Please never design challenges like this again.
Not only do you have to stun the killer, you have to get away and deposit the energy in the rift. If you get downed, you lose the energy. If you're at cap in that match and stun the killer after, it doesn't contribute to the challenge either.
This means that you actually want to avoid doing gens, because doing gens will bring you to cap, which means you can't deposit any energy you get from stunning the killer. Also, as far as I can tell, you get no void energy from perks like Head On or Decisive Strike, yet the challenge doesn't indicate that at all. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about this one.
EDIT: I've been informed it's not the perks, it's that the killer has to have energy to steal. I was stunning killers that had no energy to give, which is just another convoluted layer to an already difficult challenge.
The only way to reliably keep your energy after stunning the killer is to stun them an additional 2 times in the same chase, so that even if you lose 3 void energy you'll be able to deposit the rest you earned. This means you have to camp pallets and drop them instantly instead of looping.
So to recap, to get this challenge done, you are incentivized to:
1) Avoid doing your main objective
2) Avoid interacting with event objects (the pumpkins)
3) Camp and waste pallets in the early game when it's most important to conserve resources, because the longer you go on in the match the closer you get to energy cap.
The challenge failed to indicate any of this — and yeah, you can figure this stuff out after a few matches, but the lack of instruction on it felt incredibly confusing and frustrating. I would stun the killer twice and think I was done only to realize that it didn't count, and this happened multiple times. It's especially frustrating in solo queue where communication is next to impossible. Please never do anything like this again, it took way too long to finish.

This is the problem people have. I did all the challenges organically and got them all done. There is plenty of time to get them done, but people insist on doing the challenge on the first map after selecting it. Just play the game and these challenges will do themselves.
7 -
While most challenges can be done organically, this is not one of them. Stunning a killer can already be a difficult thing to do depending on their skill level and ping. You're required to not only stun them but successfully get away without getting downed, which is another level of unnecessary difficulty. Is it impossible? No, but there's 100+ reasons someone wouldn't be able to pull this off, or get interrupted depositing energy, etc etc. It's got too many caveats and layers that aren't defined clearly to the player.

Don't mean to brag but I didn't find this challenge difficult and did it on my first attempt.
I used Windows and Head On and followed the killer trying to get his attention. I did 3 pallet stuns and 2 head ons in the game but only got Void Energy twice. This was after the killer got another survivor down and hooked them.
Personally I love challenges like this.

It'd be a lot less frustrating if we could steal any amount of energy from the killer, not at least 6, and didn't have to deposit the energy into the rift. Most killers will end up chasing and downing the stunner and usually deposit all of their energy.
5 -
As long as it's not required to be in a single trial, it's fine. Those are the ones we really never want to see.
8 -
Yeah I think even just changing the requirement to deposit the energy would've saved me most of my sanity lol
1 -
It absolutely can be done organically. I also have absolutely no problem with challenges that are actually a bit of a challenge and wish there were more of them. Funnily enough, the one that took me the longest was to kick 2 treat pumpkins. I was stuck on that for like 10 games and had multiple times where I kicked three trick pumpkins in a game.
2 -
It's pretty annoying that you have to avoid doing generators to get the challenge done and the killer has to complete their objective at the same time. The killer either has to down a survivor, hook them, destroy a pumpkin, and then they need to not deposit the energy.
And you have to not be playing against one of the many anti-pallet killers.
I finally got it and it was definitely the hardest of the challenges in the event tome. Definitely glad it wasn't, "Complete in a single trial," because I'd probably never have gotten it done then.
2 -
Every time... they're called "Challenges".
Every challenge is possible, in fact I don't think there's been a single challenge since about tome 4 that I haven't been able to do, baring the odd glitch.
Please don't dumb down the challenges for this lot.
1 -
With challenges they now need to consider how much they've buffed killer and nerfed survivor, at the start of the year these were achievable but now they're so hard with how toxic killers play and how unbalanced the games are. Killer challenges are easy and survivor ones are hard, should be the opposite.
1 -
You mean a challenge that you can't get in 1 hit easy mode without planning.
How many killer games do you think it takes to get 4 basement hooks in 1 game.

It always amazes me when people tell on themselves this hard by saying you have to camp pallets or bring an entire build dedicated to it to get a stun. Newsflash, if you don't get a pallet stun on shorter loops (e.g. any of the midwitch non-god pallets) against killers who don't ignore pallets (Nurse) or aren't solely countered by predropping (Doctor, Clown, etc.) then you wastefully dropped the pallet when you should have greeded for another loop or vacuumed hard for a stun and what you really need to do is get better at looping.

Where on earth did I say it was impossible. It's not about dumbing it down, it's about designing challenges that are at odds with the game's primary objective that come with weird caveats that are unclear and frustrating to deal with.

When I play with challenges I bring builds that specifically map for what I'm trying to do. I got the sacrifice 4 in basement in tome 1 a couple of weeks ago, with agi+iron grasp my second try with huntress bringing a dead dawg offering. It would have been the first try if people didn't constantly dc against my hag. And that is just by forcing that tome too, I've sacrificed everyone in basement many times just.. with normal gameplay through snowballing.
In the grand scheme of things it's REALLY not all that difficult - the sacrifice 4 people in basement, or stun the killer to get void energy, nor are they like, close to being as hard as the hardest achievement (one being maybe evil incarnate, and the other one being the last survivor, completing all gens and escaping through gates). The hardest tome challenges imo are stun the killer 4 times in a single trial, or finish 4 generators in a single trial.

I don't think a tome that is up for a limited amount of time should have challenges that are all that difficult to begin with. This isn't the hardest one by a long shot but it's convoluted and poorly explained.
1 -
Was more the fact you generally have to plan to complete that objective by using certain perks etc.
And as for harder perks, thats why you have swfs to make those challenges easier.
0 -
I would like for challenges like this that are somewhat situational to be at the side of tome, not blocking like half the challenges if you do it as surv

I guess I don't understand the issue why it's an issue for killer needing to coordinate via their perks/strat because to me that is just killer gameplay in a nutshell. You should be going into a match with your perks ready to match your goal. If I am playing basement bubba, I'm bringing a build to match that loadout. If I'm playing to win, I'll do a combo of meta perks and slowdowns. If I'm playing my fun snipe huntress, I'm bringing all aura perks, etc.
FWIW my swf sucks, I got the majority of these achievements and challenges done solo - yes, including the 4 gens + 4 stuns. I don't think swf is the big answer to that either. You need to go into a match too with a build to meet your goals too - solo or swf, ie you are playing for the hatch, you are playing for stealth, you are playing medic, etc.

What? Like stunning the killer?
Just play normally, try to get several stuns in, and eventually you'll get two that steal some void energy. It's not even that unlikely of an occurrence, you can probably manage it in about 4-6 stuns. You don't even need to have got them both in the same match.
You really are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Just stun the killer. It's not that complicated.
This is the only challenge (other than the ones where you need x amount of x emblems or something) that has taken me more than one single game. Every other challenge is one and done, because you literally get them from playing normally. That's not even a 'challenge'.
2 -
Blast mine gave me mine was not a issue got it in one game honestly.
2 -
Depositing the energy seems like the bigger challenge. But, as for collecting the energy... everyone is complaining about tunneling and camping, so when you're downed the killer gets energy, which you can take back with decisive strike. If you didn't have to deposit it, it would be a lot easier I guess.
0 -
I don't think you have to deposit it thou I think you just have to get it from the killer.. could be wrong thou
3 -
I always forget that this thing stuns, even though every time I'm hit with it as killer I'm left wondering, "why can't I move?"
0 -
Yea I literally got it but stunning the killer, then he downed me and took it right back. THen later in the match I stunned him again, and then he downed me and took it right back. Got the challenge. So you it doesn't say you have to deposit it because you don't. The killer does however have to have energy to steal.
0 -
You definitely have to deposit it, I would steal energy and get downed and at the end of the match I'd get no credit.
0 -
Killer main here and got that challenge first try in one match and I suck at survivor.
0 -
Okay, so a few things I've learned after talking with some other people:
You do not actually have to deposit rift energy to get credit. You just have to stun them. It apparently (?) still counts even if you lose the energy. However, I had no way of knowing that, because I never knew when the killer had energy or didn't.
The key problem with this challenge is the total lack of information and complete RNG. I didn't know when a killer had energy or didn't, and it took me over 10 matches to finally get this one done. Whether that's bad RNG or killers simply depositing energy immediately after hooking, I have no idea, but it needs to be adjusted to be clearer if they design something like this again. Some sort of indication to the survivor that a killer is carrying energy would be nice.

I'm not a fan of the challenges that require a bunch of variables to go in your favor in order to complete them. They aren't skill based, they're luck based.
Even though I was able to get this challenge done my first try it was complete luck. It should've just been a "stun the killer" challenge.
2 -
i got it all in one game, just run Head On amnd Quick and quiet... everytime i see challenges of stunning the killer i just run head on, and if u play on SWF is guaranteed to get stuns, at least 2 per game wich is all u need. In fact, now you have perks that stun the killer even without needing of skill at all, blast mine for example.... or DS and since there is a rampage of tunneling killers is not hard to capitalize but blast mine and head on are the best ones.

I found this one kind of annoying, too -- mostly because it depends on the killer having loose energy to steal. After I spent a few matches trying to do it as survivor, I actually started carrying loose energy on purpose when I played killer, so people could get their stun points.
2 -
I used Jill's Blast Mine on Generators and Leon's FlashBang to get it done.
2 -
I had no trouble with it, it was pretty simple.
Step 1. have 6 energy
Step 2. Get downed in a corner while using breakdown killer steals 3
Step 3. Get hooked in said corner
Step 4. Get unhooked unsafely by a teammate
Step 5. Get tunnelled and downed in same corner killer steals 3 again.
Step 6. Wiggle out when they try to get you to the next nearest hook stealing 3 back
And repeat.
