Insidious needs to be completely removed or reworked
Like how is it that there has been zero changes to this perk even though it 100% encourages camping. Slap it on a leatherface and you have the WORST player experience in the game.
Its outdated, and boring to play against.

This is going to sound weird, but Insidious is a really good chase perk. Just pretend to leave but never really leave and when they leave the area, you catch them in a deadzone and get a free hit. Is it gimmicky? Yes, but it can still work.
Despite this, I still feel like Insidious needs a change, since it's effect, outside of what I just mentioned, only really supports camping and meme strategies.

"Boring."

In almost 2500 hours I have never gone against a killer who actually attempted to mindgame me with insidious in that manner. I had a myers sit in the exit gate once and tombstone me but that's it.
Just rework it.

I use it when at a Gen when I know the Survivor is somewhere nearby while using whispers so I hide somewhere and go silent mode with my Demo Puppy. But other than that it's only a meme level perk that does need changed to be used AWAY from the hook

Reworked Insidious: After staying still for 9/8/7s the killer is teleported to a shadowy corner within 24/20/16m of a random survivor without direct LOS to said survivor. Until the killer moves and for 3s afterwards they gain the Undetectable status. The perk has a 2min cooldown and ceases functioning once the 5th gen is repaired.

I've done it as Doctor.
You pretend to be a clone and wait for them to hop on a gen, then go for a grab. Since Doctor has both a big Terror Radius and an excuse for a lookalike to just be standing around, people generally don't expect it.
Well, that and who the heck runs Insidious besides camping Bubbas?
4 -
I use it as twins to fake controlling victor for gen grabs after a kick

my idea for an insidious rework is stand still for 3 seconds, become undetectable for 20 seconds, then it goes on cooldown for 30 seconds. then its a weird gimmick stealth perk, instead of bubbas favourite perk
1 -
Insidious bubba is probably the most fun games i ever get as survivor.
Dedication to your true nature.

Insidious eh? How often do you see a killer use insidious? It's really good on one killer out of 28 others on the roster. Don't think it needs a change.

I remember getting jump scared once by a bubba just standing in the middle of the house on Ormond. It was fun and unexpected. Trying out some insidious around generators can be fun but you have to be ok with gens being completed in some other part of the map while you set your traps. It has to be gameplay based around role-playing rather than blood points or victory.

Oh my gosh, I never even thought of pretending to be an illusion doc, that's amazing, I have to try that, lol
3 -
I had that in one game ^^. Doctor hooked someone and just stood beside it with Insidious. It looked suspicious to me, but I couldn't really tell why. When the clone moved all out of a sudden, I knew what was wrong xD.

Trolling Cannibals like me.
You chase. You hook them in the basement. You flicker Insidious to their face and then leave to let your Monsterous Shrine do the work while having fun with another player. It is really funny.
Also during a chase as Cannibal it is quit interesting. People panic quit a lot and you can use your Insidious to wait around the corner, they run into you, you chainsaw them and scare the living ######### out of a survivor.
This is such a genius idea...
Sorry, but I just have to copy this and try it for myself while hoping I never play against you doing that.

I'd rather it not be usable in the basement personally as this is where I see it being used most often. Normally by Bubbas and other one hit downers.

Point to me where I said "the perk is fine how it is". I literally said it needs to be changed.
I explain how things can find use. But just because they can find use does not mean I dont want them to be reworked. You are imagining that I am saying something when Im not at that point.
0 -
That sounds interesting.
That s so genius.
I used it once as Tombstone Myers to get people without them hopping into lockers.
2 -
What about making it a hex perk which grants no terror radius until broken?
0 -
My idea to rework insidious:
On hooking a survivor, gain the insidious buff for 60 seconds. This buff reduces your terror radius the farther you are from any hooked survivor:
No effect until 8m from a hook, then reduces your terror radius by 6m for every additional 4m from the hook. So once you are 28m from the hooked survivor, you have -30m terror radius, basically undetectable to jump scare the next survivor.
Deletes the hook/proxy camping aspect and gives a big boost to the next chase. Numbers can be tweaked, but the idea is there.

I think it should be reworked into something like this:
- After a survivor gets unhooked, gain the Undetectable Status Effect for 7/9/11 seconds.
Might not seem particularly strong but discourages camping and rewards gettting many hooks (aka playing well (most of the time).
And to be fair, Insidious usually doesn't give you any value and is a waste of a perk slot (unless you are trolling/ trying to get in a video, etc.).

That is diabolical.

"People like you always come to threads about bad Perks and give examples of situations that are either unlikely to work, unlikely to actually help you, or better done with another Perk. Just because it "can" work does not make the Perk fine how it is."
Then what is the entire point in replying then? I literally said it needed to be changed, so why say something like this to begin with, it quite literally would just add nothing to the conversation that isnt already said.

Feel free to steal it! I don't have a monopoly on Insidious Doctor.
When you use it, make sure to keep in mind that only Survivors with at least Tier 2 Madness see the illusions, so ideally you want the Survivor who you try to trick to be Tier 2.
Although I doubt the average player will guess you're Insidious camping, it's still best to use it after you're a bit into the game, and not like right off the bat.
Thank you!
I think everyone, imcluding Iron Cutlass, is with you on this one tho, just because Insidious *can* be used as is doesn't mean it shouldn't be reworked.

Should be basekit! But if close to hooked survivor now the survivors see killers aura.
0 -
Could it possibly work the same as faking controlling victor as the twins?
1 -
Thats.. literally hex: plaything
1 -
I've played Insidious camping legion before (encourage hook bombs, then vanish and insidious so I can hit multiple frenzy hits. This was before his rework)
0 -
not really. Theres a difference between granting a killer undetectable and the survivors having oblivious
0 -
It's definitely possible, but a bit harder.
Charlotte has a unique 'sleeping' animation when you control Victor that is different from her idle just standing around animation, but Twins are so rare you could probably trick people who don't know about that.
0 -
No he didnt say undetectable, he said that the killer has no terror radius
He did not specify that it would hide red stain too
0 -
I thought they saw like a small amount of illusion docs at tier 1 though
0 -
I don't believe so; I even faced a Doctor just recently and never encountered any Tier 1 illusions.
But I could be wrong.
