starstruck down but not chain into a full slugging
1 -
That sounds like a good Pig buff.

Behaviour when are you adding this? I need flying pig now dang it! >:c
1 -
I love how the data means nothing and kill rates don't matter until they suddenly support your narrative.
2 -
I know I think it's really funny.

Like it's not specific to this thread I've noticed it for ages but that's just a funny little observation I like

I know lol. I noticed it too

This was my first match of the day last night, a Starstruck Nurse. She was also the only Nurse of the night... Although this clearly wasn't Supaalf playing and they didn't choose certain addons I still didn't find much difficulty with the slowdown or the other perks/gameplay besides Starstruck. She got ran as normal and she punished bad reads. We happened to play on a Survivor sided map and were efficient at rotating on gens. 3 man out as 2 solos and 1 (more than likely) duo
I'd bet my money on the odds that these are the way more common Nurse matches people see instead of the Shelter Woods 5 gen slaughterhouse. I'm not gonna suggest that just because it isn't as common that means it doesn't matter, however I'm just curious as to how many matches against Nurse are actually THOSE types of matches or just a basic winnable match like my screenshot where the Survivors threw the game themselves by their own choices or perhaps bad RNG
I believe if they make the 2nd Nurse Blink count as an M2 and reworked all of the strong/meme addons then she'll be fine. As of now it makes no sense for her to be straight up gutted or nerfed when you still have SWF remaining untouched and Solos also not being shown love with a QoL patch. How about lets take one things at a time and stop creating a thousand cuts to cover with band-aids

Here we go again with the 4,328th thread asking "When will they nerf Nurse" with the same, nonsensical suggestions.
2 -
She never was the hardest killer.
2 -
shes got the lowest kill rate in the game. she needs some buffs.
5 -
I mean, Nurse literally has a higher potential than the highest SWF at the moment. SWF is fine as it is, Nurse isnt.
Nurse is preventing buffs to killer. Buffing killers in general by 5% is like buffing Nurse by 20%. You need to nerf Nurse to buff killers.
0 -
No one complaining about nurse is playing on console.
0 -
Same goes for SoloQ...you can't buff survivors without buffing SWFs at the same time.
3 -
Nurse doesn't need a rework she just needs a skill ceiling, she doesn't play the same game as any other killer. Lore wise, the entity will make her to asphyxiate for destroying the survivor's hope, causing a few effects that last while survivors are on the ground and for a few seconds afterwards:
For every slugged survivor, decrease her base movement speed, blink recharge speed, and effective FOV to decrease snowball potential. -Movement speed makes it harder to position herself before blinking
-blink recharge speed should be noticeably slower at 2 people on the ground, maybe 15% at 2, 30% at 3, and (until the unbreakable-basekit update) 50% slower at 4 people to allow for clutch recoveries
-instead of actually lowering her FOV you add a gradient overlay to the screen (like what survivors get when infected by Plague, Nemesis, Wesker, etc.) that takes up more of the screen the more survivors who are slugged, and (VERY slightly) decrease vision brightness. At 2 or more survivors, she looses all aura reading.

First off thank you for actually inviting a reasonable debate rather than going off on a tangent.
Personally I see no problem with nurse. I feel like she's in a good spot - almost a killer I would determine balance from. She's easy to learn, but has a VERY HIGH skill ceiling. That being said, it's easy to see which way the nurse is going to blink if you can see her. This opens her up to counter play even without looping.
A great nurse player either avoids blinking when you can see them or they predict your countermove. I find people who lose to nurse more times than not panic when she blinks.
Overall I enjoy playing against nurse since it's a game of skill between survivors and a nurse. A bad nurse player will get run over, but a good one will give you a challenge worth playing for.

Idk I play both but obviously lean towards console because no cross progression and my friends. There’s only a select few that play with crossplay-off, the majority do pubs with crossplay-on so as far as I’m concerned that’s an excuse. On PC theres multiple historical advantages and cheating not to mention that (some not all) PC players are using a gamepad anyway instead of their MKB
If a person on PC Gamepad or MKB still can’t ever beat a pub Nurse that says more about them than the Nurse’s balance. The good Nurses I’ve played still get gens popped against them in pubs which is what the majority plays, RNG has more to do with it than Nurse. Bad teammates and looping have to do with it more than Nurse
She can use an addon rework and an expose Blink rework, she doesn’t need to be gutted entirely. SWF hasn’t ever been given a direct nerf why? Because they don’t want to disturb the majority just because of the top 1% so the Nurse shouldn’t be any different
1 -
There is only one appropriate nerf item for her.
While she's charging Blink, she'll no longer be able to see Survivor's aura that she was able to see due to one of her perks.
The countermeasure against her is hiding, but any perk that allows you to see auras ruins everything.
0 -
I think I would see her having all blinks special attacks, since really good nurse players with some busted perks on her could take a bit of advantage, but looking at average, maybe I am wrong.
Sorry to tell you that, but cry about it.
I forgot about that, she was never the hardest killer.
You're welcome and yeah, I see no problem in Nurse either, but few small tweaks on her and she would be fine.
Could be a good one, since you're right, while hiding, she has a harder time to outpredict you, but with aura perks like you said, it ruins everything.

The official kill rates don´t agree with you.
2 -
I know.
1 -
Totally agree.
Nurse was my main killer (though I prefer not playing killer these days) and most survivors are clueless against her in my experience. But when you do face that minority of skilled survivors things get a whole lot tougher when playing Nurse. Average Nurse players get destroyed by decent survivors and I see it all the time myself.
Last two Nurses I faced DC'd and neither of them could down me, one did not even get a single hit on me. If you know how to counter her from experience you will probably have fun versing her. But that 1% of top Nurses are tough ngl but as you say they are so rare I just cant see a problem with her base kit being so strong, since so few can actually use it extremely well
1 -
Only reason I said leave one as basic is because she is slower than Survivors without bloodlust. I have never seen a Nurse land a basic attack unless a survivor was getting cocky and running around her to body block...
0 -
Okay I see it now, I was on rampage of gutting the Nurse then since of another perk getting gutted because of Nurse. I was completely blind about it, how it would go in practice.
I don't even know if BHVR is able to code it specifically, but I think it is.
0 -
Would be interesting if bhvr did that to see if people will still play nurse because they think she's actully fun or stop due to only playing the strongest killer.
0 -
Well for me the interesting part is to see how the community will take it when the bast and sometimes only killer that is able to keep up with swf is gutted but said swf has never been touched since the release of the game.
Of course i know why they can't do anything against "friends that want to play together" while swiping the advantages that come with it and don't get compensated or balanced for under the rug.
2 -
I would probably play her more tbh, I send myself to Lery's with the matchbox addon so I only have 1 blink just so survivors don't just give up the second they hear a blink, plus I enjoy the challenge.
That being said, Nurse can be incredibly frustrating to play at times though with her being completely recoded it has made her a lot less frustrating, plus it made her accessible to a lot more people as she is easier to play than she was.
I almost feel bad playing her now and it puts me off as I still want my opponents to also be having fun too so we can have a good match that people don't quit or DC on - though I rarely get DC's as I never tunnel or camp hooks but I do get a lot just giving up early on.
If Nurse was nerfed I feel I would definitely play her more
0 -
Sorry made a mistake
0 -
Nah bro, nurse sucks she is the only killer that moves slower than survs cmon. We have seen this thread a million times and she is not getting nerfed in all seriousness.
1 -
I think you are joking...
0 -
You must be the only one :3 it's only nurses with blink addons around.
Do you think the other people beside you would play nurse if she got gutted? the shock to not stomp solo teams would be too much for many i would believe.
come to think of it, when the killer buff patch came there was a match with a nurse who said at endgame chat that he wanted to see how easy it was lol xd
0 -
Other than her attacks counting as m2s, no other nerf is needed she is actually fun to play against now that ranged add-ons are fixed, maybe remove the purple range add-on or make range addons not stack
